These Twisted Bonds is a captivating young adult fantasy romance novel that follows Brie on a journey of self-discovery, love, and redemption. The story is told from Brie's perspective, and the character development is excellent. Brie and Finn's chemistry is NEXT-LEVEL adorable, making it a quick and easy read.
The author's world-building is impressive and expands on the setting from the first book. The plot is exciting and includes unexpected twists that add to the fun.
Brie's character development is excellent, and it's heartwarming to see how she discovers more about herself and her purpose. Finn is a protective, attractive, and courageous character who will do anything to safeguard his people and Brie. Argh Who wouldn't want that?!?!?
These Twisted Bonds is a satisfying young adult fantasy romance book with magic, great chemistry between characters, and a fake-dating trope <3 The beginning is well-paced, however, I found the middle section felt a bit slow.
I'm saddened that the series has come to an end. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves young adult fantasy romance!!!
A worthy successor to a solid YA fantasy entry; the resolution was a bit fast however satisfying. Could have happily read a third entry into this duology.
This was a great ending to this story. I would love another two book series where we get to see her sister's tale and her finding love, etc. This one had a great flow and kept me on my toes as Arabella found out what she needed to do in her new body with her new power. I will say that I guessed the twist that was in this one but that was ok. It was still enjoyable even knowing what was going to come out at the end. The characters were fabulous and the story was so good.
This sequel to These Hollow Vows is the ending we all deserved. The second installment expands the fairy world and the magic that it is steeped in. The bonds and relationships are also expanded and give friction that give this a slightly less fluff feel. This was a fast paced fantasy romance that was a quick and satisfying ride.

This book and I are in our enemies to lovers to enemies to lovers era.... switching up forever.
Listen, I enjoyed this book and also did not. It was slow in places and so enticing. However, I won't lie that I still like Bash; I strangely saw more chemistry with her and Bash than she and Finn (although it could be because I didn't adore him in book one).
The plot with the throne being unwilling to allow either heir to sit on it and the unbalanced power on either side causing sleeping sickness in children was a great twist. Still, I felt the romance took away from it, and I wish this were a trilogy so we could have had more pace with that plot and time with it.
Even though I had a few issues with the plot & our main character, I did enjoy this book and can happily round up to 4 stars!
Thank you NetGalley and Hachette for the physical copy. Unfortunately this series isn't for me. I wasn't a fan of the first one and tried again with this one but I don't think it's for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this ARC.
Description from NetGalley:
After Abriella's sister was sold to the fae, she thought life couldn't get any worse. But when she suddenly finds herself caught in a web of lies of her own making--loving two princes and trusting neither--things are not quite as clear as she once thought.
As civil war wages in the Court of Darkness, Brie finds herself unable to choose a side. How can she know where she stands when she doesn't even know herself anymore? In this darkly romantic thrill ride, the more Faerie is torn apart from the inside, the clearer it becomes that prophecies don't lie and Brie has a role to play in the fate of this magical realm--whether she likes it or not.
This is the sequel to These Hollow Vows and completes the duology. I’m glad that it is a duology. I think that often what could be duologies are often stretched into trilogies and take forever to move the plot along. Like the first one, the plot takes off and doesn't really slow down. I was reminded a lot of the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. With the relationship of both our protagonist and two males. I wanted to wring the neck of Sebastian the entire time. I felt so much for Brie and what has been thrust upon her. I did think that some of the plot twists were a bit much, but I also chalk that up to being YA and having lots of fantasy tropes. If you liked the first one, you will like this one.
Overall: 4/5
A solid sequal to what was an okay first book. This series has nothing wrong with it, it just doesn't quite wow amongst the land of all the other YA Fantasy books. Happy for the hype it gets, however just reminds me that my time and love for the YA genre is slowly drifting away.
I loved the first book in this series, so I was READY for the second one. I still love the characters, and I really enjoyed how they wrapped the story up. I appreciated the resolution of the love triangle, usually that is my least favorite trope EVER. I would love a third book, or a spin off series, to see where they end up a few years down the road! I did think the “bad guy” was taken care of a little too fast, but that is just me wanting the book to be longer! I also thought it being a duology instead of a trilogy or longer was refreshing. Sometimes I want an epic series, but sometimes I don't!
I was given an advanced reader's copy via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own
This second instalment by Lexi Ryan was just as entertaining as the first.
The love triangle pulled out all of my emotions.
The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat
And Misha, oh my god, Misha!!! I need more of him!!!!
It's a bittersweet moment. turning the final page of this duology, because it's been a hell of a ride and I don't want to say goodbye.
I'm praying that a future spin-off is potentially in the works.
