You know those books where you read with a smile on your face and in your heart? This is one of those. Bromley’s witty dialogue and sassy banter never lets up, in this funny, charming, sexy and absolutely fabulous romcom. I wasn't sure going into this one as I haven't read anything from Bromley before, but, not to be too dramatic - I LOVED it. I flew through it with eagerness and couldn't wait to find out what happens to Winnie. I was definitely Here For The Drama! and this is how I like my drama, on the pages of a book or in reality TV.

4.5 stars.

"No one's perfect. You shouldn't expect yourself to be."

I really liked how realistic this book was when it came to following one's dreams and accomplishing one's goals. Winnie's dream has always been to become a successful playwright. She's not there yet though, and for now, is an assistant for the extremely successful playwright Juliette Brassette. In Winnie's eyes, Juliette is an amazing boss and friend. Juliette is a person Winnie dreams of becoming one day. So, of course when Juliette's world-famous play is getting staged at an experimental theatre company in London, England, Winnie continues to be the perfect assistant and follows Juliette to London to help her there. When Winnie gets to London, she meets Juliette's nephew Liam. DO I NEED TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? But, it's not always butterflies and sunshine. Juliette tells Winnie not to date Liam, and instead pushes her to see other men, and starts setting Winnie up with these terrible dates? Just so Juliette can get inspiration for her own writing? Hmmm, that's not very nice. Despite all of this, Winnie is seen to be extremely loyal to Juliette, and hangs on to her every word, especially when Juliette tells Winnie she'll read her script that she plans to submit for the upcoming competition. But, as the story goes on, one can tell that Juliette...only cares about herself. Even then, Winnie is still there for Juliette in every way, but at the same time, cannot resist Liam, because he's dreamy, adorable, and truly sees Winnie for her talent. He even gives her a reality check when it comes to her current assistant job. Is Juliette really a good boss, or is she preventing Winnie from reaching higher success? This book is definitely a lot of chaos, but it is a wonderful read about self-discovery and growth. AND YES LIAM IS THE DREAM BOYFRIEND WE ALL NEED.

I thought the romance was great and I wished the book was centered more around that than all the other storylines. I love the banter.

This book just landed a little "meh" for me. It was hard to get invested in the characters or the story. Perhaps it would be more interesting to someone with a stronger theater background, but for the most part, this book landed like a perfectly pleasant, run-of-the-mill romcom. The sexy scenes weren't anything to write home about. I wish I had more to say about it, but that's about where I landed!

Unfortunately I really struggled to get into this one. I may come back at a later time as I have enjoyed Kate Bromley's other book Talk Bookish to Me.

‘Here for the Drama’ by Kate Bromley was witty, fun, and sweet—it left me smiling. Highly recommend!

Love this quote ➡️ "It's like sweet Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Sexy-Ass Hyde."

This book was hitting all the points for me! Humor, easy to read, pulls you right in 😊
Winnie reluctantly agrees to a work trip to London with her boss, Juliette. She really should be working on submitting her own play but what Juliette wants, Juliette gets.

There she meets Juliette's nephew, Liam, and she's immediately interested. But Juliette makes it clear that it is not appropriate for Winnie to pursue Liam. Instead, she coerced Winnie to go on a few Internet dates for research on her next play.

But Winnie and Liam just can't seem to stay away from one another. This leads to Juliette showing how unrealistic her demands and expectations are. Is this boss/friendship over for good? Oh and there's a cute dog 😊

In her latest novel, Here for the Drama, Kate Bromley has created a wonderful rom com filled with her characteristic wit and humor. There was so much I enjoyed about this book including the setting (London!), the dynamic between Winnie and Liam, and Ollie’s role in the story. I appreciated Winnie’s journey as she discovered her confidence and pursued her dream. However, the dynamic between Winne and her boss, Juliette, wasn’t my favorite. There were moments when I enjoyed it, but other moments when it rubbed me wrong. This book was open door, though I felt like the steam was skippable. Overall, this was a fun, entertaining read perfect for contemporary romance fans.

*Thank you to Kate Bromley, Harlequin Trade Publishing, and Netgalley for an e-ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

Kate Bromley is the queen of banter and dialogue. Forbidden romance tropes are my favorite and this was one of her best. What’s better than a hot London romance? Nothing. Kate Bromley is the best!

I thought this was a cute story, but I didn’t love it. I listened to it on audio and that made it so much better for me then reading it. I really loved the London scenery and the play backdrop. I thought that made it more of a unique book. There is a sweet romance in this book with great banter. As well as a rescue dog!! I know others loved this book, so I highly recommend checking their thoughts on it. It may just not have been for me!

Thank you Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Winnie goes to London to help her boss, a playwright, oversee the production of one of her plays. There, she meets Liam, her boss's nephew and therefore off-limits and blurring the lines between personal and professional. Winnie is also an inspiring playwright and is willing to do whatever it takes to get published.

I loved the London and theatre setting. Fun to read about plays, rehearsals, and performances. Winnie was a great character and I loved her complex relationship with her boss, as the loss of her mother young made her look for a maternal figure. Overall a delightful read.

