Enjoyed returning to Schulyer's world. I really like the first books in the series, so curious to see where this new vein will go! I recommend to anyone who read the first books in the series and to anyone who loves vampire tales.

It has been sometime from last I read the past book in this series. I felt the story was a little slow but it could just be me and remembering the characters and plot overall. Read all the series again before jumping in. I do feel that the character's are growing more so then I remember them and the plot of this one is still enjoyable.

This continuation of a series moves the character arcs along while providing fresh content. I'd definitely recommend that you read others in the series. There's definitely backstory that will add to your understanding of this one!

I've been following this series since it's debut, and I was a bit skeptical of the synopsis of the latest After Life, that promised the AU to end all AUs. Melissa really brought her A-game. She managed to bring Blue Bloods right back to the classic YA feel, while making the material itself have way less of that hollow Gossip Girl vibe. She also diversified the heck out of her cast and we love to see it!!

Melissa boldly slashed and hacked at her canon, but still managed to make all these changes believable within the context of the story. I literally could not put this book down, even if most of that was me trying to wrap my head around all these drastic differences. I had a lot of fun and can't wait for the next installment.

(Loses one star because I think Vampires of Manhattan was by far the most intriguing story set in this world, and its a shame the story went in this direction instead.)

I was a Blue Bloods fan as a teen myself so when I heard of this I knew I needed it for the library. I love the diversity in this new world!

After so long it's interesting to gen an entry in this series; it's a little reliant on the previous books for context and as book 9 of a series which hasn't seen a release in almost a decade it might not be a good fit for out library.

This read was just what I needed to get out of a slump I have been in! It was engaging, easy to fall into and kept me thoroughly entertained. I love it when a story becomes like an afternoon spent with a good friend and "restores your soul" with its goodness and delight. This is a book of that nature. It is sure to bring a smile to your face and it will not disappoint!

When you’ve lost your soulmate and love, will your heart ever find its way back as you enter the multiverse? Incredible read and oh what a ride as we see our favorite characters: The Force Twins, Schuyler, Oliver, and of course, Kingsley Martin!

I love how there is always hope, even when all seems lost. The interactions between the Force Twins brought me back to the first novel, which was just as deliciously wicked then as it is now. As the author has matured, so have these characters, thankfully. I’m also at a different stage in my life and gone is the endless shopping at the mall and who looks better, etc.

The ending is too much of a turn on its axis in an “oh no you didn’t!” great way. I am so glad this book is a rewrite of the original series but better if that’s possible. Wait, it is!!

Special thanks to NetGalley and Disney Publishing Worldwide for sending me this digital review copy in exchange for my honest opinions. This book literally had me on the edge of my seat. A must-follow series!

It's not that I'm disappointed that there's another Blue Bloods novel, but I definitely question why we remade it. It was solidly paced with some minor changes (more diverse casting woo!) but overall, I wasn't the biggest fan.

Just as good as the original blue bloods series! I loved the alternate universe storyline! Great attention to details I was sucked back in from page one. And Max…. Oh Max! Please please continue this story!!

I was really excited going into this since Blue Bloods was one of my favorite series growing up. It was great to be back with some familiar characters even though they were all a bit different. I love how the soul mates and bondmates remain true even across different universes. The big reveal at the end was something that I had predicted from the beginning of the book, so that was what kept this from being a five star read for me. I did miss some of the og series characters and I hope that they will be brought back as this new series continues on.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Disney Publishing Worldwide and Melissa de la Cruz for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts and opinions are 100% my own and independent of receiving an advance copy.

Blue Bloods is a series that Melissa de la Cruz wrote that contains seven books in the series. The series ran from 2006-2013. The big finish was when Schuyler defeated Lucifer but losing her love, Jack in the process. This book picks up with Schuyler transported to an alternate universe. For any Marvel fans out there, think multiverse. Things are the same but different. She now has a mother and a father, something she always wanted. Of course Jack doesn’t know who she is in this world and Mimi is now Max. Both brothers are now fighting for Luicfer instead of against him. Can Schuyler defeat Lucifer again? Can she fight against Jack or even worse, can she lose him again.

This was was not for me. Full disclosure, I had never read the previous books, so I was completely unfamiliar with the series and the characters. Most of the book was rehashing the old series with Schuyler lamenting how different things are now. Perhaps because I wasn’t already invested in these characters, I never really felt anything for any of them. I didn’t feel like they were full characters and with no development, I wasn’t invested. I get that Schulyer loved Jack but for this story, I had no real interest in whether they ended up together or not.

The story was almost non existent. I’m not sure if this is meant to kick off a new series (probably) and so this serves as an introduction to the new world, but it sounds pretty much the same. Lucifer bad, good should defeat bad and love conquers all. Change a few genders and hair colours and it seems like window dressing. Still, I could have been interested, if something actually happened to make me care about either the characters, the love story, or the good vs evil. We didn’t even get into the vampire stuff that could have been interesting. Schuyler was given blood so never hungry, never bit anyone = boring vamp. The action didn’t even begin until after I was 80% of the way through the book.

I will probably go back and read the first in the series, just to see if what all the hoopla was about the first time around. I was really disappointed because I had heard so much about Melissa de la Cruz and was looking forward to reading her stuff. I”m hoping this was a one off and that she is as amazing an author as I had expected.

