The road to becoming a famous playwright isn't always straight, and Winnie has been learning that for the last five years as playwright Juliette Brassard's assistant. Now, Juliette is heading to London to work on a re-staging of Juliette's most famous pay, The Lights of Trafalgar, taking Winnie with her. Meanwhile, Winnie is working on finishing her own play, name TBD, to submit for a contest she has been hopeful to win for years. Winnie gets wrapped up in all the right things in London-- romance, adventure, a cute rescue dog, and, of course, a bit of drama. Her relationships and her future goals will be put to the test over the three short weeks before the play debuts.
This was such a heartwarming book to read! One of those palatable stories that leaves a smile on your face throughout the entire thing. The characters are all complex and likeable, though, at the start, they seem surface-level and blunted. The character development throughout makes them more relatable and thoroughly enjoyable to get to know. I particularly enjoyed the fun and witty banter between all of the characters, but especially between Winnie and Liam. Winnie is a great main character because she's relatable. She's a bit weird and awkward, she works a little too hard, and sets herself a bit too short. Winnie, like most of us, has to learn how to set realistic expectations and meet her own standards for success, whether that's on her career path or in her interpersonal relationships. All I can say is that this book was so sweet and cute and has me wanting to hop on a plane to London to dip my toe in the acting game, too.

Thank you Harlequin Publishing and Net Galley for the opportunity to review this ARC!
I will probably end up buying this book because I didn't realize this was a PDF. I like reading books in MOBI or epub formats best. Thank you for the chance!
Here For The Drama is Bromley’s sophomore novel, and I honestly lapped it right up. It was delightful – I couldn’t have loved the characters more. I love a good romcom and this story covered all the best bits, but felt fresh and new – which I adored.
I appreciate when an author manages to walk that delicate balance of creating real, unique, flawed and yet loveable characters. Each character here felt that way to me – Juliette, Winnie, Liam. They all were interesting and brought their own issues, hopes and dreams – but they felt so real. Like old friends, I wanted the best for them, I was rooting for them – I was mad at them and frustrated with them, but in the best way. And lest I forget our little standout – Ollie, I loved you from the start!
I was intrigued and invested in the story the whole way through and was pleasantly surprised with how the story played out. I had guesses along the way and was happy to not be right.
There are certain things that when done well work and when not – well you get the idea. For me, time jumps and epilogues both fall into this category – and when they are done right it’s just **chef’s kiss** perfection and it gives me goose bumps – well Kate Bromley brought it. I was so here for this drama (I had to do it) – it unfolded perfectly and I was honestly worrying as the book was winding down – so many pieces and how to get the HEA and the big emotional pay off but not make it feel rushed or forced?!
I honestly was scared but it was amazing – perfection, the ending had all I wanted and more, I’m gushing but it is well deserved. The ending was thoughtful, satisfying and really tied things up the way I was hoping and in such a natural way.
All this to say, I really enjoyed this book immensely – I recommend you give it a go if you too are a fan of romcoms, theatre, adorable pups, and ‘visiting’ London. I very much look forward to what Ms. Bromley releases next.
I read an advanced copy, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own and freely offered. Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing / Graydon House for the opportunity to sneak a peek at an early release!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Graydon House for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Last summer I picked up Bromley’s first book ‘Talk Bookish to Me’ and I absolutely fell in love with it! Kate Bromley became an auto-buy author for me FOR SURE. So, you can imagine my excitement when I got the opportunity to read this one!
Here for the Drama was just as fun to read as the authors first book! Right from the start it gave me ‘Emily in Paris’ vibes, so if you enjoyed that show I would suggest giving this book a try. I got sucked right into all the drama and adventures facing the main character, Winnie. I laughed along side Winnie, got charmed by Liam, wanted to stand up with her to Juliette, and even shed a few tears. Luckily, I am already a dog momma, because Ollie definitely made me want to go get a dog! I could not put this one down. This is a book that I kept finding myself smiling while I was reading. It was just so enjoyable to read – from the characters flirty banter to the magic of the London theatre scene, what’s not to love!
So, if you love the theatre, or just love a fun rom-com, pre-order now to read this book when it comes out on June 21st, 2022!
