This is a sweet (although it does get a bit spicy in one scene) romance novel about Zoe and Devin, who have been mutually attracted to each other for years. Zoe’s attempts to flirt with Devin have always been overshadowed by Devin’s sense of “propriety” since he has known Zoey since she was much younger, and Devin is her brother Han’s best friend. It is further complicated by the fatherly relationship he has with her uncle. Will Devin be able to put that behind and take a chance with Zoey, or will he lose out on the opportunity if she lands an accounting job out of town?
I liked this novella - it is a quick read, but the story does not feel truncated, at all.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley; all opinions are my own.
I loved this one! Zoe isn’t sure where her life is headed or what she wants to do with her life. In the meantime she is waitressing, volunteering at the food bank and looking forward to seeing her crush, her brother’s best friend.
.
Devin has always had a crush on Zoe but he’s not sure it’s worth risking his friendship with her brother on a relationship but it’s getting to the point he can’t risk losing Zoe either. This was a sweet romance.

Thank you #foreverpub and #NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review
Only Home with You is a delightful novella set in the same small town of Blue Cedar Falls as Jeannie Chin’s Blue Cedar Falls series. In this novella, we get to meet Zoe Leung, who’s at a crossroads in her professional life and her personal life. The object of her emotional crisis? Her older brother’s best friend, Devin James, a construction worker who’s always had feelings for Zoe but didn’t want to risk the relationships that mean so much to us. This is a sweet second-chance, brother’s best friend, romance that I read in no time!
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advanced digital copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Only Home with You is the novella 1.5 in the Blue Cedar Falls series. It is a wonderful story of two people pining for each other, unable to make a move until all is perfect. It explores complex emotions for both main characters and resolves in a most satisfying way. I loved every word of it and I devoured the whole series. I look forward to more books fro Jeannie Chin.
This author has quickly become another one of my favorite AAPI authors. I have really been enjoying her romances, and this book is no exception. An enjoyable small town asian rep romance that has me wanting more stories from the author. Short, sweet and to the point. I loved the characters, as well as the flow of the story, and I will be reading more from this author.
This was the first book I read by this author and it won’t be the last. This was such a good story! Thanks for the early copy!
This love story was simply beautiful and I can't wait for the next book in this series. I recommend this book, this author, and this series.
I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and the publisher. This is my honest and personal review.
This was really fantastic. Jeannie built such a great community in her earlier book and it's so nice to go back there and see some of the same people and places but have this other great story.
It's always interesting to see the brother's best friend - best friend's little sister story and this one was done really well. At no point were there creepy vibes or any sense of just wanting do something that felt taboo in your youth. They were very clear on what they were doing and went into the relationship with their eyes open.
It was also great to see the idea of found family/family is what you make it and to see how that concept can change and adjust as you get older.
This story is based on the popular story line of falling for your brother's best friend, which is cliche, but very well executed in this novel. I read this book really quickly because the plot was adorable as you follow Zoe and Devin and their budding relationship. Nothing revolutionary but a perfect mindless book to breeze through poolside this summer. Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for a copy of this book for an honest review.
I love the world Chin has created and coming back was so much fun. This short novella packs a lot into a few pages as both Zoe and Devin find their power and each other. This is a must read for fans of Debbie Mason.
4.5 stars
This novella was super cute! It was sugar, spice, and all things nice. I definitely would have enjoyed a longer book for them, but I found the pacing on this one enjoyable.
Zoe and Devin were lovely to read about, and I always enjoy a good brother's best friend trope. (Thankfully, this one has mutual pining, not one sided.)
Only Home With You by Jeannie Chin is a cuuute novella set in Blue Cedar Falls.
We've got the beautiful love story of Zoe and Devin.
Zoe is the little sister of Devin's best friend, Han. So totally off limits.
But both can't deny their attraction for each other.
Will they get a chance?
Oooh this novella was so enjoyable!
I loved Zoe the moment I met her in The Inn on Sweetbriar Lane. So it was so exciting to read her story!
Devin and Zoe totally fit together! He's this charming guy, who knows how to work with his hands. 😉 And she's the perfect addition!
Sassy and cute!
It was a really quick read and I totally liked it. 😁🤗
Thanks to Dana Cuadrado, the Hatchette Book Group and Jeannie Chin for this ARC via NetGalley.
