Cowboys, K-9s, and blooming romance all in the course of a romantic suspense? Count me in. Undercover K-9 Cowboy is the fourth novel in the Midnight Pass, Texas series, but it can easily be read as a stand alone. Featuring an FBI agent with a working dog who is trying to stem the trafficking of controlled substances across the Mexican border into Texas, but he must convince a yoga instructor/rancher that it’s in the best interest of her family as well as the United States to use their ranch for a sting to investigate the flow of drugs into the country.

Ryder Durant has had a successful career with the FBI, and he’s been assigned to the Midnight Pass area for over a year. He’s encountered the smart, attractive woman who runs a yoga studio in town while also managing the impressive Reynold’s ranch with her brothers and their wives. Things haven’t been that great for Arden and her family throughout this series, and the bits and pieces that are relevant from the previous books are nicely filled in throughout the book.

Arden Reynolds has resolved to be a spinster, but her love of dogs and family is what keeps her going. When the attractive, able, and assertive agent approaches her with the request to use their ranch for the operation, she takes some convincing that it will be a good thing and her family will be out of harm’s way.

Both Ryder and Arden are reluctant to trust others, but the attraction has been there between them for a while, even though they didn’t interact very much while he’s been working in town. When the danger ramps up, neither one wants to lose the other before they have a chance to see what can bloom between them.

I give Undercover K-9 Cowboy a four out of five. While this is marked as a romantic suspense, the first half of the book is heavy on the romance building and not so much suspense. But it’s nice to get to know the family dynamics between the Reynolds and how Ryder can fit in with them. Told in multiple POVs, you get a nice insight into the inner workings of Ryder and Arden. Romance sparks, danger comes for them, and in the end, their suspicions result in an arrest of someone that shouldn’t be a danger.

This is a good romantic suspense book. It's book 4 in the series but can be read as stand-alone.
I liked Arden and Ryder and I did like the plot.

This one kept me reading.

UNDERCOVER K-9 COWBOY (Midnight Pass, Texas Book #4) by Addison Fox is the final romantic suspense in the Midnight Pass, Texas books and it was a good conclusion to the series. The youngest Reynolds family member meets the FBI agent and his K-9 companion who may finally be able to break down her wall of emotional self-protection while also ridding the Reynolds ranch of the cartel drug runners using their land.

FBI agent Ryder Durant and his canine companion have been working with the police force in Midnight Pass to stop the cartel’s from using the large tracts of land on the major ranches for drug running. To stop the drug epidemic, he wants to set a trap on Reynolds Station. He learns he must first get the cooperation of Arden Reynolds, who is not impressed with the agent, but he is very impressed with her.

Arden Reynolds has watched her three brothers find true love and now a handsome FBI agent wants to put them in danger with an operation on their land. She trusts the agent’s canine companion more than the agent or any other handsome, cocky man having been hurt in the past, but she wants the ranch to be safe for future Reynold generations.

As the sparks fly the danger is closer than they know.

I enjoyed this conclusion to the series. The romance is a little heavier than the suspense in this story, but I still felt the suspense portion of the plot was tied up nicely. Arden is a very strong female character, and the author does a good job of making her past grief believable and a reasonable excuse for her not moving on. Ryder is her perfect foil as he continually tries to get Arden to open up and let him in. He does not give up. I loved Murphy, Ryder’s K-9 companion and always enjoy a dog addition to a story. Even though this is the fourth and final book in the series, it can be read as a standalone.

An enjoyable romantic suspense read and final book in the Midnight Pass series.

It's hard to resist a cowboy, and when he's smack in the middle of a suspenseful romance - well, that's about as good as it gets for me. Of course, this one is also an enemies to lovers romance with all the sparks and banter, so I was pretty much guaranteed to enjoy this romantic suspense by Addison Fox. The romance touches on instalove, but the whole thing is thoroughly entertaining, and I loved the characters, so I was okay with things moving quickly in the romance department. This is the fourth in the Midnight Pass, Texas series, but it's the first I've read, and if I was missing any key information, I didn't notice, so I'm going to say it is a standalone. I will say that now that I've gotten a taste of this series, I definitely want more, so I'll be checking out those earlier books.

Undercover K9 Cowboy by Addison Fox is a romantic suspense. This was part of a series but still read well as a stand alone. I enjoyed the family dynamic with Ardan and her brothers.

Ryder was an FBI agent with a K9, Murphy. I was a little disappointed that Murphy didn’t have a bigger role in the story. He was super cute though.

Ryder was a very likable character. I felt he put up with Ardan’s baggage very well. She got on my nerves a little with her hot and cold toward Ryder. The story does have a HEA though. Ardan was a yoga instructor and worked on her family's ranch. They were dealing with drug cartel's using their property to delivery product. Good family dynamics.

Sexual content 2- a couple scenes with little detail
Violence - murder, kidnapping, and drug trafficking
Drinking/drugs - there may have been a drink at the restaurant, base of story was drug trafficking but no one did drugs in the story
Language 2 - d@mn used 56 times

When Harlequin offered me this arc, I gladly accepted: hot cowboys and k-9 dogs? That must be awesome! I forgot to check, however, whether this was part of a series. And indeed, it is. It is the fourth book in the Midnight Pass series.

