This story is one that has a message for young children which is to be yourself! Penny is the only pig on a horse farm so she naturally feels left out. Her way of dealing with that is to try to make herself more like a horse. The cute illustrations show exactly what she attempts. How does her situation work itself out? Read this book with a child to see.

Using animals can be a good way to tell a story about something important. Children have a little distance this way and may find it easier to talk about their feelings as a result.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.

I was granted eARC access to Penny the Horse... Of Course! via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts are my own and my review is honest.

Penny the Horse... Of Course! is the story of a lonely little pig named Penny who tries everything she can think of to convince the farm's horses that she's also a horse so that she can hang out with the horses. It's a cute little lesson about being yourself, asking for what you want, and accepting everyone as they are.

The watercolour illustrations are cute and colourful, and Penny in particular is quite charming. Little kids will surely be captivated by these pictures and want to spend hours with this book.

This was a cute book about a pig that just wanted friends and wanted to belong. The illustrations are beautiful and the story is a nice easy read for little ones that are just beginning to read. The story tells about being persistent and not being afraid to try different things. It also shows how others can learn how to accept things that may be different.

The cutest story ever! When I say the cover I knew I had to give it a try! Penny is the only pig on this horse farm so she comes up with the idea to be a horse! But she learns to be herself is the best way to be!
Such a sweet little book and such wonderful illustrations! I loved all the colors the horses were and penny was so soft and round!
Definitely will be recommending this to parents when it comes out!

Penny is the only pig on a horse farm, which can be a bit lonely. She decides her best course of action is to become as much like a horse as possible, but this doesn't quite go according to plan. Luckily, after some missteps, the animals work together to find a better solution.

I admired Penny's gumption and resilience. She was resourceful and determined and it took a lot to get her down. I wish the horses had been a bit kinder, but they did eventually make an effort to be good friends and the payoff was satisfying. This would be a good read for pre-K and early elementary to reinforce how important it is to include everyone and celebrate people for who they are as individuals.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

A great story about inclusion, diversity and acceptance, with adorable watercolours.

A cute picture book about Penny, the pig who wishes she were a horse just like all the other animals on the farm. It's pretty easy to relate to someone who is lonely and wants to belong, and does everything she can to move, eat and speak like others and become one of them. Luckily, the horses in this story encourage Penny to be herself, and they appreciate her the way she is.
