I wanted so much more in this book. I enjoyed it when they finally got on the water, but still need more. Hopefully the next installment (if there is one) will provide a bit more background on some of the side characters that is needed. I got a bit confused between some of the men and they all seemed a little interchangable.

This is a fun and action-packed read. The story is full of adventure, pirates, curses, and ghosts right from the start. It’s well written and easy to follow, which isn’t easy to do for a multi-generation story full of curses. That cliffhanger! I know it’s a part of a duology so I was expecting one, BUT I felt so incomplete at the end of the book. LOL…

I agree that the descriptions of each other’s eyes in the character’s POVs were getting redundant because they were the same each time. Otherwise, the romantic chemistry between Meriden and Greg was undeniably sweet. They’re still figuring things out, and I’m looking forward to knowing what happens once they reach the island and tying up all the loose ends in this book. Yes; I recommend and I suggest getting both at the same time so you won’t be left hanging.

This book was such a fun read. It started off really strong and threw you right into action, which I also love. After the first few chapters it took a littler longer for more excitement.

It follows Meriden who finds a map to death island and has she helps put together a crew to sail to it, and Gregory who has sworn himself to be her protector whether or not she wants him to be.

Overall a fun book I really enjoyed it!

Perfect amount of wonder, with magic, maps, and talk of treasure.

I can’t figure out where the story begins. I thought it begins in the Caribbean or south of the states, but then they talk about journeying to the ‘New World’, so that confused me. It wasn’t until about chapter 14 (About 40%) when they finally say they are in England, unless I missed an earlier mention.

Every time Greg sees Meriden, he talks about her “savanna green eyes”, over and over. Change it up!

There’s too many men interested in Meriden.
She doesn’t behave or talk appropriately for the era. Some of the things she says are just too modern.

Despite all that, I am interested in reading then next book.
