This compellation centers around the Christmas theme. I liked that the stories were all quick reads. Some of the stories were better then others, however you might disagree.
Wow, what an amazing collection! Some of my favorite authors and a bunch of new-to-me ones, all together in an anthology of short stories to be read on a couch with a cup of chocolate on winter nights or on a sunny beach in summer (it doesn’t matter that they are mostly holidays stories!). Some are closed door, some are steamy (I prefer steamy, of course!), but everyone was interesting and captivating.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Wonderful holiday anthology with some of my favorite authors. An eclectic array of engaging Historical Romances. I highly recommend this book.
Thank you Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.
I want to thank Netgalley and the author's for gifting me the ebook. Very easy read cute short stories. Recommend if you are wanting a light easy read. Perfect for the holidays!
A Jam Packed anthology with some great stories, each one based around a famous Christmas Carol.
Some were very brief and some were longer length, and there were a few really outstanding stories I really enjoyed: Caroline Lee's funny story about a meddling grandmother trying to help her granddaughter who is waiting for her fiancée to turn up - this was full of all the fun of snow and Christmas with some fun banter. I also really enjoyed Elisa Braden's story about an educated gentleman and his hidden feelings for his female secretary, and the road trip he goes on when she visits Scotland. Chasisty Bowlin has a fun fake relationship story where the protagonists are secretly in love with one another. I also liked the CH Amirand second chance romance.
This was lovely to dip into between all the work of getting ready for Christmas.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book and all opinions are my own.
A beautiful collection of Historical Holiday Romances. These 14 stories are a mixture of standalone stories, and Holiday novels and novellas that are part of other series. I enjoyed every story, and look forward to reading more from these authors. The stories that come from a series give a one page preface so you can jump right in without feeling lost. I really appreciated this and was glad that I did not skip these stories, which normally I would because I prefer to start a series from the beginning. The collection was well edited and organized. I look forward to reading the next collection from Dragonblade Press. I recommend this collection for anyone who loves historical romances.
What a wonderful way to get to know knew to me authors and get my historical, holiday romance fix!
Star of Wonder was a pleasure to read from start to finish. I found myself downloading a slew of books to my TBR list by the various authors in this collection. I highly recommend this romance anthology, TBR and Enjoy!
I really liked this Holiday Historical Romance collection! The variety of characters and places is fantastic. I didn't feel like the plot lines were similar to eachother which was great. The stories seemed to follow popular Christmas Caroles as the basis which helped tie the collection together. I loved reading about some familiar characters too.
My favorites were All I Want for Christmas is You, once Upon a Midnight Kiss, A Sweet Tale of Blessings, The Last Christmas, To Wish Upon a Midwinter Scot, and In the Bleak Midwinter. I'm excited for Part 2 of the Holiday Collection from more great authors.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me a digital copy of this book for my honest review.
Twelve entertaining novellas based on Christmas carols. Since this is a Christmas anthology, most are on the sweet side. I thought the stories were very well developed even at their shorter length. Sometimes a novella seems rushed to me. One drawback was that obviously some (all?) are parts of a series with references to people and events from past books I haven't read. This did take me out of the plot. I'd prefer stand-alone stories without the feeling I'm missing something.
Thanks to Netgalley, Dragonblade Publishing and the authors for this ARC for an unbiased review.
This collection of 14 Christmas novellas by some authors you may have encountered if you like historical romance (which I do) focuses on festive themes.
The very best story is, of course, by Elisa Braden, and it saves the rest of the collection, which isn't overly inspiring.
An Entertaining Historical Romance Holiday Collection
This is an enjoyable collection of novellas and short stories penned by historical romance authors who know how to entertain. You can read each story in one sitting. Sometimes, you just need a short story that you can read quickly to forget about the world, and this collection can provide that escape. Many of the stories are connected to series, but they can be read as standalone. They can introduce you to the authors, and you can pick up the series at a later time. This collection will provide a bit of humor, some charm, heartwarming moments, and best of all, a whole lot of romance.
I did not pick just one or two novellas to read for review, I read them all. Very easy to read with an unusual twist, most are connected to Christmas caroles.
The complete collection is definitely
5 STARS. Snow, greenery, mistletoe, presents and a lot of kisses during Christmas. All for an HEA.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
This is such an enjoyable collection of Holiday Historical Romances. I really enjoyed the variety of stories and loved reading from familiar authors and discovery new authors that I need to check out. I found this collection.to be well organized featuring stories of varying lengths. There is also a really lovely mix of tropes and holiday traditions which help to support the love story at the heart of each tale. I found all of the writing to easily draw me into the story, I was charmed by the characters and truly had a delightful time. I tend to reach for these short story collections during the holiday/winter season, I think they are the perfect way to enjoy a quick dose of holiday spirit.