This book captivated me right from the beginning! The writing was hilarious. Witty. Entertaining. Winnie and Liam were easy to
Love! Honestly loved every second of this book.
After really enjoying "Talk Bookish to Me," I was looking forward to reading Kate Bromley's second book. While I dind't enjoy this book nearly as much as her first, it was still an enjoyable read. Three stars.
Im here for the quirky and quick comebacks and the supportive friendships. Here For The Comeback is funny and makes you want an Ollie all of your own.
4/5
I really liked this book! I really do like Kate Bromley’s style of writing (obviously because Talk Bookish to Me is one of my favourite books) but this book in particular was really good!
I would just like to point out that this is my second theatre inspired book that I’ve read this year and we are only three months in… is this the year of theatre book? I guess we’ll find out LOL! This book follows Winnie who is an aspiring playwright but for now she is an assistant to Juliette. They soon find out that a company wants to stage Winnie’s boss’ play IN. LONDON. ENGLAND (Yes please, take me with you next time) so they pack their bags and go!
Winnie is desperate for Juliette to look at her work so they make a deal - her boss will look at and critique her work only if Winnie agrees to go on a date with a bunch of men for Juliette so she can draw inspiration from her. Neither of them anticipated that Winnie would hit it off with her bosses nephew, Liam.
I seriously have nothing but good things to say about this book it was such a fun read, the banter was TOP NOTCH, the writing was so addictive and the story was great! Loved it so much!
Thank you to NetGalley and Graydon House (Harlequin Trade Publishing) for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. I found it exciting to be in this world of theatre and found the dynamics between the characters quite interesting.
I think the friendship of Roshni and Winnie was probably my favorite, as well as the banter between Winnie and Liam.
Definitely was an easy to read romance with heartfelt moments.
Juliette is the personal assistant to a famous playwright and is a budding playwright herself. She travels with her boss to London to help stage a play where she meets Liam, her boss’s nephew. Although her boss has forbidden her from seeing Liam she persists. Juliette has mostly written her own play and tries to get her boss to read it. To no avail. In the end Juliette realizes she will have to move on to a different job and work on her play in order to grown into a successful person. By the way, her father decides to sell the family home, another example of her needing to move on and grow up and is fairly obvious symbolism. Her romance with Liam is slow-tracked so he can finish a responsibility as she too takes on the responsibility of her new job and the completion of her play.
This book is about coming of age even though the character is in her 30s. It is about finding yourself (what a cliche I’m using!) more than about romance. But finding your self-romance along with an outside romance is also what is is about. It has a slow burn and has obvious symbolism and foreshadowing at times. But it is well worth reading and is enjoyable. I can imagine talking about it in a book talk but am not sure I could justify putting it in my budget as I save that for 4.5-5’s.
Kate Bromley's second title, Here for the Drama, does not disappoint! The dialogue was snappy and witty, and the attraction and relationship between Winnie and Liam was adorable. I kept getting Devil Wears Prada vibes too. It was fun to read about London, the theater scene, and how there's always room to grow and change, regardless of age.
Thank you for this early gifted copy!
I loved Kate’s first book, and was excited when I saw she had a second book coming out. And I’ll just say, it didn’t disappoint! This was a great book and storyline. I loved the characters and the focus on multiple relationships.
I hope that Kate continues to write more books!
Wow! Kate Bromley is absolutely queen of witty banters! The outstanding smart and sarcastic tone of dialogues made me laugh so hard!
Her characters are also adorable including aspiring, loyal, smart, highly educated author Winnie and book boyfriend Liam who is yummier than red velvet cupcake stole my heart with their playful manners and hot chemistry!
Theater world aspect is well blended with the romance and a woman’s self growth themes.
The pacing was great. I didn’t want to put it down for a second!
Let’s take a quick look to the plot: Winnie is dreaming to be successful playwright, working on her on project to apply for a competition, I’d still devoted assistant of famous writer Juliette Brassard who is a big defender of women rights.
She asks to Juliette read her play and give her honest opinions and Juliette asks her to date a few guys and report her back to get inspired for her next play. They make a deal but when Juliette’s nephew appears out of nowhere, their plans are doomed to be derailed because that red haired temptation confuses Winnie’s mind! It’s obvious their attraction is mutual! Then Winnie starts questioning her life decisions. Why she never puts her needs first?