It has been years since I finished the Blue Bloods series and I couldn't believe that Melissa de la Cruz was publishing a new book located in this universe.

I enjoyed every moment I spent reading this book. The memories that came back to my mind when I started reading the first page were overwhelming and nostalgic at the same time. Now, this book has a couple of changes from the previous books, thank god Marvel introduced the multiverse in the MCU and made it simple for everyone to understand.

The book is fast-paced and highly enjoyable. De la Cruz didn't hesitate to include suspense in the scenes, which are also action-packed and full of emotions.

Now I'll have to wait for the next book!

Schuyler has just sacrificed Jack in order to defeat Lucifer when she wakes up in 2020 New York. Not only is the city not as she remembers it, but she also isn’t in her regular body and everyone else is different in some way. She quickly finds out that she isn’t in her New York … she is in a different universe. Here, Lucifer is still alive and the mayor of New York; Jack is also alive, but is Lucifer’s right-hand man. Schuyler doesn’t know what is going on and then Kingsley contacts her. He remembers their world and has his own ideas about what has happened. Will Schuyler be able to defeat Lucifer again?

Blue Bloods: After Life is a spin-off of the original Blue Bloods series. I found it interesting that the time jump brings the characters into the fall of the Covid-19 outbreak (in our world) and the vampires were taking advantage of a mysterious illness and the vaccine that was being released. If this is a one-and-done spin-off book, it was fun and worth the read. If this becomes a new series, though, I will need to save my thoughts to see where de la Cruz plans to go with the storyline. It was a nice escape to revisit old characters and this might be the introduction needed to bring this series back into the hands of young readers.

Back in 2013, the alleged final installment in author Melissa de la Cruz's Blue Bloods ended with Gates of Paradise. 9 years later, the author returns with Blue Bloods: After Life which features some of the same characters like Schuyler Van Alen, Jack Force, Oliver Hazard Perry, and Kingsley Martin. Here's the facts: The story takes place in 2020 which is apparently 10 years from the ending of Gates of Paradise.

Schuyler Cervantes-Chase is actually younger (15) than she was in the previous series (18), and her actual parents; Stephen Chase, and Aurora Cervantes, are alive and well. In the previous installments, Schuyler's mother was Gabrielle and her father, Chase, was dead. If you know anything at all about this series, you know that Schuyler is a Blue Blood vampire. She's also 1/2 human on her father's side. She still has to feed on human blood which is where Oliver comes in.

In this reality, both parents are apparently human which makes zero sense. I am hoping the author clears up that confusion quickly. Oliver Hazard-Perry is here, but his last name has been changed to Golding-Chang. Jack Force is here as well, but his sister Mimi, is now his twin brother Max Force. Jack is also the fallen Angel known as Abbadon, Max is the Angel of Death.

The only character who seems to be the same is Kingsley Martin who was soul bound to Mimi now Max. Schuyler had hoped that she would find her happy ending. She thought that the universe isn't done with her. Unfortunately, Schuyler's conscious somehow gets sent to the year 2020 where she wakes up in her doppelganger but she still has her old memories as well.

She quickly learns that Lucifer has somehow managed to travel back in time and change the history. It also appears that he has unleashed a disease that is killing humans. Unlike our pandemic, this disease wasn't created by Chinese scientists. To make things even more disturbing, Blue Bloods are luring humans to clinics to drain their blood, and Jack is Lucifer’s right hand man alongside his brother Max who is working towards the Silver Legacy solution.

What's worse, Kingsley believes that Schuyler was intentionally sent her to fight Lucifer and defeat him and correct all the wrongs he's set on the universe. So, while Schuyler has joined with Kingsley in stopping Lucifer, Max and Jack are having their own issues dealing with memories that seem to be cropping up. I should also talk about the fact that Schuyler isn't the only narrator, as Max, Jack, and Oliver get some part of this story.

The problem I have with this series, and I am prepared for the negative commentary, is that Schuyler and Oliver and Mimi were intentionally changed to satisfied certain members of the authors fan club. As an originalist, I don't care for changing character for the sake of change or to impress a core group to get them to purchase my product. The only good part of this new incantation is that there's no high school drama, shopping sprees, parties, and jet setting journeys abroad. Do I think I'll continue to read this series? Maybe when the author figures out what she's doing, and how much more pain and suffering and betrayal Schuyler has to deal with.

I was unable to finish this book and thus will not be posting a full review. I loved this series and this book does more damage to its memory than I could have predicted. It is not good. Thank you for the opportunity and consideration.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book brings back a lot of nostalgia as I read the Blue Bloods series back in high school and LOVED them. This book brought back all those feelings and I enjoyed that feeling of nostalgia. This is a very interesting take on vampires and was a decent read.

The blue bloods are back but this definitely is not the world Schuyler just fell asleep in Jack is but doesn’t know her, her parents are alive, her best friend has a different last name, oh and Lucifer just isn’t back he is the mayor of New York city and the only that seems to know what is going on is Kingsley.
This was a wonderful new book in the Blue Bloods series, we waited for it and it did not disappoint. This book is packed with action and suspense, it will leave you asking for more and I hope we don’t have to wait to long for it.

When I first heard this book was coming out I expected to have a fun trip down memory lane. Instead I found myself struggling to connect to this book. It is very repetitive with how it keeps explaining who these characters are and what is going on. It made it extremely hard to connect to the characters. Honestly this is not worth the read