Is it a problem? Well, a little. FBI agent Ryder wants to put an end to the drug tracking in Midnight Pass. Therefore he needs to pose as a ranch hand at the Reynolds ranch. However, the Reynolds family has been through a lot and are therefore not very happy to oblige his request.

All of the stories of the Reynolds different family members are standalone stories. But I do feel I would have enjoyed the story a little more, if I had read the previous parts as well. But still, it is a enjoyable story. with suspense, murder and some very nice sparks flying between Ryder and Arden.

So, would I recommend this story? Definitely, but I would start with The Cowboy’s Deadly Mission and read the whole series.

Three out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

Addison Fox blends tension, action and emotion in her latest romantic suspense novel, Undercover K-9 Cowboy.

FBI agent Ryder Durant is willing to do whatever it takes to stop the drug epidemic ravaging Midnight Pass – even if it means having to reluctantly take matters into his own hands. Ryder is poised to set a trap at Reynolds Station to help him with his quest to stop drugs from getting to Midnight Pass, but he hadn’t counted on Arden Reynolds – who makes her feelings about Ryder clear from the start!

Sparks begin to fly between Arden and Ryder from the second they clap eyes on one another. Arden has got neither the time nor the interest in Ryder and wants him out of sight and off her property as soon as possible. However, Arden cannot deny the fact that she finds herself drawn to Ryder and pretty soon keeping him at arm’s length and resisting his tempting kisses proves absolutely impossible.

Ryder cannot afford distractions of any kind, but the more time he spends with Arden, the more he finds himself falling for her. But with a crime ring lurking far too close to home, Ryder and Arden need to keep their wits about them and work together if they want to put the dangerous criminals who are pursuing them behind bars – and have a future together…

In Undercover K-9 Cowboy, Addison Fox brilliantly balances nail-biting suspense and nerve-twisting tension with emotional intensity and powerful romance. Undercover K-9 Cowboy is a pulse-racing tale of forbidden desire, sizzling attraction and heart-stopping danger with a brilliant heroine, a sexy hero and plenty of drama, action and passion to keep readers turning the pages late into the night.

Good conclusion to the series. Though it is the fourth book, there is enough backstory woven in that it works well as a stand-alone. Ryder is the new senior FBI agent in Midnight Pass, tasked with stopping the drug runners using Midnight Pass ranchlands to move their drugs. He focuses on Reynolds Station, the most likely location of that route. Ryder wants to use their land to set up a trap and needs their agreement. The first person he encounters on his quest is Arden Reynolds.

Arden is the youngest of the Reynolds siblings and the only girl. In addition to helping on the ranch, she owns a yoga studio in town. She learned early how to hold her own against testosterone-driven arguments with three older brothers. After a romantic relationship goes bad, Arden is wary of good-looking, charming men. She also resists giving her heart to anyone/anything, preferring to avoid the chance of heartbreak.

Arden and Ryder met one day when she confronted him about tying his dog up in front of a store while he was inside. The encounter ended amicably, with Arden falling hard for Ryder's dog, Murphy, but wary of Ryder. Neither one can stop thinking about the other.

I loved the family meeting where Ryder presented his case to the Reynolds family. He's honest about his needs and his desire to ensure their safety. I could feel his frustration when they refused to let him do his thing without their involvement simply. There is a lot of interesting back-and-forth negotiation over the next few days before both sides are satisfied. I especially enjoyed the time that Arden and Ryder spent together. Though Arden tries to keep him at arm's length, Ryder finds himself unexpectedly drawn to her. Though he tries to talk himself out of it, he quickly realizes that he is falling for her. There are a few clashes as Arden doesn't always appreciate his insight into what makes her tick. She also can't deny that he makes her feel safe amid the danger that stalks the ranch. But it takes nearly losing her life for Arden to let go of the past and embrace a future with Ryder.

The suspense was good though it started slowly. Ryder has his plans for a trap to catch the smugglers, but it takes a backseat when a ranch hand is murdered. A disturbing encounter while Ryder and Arden are on a date gives him the feeling that something is off. That feeling intensifies when a friend of Arden's expresses concerns about her current boyfriend, and Arden shares them with Ryder. I liked seeing Ryder team up with his predecessor to determine the truth. I was on the edge of my seat as the bad guy kidnapped Arden. Her calmness in the face of danger was fantastic, and I loved seeing her fight back. I could feel Ryder's fear when he realized she was missing and his determination to find her. The final confrontation was a nail-biter, with rescue coming from an unexpected source. My only disappointment was that there were a couple of threads left hanging. Perhaps there will be a second series dealing with those.

I loved the family dynamics with the Reynolds clan. The men are the rough and tough rancher stock, with one having also been in Special Forces. They are protective of their ladies and their land. Their wives have all been through traumatic events before finding their happy endings. Those events gave them all a core of strength that comes in handy when dealing with the current trouble. I also enjoyed seeing them side with Arden and work to get their men to see that action now will make the future safer. The epilogue was great.

