I picked this book because of the premise of two teens in a long distance relationship and how they dwelt with it. That wasn’t what this book was about. There were two teens/best friends, Jonah and Clove, that moved to a new city together because of their dads new jobs. I liked the main characters, but the side drama was ridiculous. I also missed that this was book two in a series. I think reading book one would have been helpful. I liked the ending though. Overall, it was a nice and sweet romance that an younger audience might enjoy. It just wasn’t meant for me.
I received this ARC from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest review and opinion.
i requested this book from netgalley, the description sounded like it was gonna be a cute romance. and it was, i really liked both main characters, the book is told by j.j and cloves points of view, and each point of view is short and reads really fast and easy. theres also text msgs too sometimes. i really liked j.j character and has a love interest and how clove and j.j have been friends for long time, i like the friends to more than friends trope. j.j was understanding and helpful to clove specially when she was feelin sad and down bc of her moms death/accident and her dealing with her grief. they would always also help each other when one of them needed help, like when j.j movin truck gets stolen clove buys him a new guitar and asks her uncle to try to find j.j stuff. they always there for each other. its funny how everyone around them seems to realise and see that both j.j and clove have feelings for each other but they arent together yet. i just wanted them to tell each other how they really felt instead of pretending they dont or when clove told rosario that she can ask j.j out and or when clove goes out with benny, which adds a bit of drama and confusion. at least both benny and rosario are also good friends and noticed that j.j and clove like each other and that they belong to each other. also maverick was soo annoyin and stupid and rude to clove and j.j. i was hopin j.j wouldnt get into a fist fight again so im glad he doesnt. so overall i recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a cute easy to read contemporary romance book with trope of friends that become more than friends.
