I loooved this book! I’m a huge Hannah fan and this one did not disappoint what so ever! I flew through it and loved the love story!
This book was everything I wanted it to be. It had me turned pages without even realizing. It was so good!
What would you do if you knew the exact day that you would meet the love of your life? And what would you do if they are not who you expected them to be?
In Meant To Be Mine, that very thing is investigated as our main character Edie knows that she will meet the love of her life on June 24, 2022, so when she meets an attractive musician on the plane, she is convinced that he must be the one for her. However, things are definitely not perfect, and following a tragedy and a shocking revelation, she starts to question everything she thought to be true. It’s a fun and light-hearted romance with feelgood vibes making it a great choice.
Meant to Be Mine

What if fate gifts you with a gift of knowing the exact date, the love of your life will meet you? That is exactly what happened to Edie Meyer who had the exact date of June 24, 2022, when she is 29 yo as predicted by her Grandmother Gloria, to meet your meant to be.
I enjoyed Meant to Be Mine from Hannah Orenstein for the wonderful NYC backdrop, the very intriguing plot, a strong protagonist, and a very lovely and delightful light-hearted romance read.
Something about this book and Edie’s family just felt so comforting to me. It truly felt like I was along for the ride just a fly on the wall during everything in the book. I could picture everything happening it was truly like a movie in my mind!
I was feeling the need for something light and fun to read and the synopsis for Meant to Be Mine by Hannah Orenstein sounded about right. This is the story of Edie, a twenty-something living in New York who runs her own fashion business, has her own apartment, and loves her life. She has been waiting for the day at the beginning of the novel since she was sixteen years old. It is the day that her fabulous grandmother, Gloria, has predicted she will meet the love of her life. Gloria has never made a bad love prediction and so Edie's eyes are peeled in the airport and on the flight to see her twin sister get engaged to her own match. When a handsome sits down next to her on the plane, Edie can't help but wonder if this is it.
This book was pretty cute. I'm not a huge romance fan, but this one was smart and featured strong female characters who, while happy with the men they find, are also more than capable of having amazing lives without them. Edie's sister has postponed her engagement until after she's finished all her training as a doctor so that nothing gets in the way; Edie's mother chooses an unexpected path to get what she wants from her life without a man; Edie's grandmother rejected all of the conventions of the time as a young woman to seek out the fun that society thought inappropriate for her.
This was light and fluffy reading, and I'm all for that when you need it. The characters were people with whom I'd like to be friends and Gloria is a role model for us all. Add this book to your list.
This is a fun book with an interesting premise of having your fate determined and how you’ll deal with that expectation. I loved several of the scenes. And I loved the idea behind it. I just found it a little slow at times for my taste compared with what I was expecting. Kudos for the New York setting and references, though. That’s always a big plus in my mind.
Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for the advanced digital copy.
This book by Hannah Orenstein was a fun read. She has a great ability at making you feel like you're traveling along the characters in a book. I felt myself in New York and I felt myself on the flight to Maine. I loved her inclusion of her grandma's recipe. The book felt personal in the best way possible. It wasn't deep by any means, but a book doesn't have to be to be good either. Overall it's an easy beach read.
A big thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book! I have loved all of Hannah Orensteins's book and this one was no exception!
I thought the acknowledgements and the dedication to her grandparents was just the sweetest! I was close with my grandparents too and miss them dearly.
This story is such a wonderful tribute to their lives, their love and the presence they had in the lives they touched.
Meant to be Mine is a wonderful story about fate/destiny, leaving things to chance and things having a way of working out just as it should.
I recently adored Sophie Go’s Lonely Hearts Club, so I was very excited to pick up another matchmaker story! I also loved that the story started with an airplane meet-cute. For some reason that trope really strikes a chord with me!
I liked Edie’s character and her love for her family. Her connection with her grandmother was the sweetest part. Gloria was such a fun and unique character–she seemed so special, and I really wish I had a Gloria of my own!
When I started this book, I wasn’t sure if it was going to end up going in a magical realism direction or not. I really enjoyed the choice the author made in regards to how the matchmaking angle played out.
This was the first book I’ve read by Hannah Orenstein, but I have a whole bunch of her novels on my TBR. I’m looking forward to picking up the next one!
Meant to be Mine was a unique concept that immediately drew me in. The matriarch of the family was a matchmaker of sorts, as she was able to predict her family members exact date they would meet their soulmate.
She had never been wrong and Edie Myers date was finally here and she couldn’t wait to see who Mr. Right could be, alas she meets the one she knows is right for her.
Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the book because I found the authors insistent need to push politics to the forefront was a mood breaker. Especially, especially when she stereotyped the characters into a sweet bundle and sorry I can’t stand when an author blatantly stereotypes any minority group.
Maybe you can look past the politics and see nothing but the romance backdrop and if so I say grab this book.
The best part about this book was the style of writing. I am so impressed! It was the perfect read after a long week and I wanted to read something lighthearted/easy but not garbage (this is most definitely not garbage). It falls a little more in the women's fiction genre I think than romance but honestly that made me love it more.
Meant to Be Mine is a cute twist on the romance genre, playing with the ideas of fate and autonomy. Edie's grandmother has fated the exact day that she will meet her soulmate, and when the perfect person falls into her lap, she feels like her destiny is coming together. However, soulmates aren't always what they seem. I blew through this book, and found it charming, light, and fun. I was waiting for some kind of twist at the end, however, that would bring it back into line with the prophecy, but I still enjoyed the book anyway.
Where to begin... this book had a fun and interesting concept. It just wasn't meant to be for me, I think that I went into this book having too much expectations. I thought it would be funny, hopeful, and become one of my new favorite books of this year, but sadly that was not the case.
The author's writing style is just not my cup of tea. I prefer to read romance books, but this one was not it. It was so built up to be a great book, but fell very flat and short. I did not like Edie and I thought that while the concept of this book was a bit clever, I cannot in my good conscious recommend this book to anyone that I know.
This book is already published and out into the world. If you would like to read a copy, I suggest borrowing it from your library.
Edie Meyer is a stylist in NYC. Her grandmother, Gloria, has quite the talent as she can predict what date a family member will meet their love match. For years, Edie has known June 24, 2022 is the day Gloria said she will meet her soulmate. Well, the day is here and Edie is on an airplane. A handsome man is sitting right beside her. My oh my, what will happen next?
Meant to be Mine is a cute, sweet romance with engaging and entertaining characters and a compelling storyline. At the beginning, I was frustrated with Edie about sticking to her guns on waiting until the date to find her soulmate, and turning out other shots at true love, probably I don’t buy into the whole destiny idea. But the story was so romantic and the ending was perfect and fabulous, making up for my frustration at the start.
This was a really fun read! I do think that this book should not be marketed as a romance book because it doesn't follow the typical "formula" of a romance book. For most of the book, it was unclear who the female MC would end up with. I did think it was a unique concept and it had great Jewish representation. As a secular Jew myself, I always appreciate this kind of OwnVoices representation in books!
Edie's family. has a history of knowing the day they'll meet "the one". When she meets the seemingly perfect guy next to her on the plane on her 'day' she is laser focused on making it work.
The premise of this story was a little iffy for me. I didn't buy into it and that made the book slightly less enjoyable for me. I did like the story, but felt it was a bit drawn out.
Wow, do I love Hannah Orenstein! I've been following her since her debut and she only gets better. This book has all the humor, heart, and Jewish rep.
this book was just okay, I found myself skimming a lot of parts and wasn't super invested in the story.