This collection is definitely one to check out, it features some wonderful writers and will give you a great look at writing styles of authors you have not read from before. I would highly recommend if you are looking for some great holiday cheer to put a smile on your face, perfect way to snuggle up with some blankets and hot coco on a cold winter's night!
I have been wanting to read an Elisa Braden book for a while now (thanks to the well-deserved hype by some Bookstagrammers), and I was delighted that this collection of stories contains a novella from her.
I finally had some time to focus on it during a train ride back home from Paris, and let me tell you that it completely grabbed my attention and I didn't even realise where the time went! It certainly is a short story, but it packs a punch. I will be reading the other stories by the other authors as well, but if they're all up to this level, I'll be happy.
Also, what a fabulous way to discover new authors!

A fantastic collection of Christmas novellas inspired by holiday carols. Each of these authors bring you something special and are all well known in their own right which is great.. I enjoyed the stories and recommend this anthology.
If the Star of Wonder/Star of Light collections were a music album this would be the 'A' side (which really says something because I also really liked the Star of Light collection). I was probably swayed a little because Alexa Aston's story is included in this set and she has quickly become one of my favorite romance authors. As I also said in my review of Star of Light, this collection introduced me to so many new authors and added a bunch of books and series to my 'want to read' list. A few quick notes on a few of my favorite stories:
All I Want for Christmas Is You - there is a lot packed into this short story which it feeling like it's rushed.
The Reindeer Romance - you've got to love a story based on "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer". This one is probably one of the more clever stories in this collection
Twelve Days of Love - even without having read the story that introduced these characters I was able to get right into the story and I loved every moment of it
Always the Reverend - if there are two characters in romance that are more perfectly suited for one another than Joseph and Henrietta I have not yet encountered them
Once Upon a Midnight Kiss - 2nd to Reindeer Romance in humor
A Promise Kept...A Love Unspoken - loved both these characters and it was refreshing to have characters that were a bit older (and by that I mean in their 30s)
A Sweet Tale of Blessings - there's more at stake in their story than many of the others which upped the drama
In the Bleak Midwinter - I read Boyd and Amelia's first story in the Halloween anthology and was so excited to get to see what happened next for these characters
Loved a few of the stories in this romance collection. My favorite hands down was Elisa Braden’s. Sometimes I really enjoy short stories because 8 don’t always have the time to devote to a long book. Thank you!
This is an amazing Collection of Christmas novellas that the authors have all tied to a Christmas Carol of their choice. Wish I could give more than 5 stars as I really enjoyed reading the stories written by some of my favorite authors.
I highly recommend this collection!
There is nothing better than Christmas stories and when you have these amazing authors, it does not get much better! Some are linked to series they have and if you have not read those, take the time to go back and read them!
Caroline Lee- The Reindeer Romance
Caroline's sense of humor and delightful characters always make me smile!
Throw in a terrible storm, a waiting bride, a late groom, a reindeer and a hilarious grandmother
and you have a perfect tale to bring you into the holidays!! Fun and enjoyable!
Meara Platt- All I want for Christmas
I am still waiting for my copy of The Book of Love, but meanwhile, Meara pulls out another
delightful story of a long ago promise that finally comes to fruition! There is no way not to fall in love with these characters and simply sigh....
Alexa Aston - Twelve Days of Love
A sweet, charming tale that will win your heart. A visit with sighworthy, Luke St. Clair, his wife Caroline and their children. One of those is Lucy, a little girl they found on the streets and took into their family. Lucy's wish is to find the boy who had been like a brother to her on the streets.
Simply a wonderful gift for Christmas!
Emily E K Murdoch- Always the Reverend
Can two very shy people come together at Christmas when they have a hard time even talking?
A lady who is part of his congregation, is all that the Reverend could image as a wonderful wife.
If only he can tell her his feelings and she for him. Can a miracle happen at Christmas? So sweet.
Anna Markland - In the Bleak Midwinter
A heart felt story of a baby to be born on Christmas Eve. But outside a terrible snow storm was coming down and having let all their servants leave for the holiday, except an elderly manservant.. of yes, and a ghost, they needed help! A trip in the snow, a vision and a miracle of help makes this one of my favorite stories!
Do not miss this wonderful compilation. More to come!
An extensive novella collection.
Star of Wonder, along with its separate companion anthology Star of Light is a delight.
There truly is something for everyone in this holiday collection. So many authors to choose from.
Its a recommend.
