I enjoy Phillip Stead's books. I am no longer the purchaser for children's books but, would recommend this to other librarian collogues.

I received a copy of the audio in exchange for review- I do not have a digital or physical copy, so I didn't get to see the illustrations.

The audio narration is fabulous. They use all kinds of noises to make it feel real- alarm clock, birds chirping, etc... The narrator is very clear and easy to follow.

Amos McGee is so tired and he can't make it to the bus. He keeps falling asleep and so his helpers at the zoo help out with his chores. The owl gives instructions, the penguins give friendly reminders not to wake the zookeeper and others do other tasks. The tortoise disappears to help with another important task.

My 5 & 7 year old really enjoyed this on audio. They liked the narrators voice and enjoyed the story overall. The 7-year-old's favorite part was the helping animals. The 5-year-old's favorite part is him missing the bus. They have asked to listen to this one several times since our first listen and they recommend it.

My adult perspective is that the voice sounds more like a bedtime story, but its nice and calming. I also was confused by this book at first listen but my kids loved it from the get go so I guess their opinion is the one that matters the most! They give it 4 stars.

Another adorable, tender story from Mr. Stead! This is the first children’s audiobook I’ve ever listened too and I loved it. The background sound effects were fun and created the atmosphere while the narrator’s tone and speed were perfect.

My boys’ school is just down the street from our home, so I never think to pop on an audiobook. This story has definitely changed my mind!

In this charming audio accompaniment to the picture book, Amos McGee Misses the Bus brings back a familiar character with a new adventure. The audio was delightful to listen to with my preschool-age boys. The sound effects of the kettle whistling, newspaper ruffling, and animals making noises was enjoyable for all of us, in addition to the calm and cheerful narration.

We listened to the audio without the picture book, and enjoyed it quite a bit. We plan to check out the book to listen and read for next time. It was fun to introduce the children to a Caldecott winning author and expose them to new characters and stories.

The audiobook of Amos McGee Misses the Bus is delightful. There are sound effects to simulate the environment, charming ukelele music, and a wonderful narrator. It will easily hold any child's attention.

This is a continuation of A Sick Day for Amos McGee. We see Amos is continuing his friendship with the zoo animals. As Amos prepares for a fun day, he is excited and has trouble sleeping. Students can make connections to Amos's feelings and share in his excitement. This book shares ways to handle disappointment and shows an example of a friendship that can take into account other's feelings and revel in lifting them up when they are sad.