Sweet, entertaining, intelligent, addictive! I loved this book more than “Talk Bookish to me” and giving my five playwright stars!
Special thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest thoughts.
Becoming a famous playwright is all Winnie ever dreamed about. For now, though, she'll have to settle for assisting the celebrated, sharp-witted feminist playwright Juliette Brassard. When an experimental theater company in London, England, decides to stage Juliette's most renowned play, The Lights of Trafalgar, Winnie and Juliette pack their bags and hop across the pond.
But the trip goes sideways faster than you can say "tea and crumpets." Juliette stubbornly butts heads with the play's director and Winnie is left stage-managing their relationship. Meanwhile, Winnie's own work seems to have stalled, and though Juliette keeps promising to read it, she always has some vague reason why she can't. Then, Juliette's nephew, Liam, enters stage left. He's handsome, he's smart, he is devastatingly British…and his family ties to Juliette pose a serious problem, forcing Winnie to keep their burgeoning relationship on the down-low. What could go wrong?
Winne and Liam have the best chemistry. Their banter is smart, funny and sassy. Love the setting and all the details about London and the theater. It's fast moving and has so much drama at the same time. A fun rom-com.
Thanks to the publisher for providing an arc.
4.5 stars
I laughed. I cried. I didn't want it to end. I loved the banter between Winnie and Liam. I wanted to throttle Juliette. However, Ollie, the rescue pup, stole the show. The only part I didn't love was the epilogue. It seemed a little too forced.
Thank you Harlequin and NetGalley for the digital ARC in return for an honest review.
I adore sarcastic and witty banter and this book had it in spades especially between Liam, Winnie and Roshini. However, my only complaint is that it occurred so often that it often didn't feel like actual dialogue but rather a perpetual comedy show. That being said, I appreciated the strength of Winnie and her realization of her being able to put her needs and likes first rather than five years dedicated to Juliette. In falling back in love with herself, she achieved success both in love and work. A great read.
I am totally here for the drama!
I finished this book in one sitting I enjoyed it so much! This is my second book that I'm reading from Kate Bromley, and I can say with full confidence that she does some amazing banter. The dialogues between characters is magical, will make you laugh and feel all kinds of squishy feelings! I LOVE Liam, cute British book boyfriend?? I found one! Who doesn't want a cute red-head that likes to joke around?? The relationship between Winnie and Liam was playful and fun with tons of witty banter from the first phone call and I was SO here for it!
I also love the theatre aspect of this entire book. I've never actually gone to a theatre, but I do have a theatre course that I took next semester and this book has certainly prepared me, I'm so excited!
And oh yes! There is drama!!!
Keep them coming Kate because I'm loving your books!
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the earc in return for an honest review.

Winnie and Liam’s character dynamics were so entertaining ! I adored this plot and this book. I freaking loved the sassy banter!!
Having enjoyed the author's first rom-com, Talk Bookish to Me, I was eager to read her sophomore novel, and I wasn't disappointed. Here for the Drama is a more polished book, with more original characters and sparkling dialogue.
Winnie is a highly-educated aspiring playwright who has been assistant to acclaimed playwright Juliette for five years. She hopes to enter her own work-in-progress to an annual competition and longs for Juliette to read and comment on it. When they travel to London for a restaging of Juliette's most celebrated play, Juliette agrees to a quid pro quo--she will read and critique Winnie's play if Winnie will consent to date a few men and report back to her. Juliette plans to use that feedback to spark her creativity for her next work. But neither expects Winnie and Juliette's attractive but nerdy nephew, Liam--the son of her long-estranged sister--to fall into an easy relationship that may or may not become more than they reckoned for.
What I particularly enjoyed was the nuanced personalities and behavior of the primary characters. Winnie comes to realize that there is more to the woman she has idolized than she knew, and that Juliette has a depth of sadness that keeps her from being the person she wants to be. Winnie herself is agonizing over whether to stick with her current involvement in the theater or to strive for something bigger for herself. And then there's that banter between Winnie and Liam that made me laugh out loud more than a few times. A charming book!
My thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for allowing me to read and honestly review this book.
Fun! I love theater. NYC, London and dogs so this was right up my alley. Enjoyable, light read. Would recommend.