♡ This is my honest review in my own words. ♡
It was nice to have another story to read in the series. I liked it okay - it was a little less “steamy” as the prior book and this one kept me guessing for a while. I loved how the story ended (without giving spoilers) - it was sweet and the way it all went full circle was great. I see opportunities for follow-up books so I will be anxiously awaiting those!
Thank you so much to Forever Pub and Netgalley for an arc of Only Home with You by Jeannie Chin.
I really enjoyed this novella! It was great to be back in Blue Cedar Falls. It was great to see Zoe again, I enjoyed her in The Inn on Sweet Briar Lane.! I was rooting for these character and I loved learning about them and seeing their story unfold. I felt like there was a lot going on plot wise that happened quickly. This isn’t surprising since it’s a novella but I wish it was longer! I would have enjoyed seeing the character more and staying in this world longer. I will definitely be reading more from this author in the future!
I received an ARC from the publisher and am voluntarily posting a review. All opinions are my own.
Only Home with You is a companion novella to Jeannie Chin’s debut, The Inn on Sweetbriar Lane, following Zoe, who was a supporting character. While the story may be shorter pages wise, I was pleasantly surprised with how complete it felt, especially in terms of the characters and their issues feeling fully well rounded.
Devin as a hero won me over, because he’s such a good person. He had a tough childhood, but his best friend’s family made him pretty much one of their own…including his friend’s sister, Zoe, who he’s had feelings for for a while, but doesn’t want to jeopardize things with his friend or the family as a whole.
Zoe is also a great character. She’s at a crossroads in her life professionally, which means she fills her time partially with volunteer work at the local soup kitchen…bringing her in close proximity to Devin. And while Devin may have reservations about pursuing her, I love how she takes the lead and pursues him. Their relationship grows naturally from friends to lovers, given their history, and it’s a great setup for them both to find a new home with each other.
This is a lovely, sweet read, and I would recommend it to fans of small-town romance.
Zoe Leung has moved back home after getting a career guaranteeing degree in accounting (for her mother). She waitresses at night and volunteers at her favorite uncle's homeless shelter and food bank as she is trying to find her future. Zoe also enjoyed flirting with her brothers best friend Devin, the man she has been crushing on since. . .forever.
Devin James has been a part of the Leung family and the Homeless shelter/food Bank since he was a youngster when his family needed their resources. Now he is a regular volunteer and a good friend to Han Leung and his Uncle Albert who owns the shelter. Devin is also working hard to build himself a home with the help of Uncle Albert. He also hopes that Han and Zoe don't find out about his huge crush on Zoe.
Jeannie Chin has written another beautiful novel, more compelling characters and an engaging storyline. I fell in love with the characters, their stories and the romances that bloom. This is a story that you will want to read and wont put down!
This love story was simply beautiful and I can't wait for the next book in this series. I recommend this book, this author, and this series.
Such a cute, heartwarming, small town story 💖 I loved The Inn On Sweetbriar Lane, so when I got the chance to go back to that town, you know I ran!
Dual POV, brothers best friend, small town! I AM HOOKED 😍😍 this was everything I needed as my schooling has gotten a little hectic 🙃
Zoe is more than relatable! She is trying to fit into a world when she isn’t even sure what she wants. Anyone else feel that? 🙋🏻♀️ And Devin is not only 😍 but he is learning to stand strong & go after what he wants.
Overall verdict: 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 perfect short book that will put a smile on your face in the middle of a busy schedule 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much @readforeverpub for the ebook! LOVED IT!!
I really enjoyed this novella set in the small town of Blue Cedar Falls.
Zoe has an accounting degree she's not sure she wants to use, a mom who is pressuring her to find a job, and a crush on her brother's best friend Devin.
Devin is a great guy who is being recognized for his hard work with a promotion, he's hoping to buy land for a house, and he also has a crush on Zoe.
This was a great mix of sweet and a little heat. It was nice, too, that there was a focus on their personal struggles and growth in addition to the romance.
I really like Jeannie Chin's writing and hope we get more books in this series soon!
I was happy to meet again characters I liked in The Inn on Sweetbriar Lane.
This was a sweet and compelling novella that I loved. I rooted for the characters and liked them.
Good plot development and storytelling.
The cover is gorgeous and loved it.
Highly recommended.
