This tale was a hard one for me to get into. I kept putting it down to read something more fast paced. While I love zombie novels, this one was just such a slow burn and more of a science espionage than a horror novel it was toted to be. This one will definitely interest some, not so much gore/fast paced zombie fans.
Thank you to NetGalley, the authors, and Sterling & Stone for a copy.
A horrible pandemic starts, 6 months later a partial cure is found. Sound familiar? Ian, Alice, August and Bobby all get parts of the story and when an informant brings them together the truth comes out. The drug company responsible for ending the pandemic was responsible for its beginning. A lot of real or possible hard science makes for difficult reading at times for those without a background in biology, genetics or similar studies but the story is a pure dream for all those conspiracy theorists out there! Overall very interesting and entertaining.
I received this book from Netgalley. Thanks to the author and publishers for making it available.
This was one of those face-paced thrillers that made me a reader! The story gets you involved quickly, carrying you along as you watch everything unfold. This book is riveting, blood-pumping, nail-biting action that continues to keep you engaged. You turn pages, reading on as you anxiously watch the main character as he beats a ticking clock. This has all the elements of a well-loved book series that will leave it’s mark.
This was suppose to be a zombie book but falls more to the thriller genre. Even though there are zombies in it.
I've read alot of Zombie books and this was not a good one. To much farma information about al the drugs and pills that you got lost in it.
I didn't like the characters in the story and the world building fell flat.
Not a book for me.
Sean Platt co-writer of Yesterday's Gone is what drew me to this book. I love zombie fiction and thought this was a great start to a new series. I cannot wait to read more.
As I started reading this, at first I thought this was going to be an awesome book. But as I was reading, I realized that it was basically a zombie like story plot. Don't get me wrong, the plot was okay and interesting, but because it was a zombie sort of plot, I just couldn't see myself reading more of these books. It started slow, and it felt like a soap opera. Thus why I am only giving this a rating of 3 stars!
Interesting book with a different spin on the zombie apocalypse genre. There is a bit of gore, biting and eating, but mostly it's more of a thriller set in world where zombies exist. Interesting lead characters who are all flawed in one way or the other and the writer managed to connect all the players together coming to an explosive conclusion leaving the reader to wonder how everything is going to develop further. I will for sure keep my eye out for the next book!
***Thank you Netgalley for giving me the chance to read and review this book***
Not being a huge zombie fan I didn't expect to like Dead City, much to my surprise I did! Clever concept with the zombies. In our current world situation this book made me ponder many things. Well done.
Sterling & Stone,
Thank You for this eARC!
Dead City
by Sean Platt and Johnny B. Truant
I thoroughly enjoyed this story!
The pace of this story is quick, the tension relentless and the characters were great!
I've been getting more and more into science fiction novels, especially apocalypse theme reads.
And these characters surely didn't disappoint here.
Dead City is an intelligently written and remarkably provocative book that held my attention throughout the entire story.
