What a great preview! I rushed to order a copy of the full book so I could finish it as soon as possible. This book was like a warm hug. D'Vaughn and Kris have great chemistry already. I love all of the representation of queer, WOC, and plus size too. I'm also a sucker for the specific genre of reality tv romance and I'm looking forward to seeing how this one plays out.
What an incredible story. The chemistry between the two main characters were set up REALLY well and I could already anticipate the tension and chemistry that would follow through with the rest of the book. The writing and tone was immersive and I was deeply upset I only had a preview and not the whole book. Can’t wait to read the full thing!
Loved this so far and I had to purchase the book so I could continue! I'm excited because I love a premise that includes fake dating/marriage, and one with LGBTQ and plus-size rep! I trust it will continue to entertain me.
Just from the preview text of the book, the characters are so sweet and feel like real, authentic, full people. I found myself totally rooting for both D'Vaughn and Kris, and I loved the quick meet-and-greet at the beginning with a lovely, diverse crowd.
I'm a fan of the fake dating trope and I love the idea of it being part of a reality TV show! The characters are very likable and include a lot of varied representation. This preview makes me excited to read the rest and see what shenanigans unfold as D'Vaughn and Kris plan their wedding!
This is a sweet preview to D'Vaughn and Kris Plan a Wedding. The characters are fun and the plot is intriguing. I'll be reading this one when it comes out.
This was such a fun preview. I thought the idea of faking an engagement and trying to convince your family it’s real as part of a show to be really intriguing. I’m excited to read the full book!
I really enjoyed this preview! I like the premise of the story. There also seems to be a diverse cast of characters. I’m really looking forward to reading this whole book now that is is out.
I really like the premise of this story and would like to see how it plays out. However, from these first few chapters I don’t really have a connection to either D’Vaughn or Kris. I would keep reading to see how the characters are fleshed out.
Thanks NetGalley for providing me with this sample.
I can't really review this book as we are only permitted to see a few chapters. It has a wonderful premise, and the heroines and the voice are refreshing and delightful. The early portion of the reality show felt more like a plot device, but again, it is too early to tell.
Because I have no sense of how the book unfolds, I will not review it elsewhere online.
I loved this sample!! I can't wait for this book to come out tomorrow os I can read the whole thing :) will definitely be picking this one up.
Enjoyed the preview. Loved that it is dual pov. Queer and a reality show, what more do you want. Can't wait to know more of D'vaughn and Kris' story. Thank you Netgalley and the Publisher for the preview.
I read a preview of D'Vaughn and Kris Plan a Wedding by Chencia C Higgins and that was enough to make me eager to read the rest. It sounds like such a sweet romance and a fun plot. The representation is amazing - D'Vaughn is a fat, black lesbian and Kris is an Afro-Latina. Both joined the show for different reasons, one to come out to her religious family, and the other to find love. This was an excellent start. The premise of the book had me intrigued and the first few chapters knocked my socks off. The author has taken the reality show concept and worked with it to present the different perspectives, all with a vivid and appealing writing style that had me absolutely hooked from the beginning. I loved these first looks at the characters and can't wait to see how this all plays out.
I like romances where they get together early and there are no internal relationship obstacles (it's about you and your chosen person against the world 🤏), so this one was right up my alley. Kris and D'Vaughn were adorable together. I also loved the dual POV, and it was heartwarming to read them go on and on about the great the other person was.
The book follows an interesting idea, but it fell a little flat on the execution. Despite the literal heading, the author doesn't build on the reality show premise. There is no mention of how contestants are eliminated or how they move to the next round, and we don't see much of the other contestants. The concept of lying to your family about such an important part of your life feel also feels very mean-spirited. The actual wedding was barely there.

This was actually refreshing! I have a feeling I’ll like this one a lot. Although it’s too soon to say as I’ve slinky read few chapters but i’m quite optimistic. I cant wait for the release date! 💛
Such an intriguing premise! The communication was so healthy and I loved how distinct every character's voice felt. Truly beautiful.
Love this so much! Cannot wait for the entire book. I'm already in love with D'Vaughn and Kris and can tell this one is gonna be a favorite.
This was such an excellent start! The premise of the book intrigued me, and the first couple of chapters here blew me away! Higgins has taken the reality show concept and worked with it to present the various perspectives, voices, attraction and upcoming issues, all with a lively and attractive writing style that had me absolutely gripped from the off.
I loved these first looks at the characters and I absolutely cannot wait to see how this is all going to roll-out.
This two-chapter preview of D'Vaughn and Kris Plan a Wedding introduces us to the plot and main characters of the book. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to read the full book!