Addison Fox was a new-to-me author when I picked this book up. I enjoy giving new authors a chance because I’ve found some truly favored ones by doing so. This book is the fourth in a series, but as I’ve not read any previous stories, I had no issues following the plot. There were some extraneous characters, but I felt the author did a good job straddling the line between a good backstory explanation and an information dump. With that said, I read a lot of romantic suspense books and this one was hard for me to stay engaged in for about the first half of the book because it was more romance than suspense. If you prefer your romantic suspense heavier on the romance, you’re going to enjoy the story more than I did. However, it was genuinely entertaining, and the second half of it picked up enough to call it a page-turner at that point.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the fourth book in the Midnight Pass, Texas series. I have read the third book in this book series before picking this book up. The characters in this book was good, and I enjoyed the characters. My biggest problem with this book is that there was so much romance, and there was no suspense for the first 50% of the book. I want more suspense and action in my romantic suspense books. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Romantic Suspense) or author (Addison Fox) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Equal parts romance, equal parts suspense, this story flowed well from beginning to end. The bottom line is that FBI Agent Ryder Durant was determined to put an end to the drug epidemic that was swallowing up the town of Midnight Pass. As he worked towards his objective, Ryder began guarding Arden Reynolds. Their attraction was palpable from the very beginning, all while the seriousness regarding their now common goal pushed forward. Factor in Ryder's K-9 partner Murphy, and this story definitely hit the mark.

Although I am a series fanatic, I did not have the opportunity to read the first three books in this series. However, this book did perfectly well as a standalone novel as Ryder and Arden's story developed. Both Ryder and Arden were strong characters, and they handled the conflicts and danger in this story with aplomb. Whether it was their shared attraction or the twists and turns that kepting me tapping my Kindle screen, this book was an excellent read.

Many thanks to Harlequin Romantic Suspense and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

FBI Agent Ryder Durant and his K-9 are trying to trying to find the people behind a drug smuggling ring and it looks like Arden and her family live near that route which puts them in danger. After Arden finds a body its clear more then ever she's not safe and he'll do everything he can to keep her safe and find the person behind this especially since he seems to be having growing feelings towards her.

This was a pretty fast paced read. I kinda thought there would be more action in this but there wasn't it was more of a suspense novel which is just as good once I switched my mindset of what I expected it to be. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and hoped for the best for the two I was really rooting for them to get together. I loved reading as the book gone on and seeing the villain of the story's point of view on his plans and how he was able to get as far as he's been going. Overall pretty great book I really enjoyed it.

Undercover k-9 cowboy by Addison Fox.
Midnight Pass, Texas, Book 4.
To stop the drug epidemic ravaging his town, FBI agent Ryder Durant reluctantly takes matters into his own hands. Poised to set a trap, he has to contend with Arden Reynolds—who prefers Ryder's K-9 to the agent protecting her family. As Ryder and Arden spar, embers spring into flame. And those flames are as dangerous as the crime ring lurks too close to home…
I did enjoy this book. I did like Ryder. Great story. 4*.

I'm a fan of anything featuring K-9 and had high expectations for this one even if I never read anything in this series.
It's a pleasant and entertaining read but it's more romance than suspense and, even if I rooted for the characters, I was expecting more action and suspense
It's an entertaining and well written story, the characters are fleshed out.
Recommended.
Many thanks to Harlequin Romantic Suspense and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

It's been a while since I read a Harlequin Romantic Suspense book. Undercover K-9 Cowboy was a great one to re-introduce me to the line. It reeled me in quickly and held my attention right up to the breath-stealing conclusion.

Fox skillfully blends romance, action, and suspense in this fourth book of her family-centric, Midnight Pass, Texas series. I was totally on board with the push and pull of the attraction and conflict between youngest Reynolds sibling, Arden and new FBI agent in town, Ryder. I loved how they challenged each other, how they opened one another to new viewpoints, unexpected feelings, and, in Arden's case, potential healing from emotional trauma that had directed her life choices. They are such a great match though it does take them a while to realize that. Of course, I fell head over heels for Ryder's K-9 partner, Murphy, his love for Arden, and his heroics. He's as much a hero as Ryder.

The suspense portion of the book builds in intensity, with twists, turns, and a few surprises, until its climactic, edge-of-your-seat conclusion. It also brings the entire Reynolds family into the fray, including the three couples who were the focus of books one - three. Even though I haven't read those stories yet, I never felt confused or "out of the loop" while reading Undercover K-9 Cowboy. Instead, I found myself as intrigued by Arden's brothers and their wives as I was with Ryder and Arden. I've downloaded the earlier books and will be reading them soon.

I don't know if Fox has plans to return to Midnight Pass but I really hope she does. There are some secondary characters begging for a story, drug runners who have yet to be brought to justice, and I'd be more than happy to check in with everyone at the Reynolds family ranch.

If you enjoy emotional romance, action-packed suspense, ranch settings, and close, meddling families, give this one a try. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

4.5 Stars
