This is a fun story and the second book I have read from this author as she takes us back to the beautiful Curiosity Island in the Whitsundays, a tropical island owned and run as a resort by one family, headed by the matriarch Nan her one wish is to have all of her children and grandchildren married and giving her great-grandkids, will she finally get her wish will the island turn into love island?
Carmen Lowery is a single mum and a perfectionist, she has a plan for everything and is so very caring and wants to make sure everyone is happy, she loves her daughter Mika who was the result of a passionate night in Chicago when she let wild Carmen out to play. Finding out she was pregnant to a stranger shocked her, she did all she could to find Mika’s father but to no avail, then when a tall stranger arrives on the island, Carmen is stunned as Mika’s father arrives.
Bruno Michel is a special ops pilot and he loves his job getting people in and out of danger and he needs to concentrate on that job picket fences and a family are not in his future, one night stands are good although there was one five years ago that he has never forgotten even if he doesn’t know her name. When is sent on some strange mission to an island in the Whitsundays he thinks this is some sort of mistake but he follows orders and arrives only to find the woman who has always had a piece of his heart the woman he never forgot.
The pull is instant like they have never been apart and they pick up where they left off finding places around the island to have some very happy times but both are keeping a big secret and both secrets are sure to blow up big time on this island and does so with a bang. Can they work through their very different lives and make a future as a family?
There are many laugh out loud moments in this story as Carmen’s family add a lot of fun to the story and of course Bruno and Carmen’s journey to a wonderful HEA make for some fun and sensual times, the setting is beautiful add to that the great characters that I loved getting to meet again and am hoping that we get to know more about. I would highly recommend this one.
My thanks to Harlequin AU for my copy to read and review
Thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book for an honest review.
OK but nothing to really write home about. Lots of miscommunication and misunderstandings make the plot a little slow. Nan is truly terrible but Cody is a redeeming feature.
Wow, I loved this book, the superb story with insight and dreams coming true!
The Whitsunday Islands are the perfect setting to fall in love, again! Carmen works hard to support her young daughter, Bruno re-enters her life and they must face the reality of a previous meeting!
I loved the depiction of life’s challenges and real struggles that we all face, very relatable with warm and at times funny characters.
Carmen’s grandmother adds humour and reality as Carmen and Bruno fight their chemistry, will they take a chance on family and love?
Superb writing on display with wonderful characters in this fabulous easy summer read!
I appreciate the opportunity to read this book, thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the talented author!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was my first Bronwyn Sell book, and it didn't disappoint. The story was beautiful, the characters were great, but mostly, it was an easy read, engaging you from the very first page. Lovely romance with great chemistry between the characters. Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
Perfect summer reading, Since We Last Met is a delightful rom-com that makes full use of both the fake fiancée and secret baby tropes. Set on lush Curiosity Island in Queensland’s Whitsundays, the story invokes images of pristine sand, crystal clear waters and hidden coves.
This story is filled with a large cast of characters whom I struggled to get to know at first, just because there were so many of them, however Carmen and Bruno became pretty real pretty fast and these two really are the stars of this book though Carmen’s grandmother Nan does her best to steal the show. Her antics during her first live television appearance were a hoot.
This book doesn’t take itself too seriously, making it a great beach read, though it does have one or two underlying and more serious issues, one of which is raised through Bruno’s dedication to his US Air Force Special Ops work and his father’s careered subsequent death. I loved that he was such a decent man. He is genuine in his determination not to be the serviceman that leaves family behind. Carmen’s efforts to juggle a demanding job and raise a four year old by herself would resonate with many women. We all try to be super-Mum and at some point we realise we can’t juggle all those balls at once. Her anxiety and Bruno’s make these two characters very relatable and it was nice to see them overcoming all their challenges at the end of the book.
The synopsis sounded intriguing, and I wanted so much to like this story. However, I could not find a positive aspect in this book to draw on, apart from Cody's character who appeared to have his head on his shoulders - earning the one star in this review.

A romantic comedy full of secrets, mistakes and interfering family members.
Set in the present time on a small tropical Island in the Whitsundays off the coast of Queensland Australia. Carmen Lowery is a single mother working at her families Resort on Curiosity Island. Carmen’s family members are single also and Carmen’s grandmother is desperate to find partners for all her grandchildren.
Bruno Michael is a US Air Force pilot and arrives at Curiosity Island on emergency deployment at the Air Base on the Island. Bruno and Carmen meet and realise they had previously met five years ago but had both used different names.
This was a fun romance about family relationships and secrets.