I switched between audio and print and enjoyed both versions. The audiobook narrator did a great job capturing the characters and accents.

This was such a fun rom com; it had the perfect blend of humor and introspection. I love introspection where the heroine reflects and grows as a person as she figures out what's working and not working in her life- both with her own beliefs and with those she spends her time with. Winnie does this well. It felt real and relatable.

I also loved learning more about the theater and play writing world; it was an enjoyable backdrop for the different storylines.

The different storylines include Winnie going on dates and enjoying time with her boss's nephew, Liam. And there's Winnie's demanding boss, Juliette, who has an estranged relationship of her own. And there's an adorable rescue dog. This was a great summer read, complete with smiles and just enough poignancy to keep me rooting for Winnie.

Thanks to the publisher for a copy. All opinions are my own.

Winnie is an aspiring playwright. Winnie’s boss Juliette takes her to London, to work on one of Juliette’s upcoming plays. While in London, she meets Juliette’s sexy nephew, Liam and that’s when the show really begins because Juliette does not want Winnie and Liam to get involved with one another.

I had so much fun reading this book and meeting these characters. I love Kate Bromley’s writing style. She write’s great banter, awesome characters and amazing storylines. Kate delivered a rom-com with deep emotions. I can’t wait to see what she writes next.

Talk Bookish to Me was one of my favourite books I read last year so I was so excited for Kate Bromley’s newest book. Unfortunately it fell extremely flat for me and was a big disappointment.

Here For the Drama is about Winnie who dreams of becoming a play write. She is the assistant to a famous play write and accompanies her to England for a special revival of her famous play.

While there, Winnie ends up meeting and falling for her bosses nephew Liam. For some reason her boss doesn’t want them to interact, and also wants her to go on dates for some reason. I don’t know, the plot was all over the place.

I love great banter in a book. However when every single conversation is crammed with banter and ever character is beyond witty, it’s completely exhausting. The dialogue was so far fetched it actually made me angry. No one is “on” all the time.

I also LOVE animals, specifically dogs. I have never wanted to hear less about a dog than I did with Ollie. Everyone’s obsession was so strange and honestly just annoying.

And speaking of annoying, I couldn’t stand Winnie. She grated on my nerves the entire way through and was a meddling busy body. She blamed everyone else for her unhappiness and was really just the worst. I also did not care even a little bit about playwriting, which isn’t great when the entire book revolves around it. I’m a huge fan of plays and musicals, but Winnie sucked the enjoyment out of it.

This book took me forever to get through because I really didn’t enjoy it, but it’s not in me to DNF. I’m so sad I didn’t like this one because Bookish was a 5 star for me. Unfortunately this was a big let down

This was even better than Bromley's first book. It was super cute and funny and I loved every page. If you love the art of Drama and you want to laugh so hard then this is the book for you to read.

This was centered around theatre/drama/playwrighting, but it also had some drama throughout the book. I liked how it was mostly set in London, and if you listen to the audiobook, the narrator does a great job with the accents! (I went back and forth between reading the physical book and the audiobook.)

I felt the characters' chemistry in my bones while reading this, and just the witty banter of them going back and forth was hilarious! I absolutely loved Liam as the cinnamon-roll male lead. 😍

This is a true rom-com that will make you laugh, make you 🥵, and make you cry. I can't believe how emotional I got at a certain part of the book. 😭😭😭

This was a mixed bag for me. The setup was unique and fun and the banter was ON POINT. Parts were great and entertaining, other parts fell flat. This read more chick-lit overall to me, which was probably part of my issue as I was expecting an actual romance/rom-com. I might have liked it better if I had adjusted my expectations going in.

A decent read, but didn’t fully immerse me in the whole story. Winnie and Juliette had a toxic work relationship that Winnie blindly ignored even when brought to her attention. Them going to London was a big eye opening moment especially finding out what Juliette was capable of while Ellie’s actions showed something completely different. It had its cute moments especially with Winnie and Liam but felt like the story was missing something.

Who else is Here for the Drama? This adorable romcom is out now from @katebromley. Thank you to @htpbooks for my gifted ebook!

Here for the Drama stars Winnie, an aspiring playwright who is working as an assistant for the famous playwright Juliette Brassard. They both go to London to help with the production of Juliette’s play, the Lights of Trafalgar. While in London, Juliette encourages Winnie to go out on dates with all of London’s eligible men… all except her nephew, Liam. You can see where this is headed!

Winnie is wrapped up in a dog she’s finds on the street and flirting with Liam to work on her own play. Ollie is one of the highlights of the book; I love how everyone just loves him and they dote on him immediately. Winnie doesn’t seem that serious about her play sometimes and I think that’s just her own self doubt. Juliette’s other assistant Roshni was a delight and she does a good job of talking up Winnie’s spirits.

This is definitely a lighter romantic comedy and I enjoyed that part of it. There’s a little heaviness with her father selling Winnie’s childhood home and bonding with her stepmother, but that’s all.

This is a great enemies-to-lovers romance and I will definitely be reading more of Bromley in the future!