This was very much a love story, full of forbidden romance, angst and all the heat. The heat level was high in this book, definitely not a series for younger YA, more upper YA and adult in my opinion with all the sex that takes place. Keep in mind that this is a sequel to a duology so they need to be read in order for the story to make any sense. For the most part all loose ends were wrapped up nicely and this was a satisfying HEA kind of ending. I will keep my eye out for more books from this author in the future and I recommend this for anyone who likes dark stories with forbidden love, hard choices, Fey antics and court intrigue and lots of cool and scary magic.
I absolutely loved the first book in this duology, and was honestly a bit bummed by this book. It felt simultaneously too long but also rushed, and I don't feel like I got a sense of completeness about the characters when it was over. The love triangle felt really frustrating, and I wish that she had just been with one of them throughout the series so we could watch one relationship grow while all of this happened.
I really, really enjoyed the first book in this duology. I remember vividly breezing through it and screeching at so many points towards the end of the book, particularly because of the cliffhanger and I was so eager and excited to get started on the sequel.
Unfortunately, I soon found myself growing....irked with it. Firstly, there's a decent amount of action in this book, alongside some plot twists that have you screeching! I did figure out who the traitor was, but that didn't make the reveal any less screech-worthy though it was a bit disappointing considering his apparent loyalty and the flimsy excuse after everything he's been through with his buddy but that's neither here nor there. There were plot twists. There was intrigue. We got to meet new characters and I LOVED Misha. Like, please can he have his own book?! I also loved the conclusion for the most part, like I'm happy for who she ended up with but the stakes in it seemed pretty low. I'm not really sure how to describe it? I was expecting angst and a heart-wrenching scene with some kind of sacrifice but after everything it fell a little flat. At least my ship won though, so there's that! I also felt like Brie built up her sister's hatred of the fae so much that I was expecting some big angsty scene when they were reunited but she was just cool with it?
Like, everything was wrapped up neatly but it seemed almost too neat? With a few things not addressed as properly as they could have been or with as much care but that might just be me.
Brie really started to irk me in this book as well, she was just too self deprecating? She seemed to constantly be going on about how she wasn't pretty and she wasn't this or that and I was kind of like...I think we have bigger issues going on but okay. Sebastian also continued to annoy me because you'd think he might listen to what she has to say if he wanted to fix things but nope, stubbornly ignoring it because he wanted a chance even though he already had one and he screwed it up?!
I really feel like this book was a bit rushed and sloppy, in all honesty. The plot wasn't as solid as it was in the first book, it felt like things were randomly thrown in and other things weren't followed through on, like Brie's sister for example. I was expecting to not see her again or have some big angsty thing with Brie being a fae and her sister hating them and her coming to like them or something, I don't know but it just seemed like Brie built up a fuss over nothing in the end. Not to mention all the talk of permanence but there just so happened to be a way to do this or that, it was very convenient and very easy in a lot of places.
I wasn't a fan of the writing either. I can't remember if this was an issue in the first book, I'm assuming not looking back at my review of it, but I very quickly got annoyed by the constant use of 'male'. Brie used it over and over and I didn't think it was necessary? It really took me out of the book, in all honesty and it grew insanely annoying and repetitive.
Overall, I just felt this was a little lackluster and the love triangle kind of fell flat for me in the end which is a shame because I'd been so hyped for this.
I was SO excited to read this, but I just ended up being so let down. The first book was so good, but the heroine was so weak and wishy washy in this one.
This book was absolutely amazing. I loved the first and could not wait for this one, it continued the story right where the first left off. I was thrilled by how the story and characters progressed and it was such a fun time to read. The characters definitely go through it, don't get me wrong. But the way the story goes you can't help but read and read!
A great sequel! I still had a few things I wanted more of, but with being a duology that can be hard to pack into 2 books! I can’t wait to read more from this author!
Very much anticipated this sequel and it did not disappoint! Loved every minute of it and I'm glad I was able to jump back into this world right where it left off! All of the plot twists had my emotions in a twist most of the time and I was left wishing it never had to end!
While I did not like this book, we will be getting it for the library as some of the kids like it. I can’t get over the similarities to Sarah J Maas’s books, multiple of her books. But the kids like the duology.
I loved the first book in this duo so so much. But unfortunately this sequel fell a bit flat for me. I enjoyed the last few chapters a lot, and I’m very happy with who she ended up with. But the journey to get to those good parts was lack luster. The narrator was good; very expressive with their voice and had distinctive changes for different characters.
Brie was plunged into the face realm and is now the key to saving it again. She works with various friends and foes to try to take down the Queen for good and save the Unseelie that are being abused. Will she be able to put her personal feeling and goals aside for the sake of the suffering children?
I LOVED this book! The first one was a amazing and this one was as well. Brie is torn between the two fae princes (I however was not torn at all) as she tries to save the world again. it was a swoon read and full of adventure and even had some twists.
Recommend to any fantasy and fae lovers.
