I was looking for a Rom-Com type quick read and As Seen on TV was exactly what I was looking for!

Set between downtown Manhattan and a small town Pleasant Hollow, Adina dreams of breaking out in writing and from her current life. Adina finally lands an approval to follow her heart to a small cozy town in hopes of finding everything she's watched in Hallmark movies. When things don't quite go to plan Adina has to decide how far she's willing to go to get her dream career and her dream love story.

My main take away from this book is that love takes work. Aside from her complete naivety toward small towns and small town life, Adina also learns that often times love that is worth it takes work. Adi's character comes off a sheltered and naive, even while living in busy and bustling metropolis area. She has grown up idealizing the marriage of her parents and believing that perfection is the only acceptable relationship. What Adina learns and what we all can learn is that in love there is acceptance and necessary effort which count toward happy relationships.

The question I ask myself is, would I read this book again? Yes. Make it a movie? Absolutely!

Everything about this book made it the perfect read for me. The Hallmark references and thinking small town life would be like a Hallmark movie was laugh out loud perfection. I

There was a great combination of funny, love, serious and the backgrounds of both characters were well represented.

I can't wait until this book releases and I can purchase it!

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the opportunity to read and review the ARC of As Seen on TV. The premise intrigued me and seemed unique and cute. As a reformed hallmark enthusiast who calls a small-ish town home, I was interested in where this story would go.

The writing is strong and it’s clear that Meredith is a talented story teller. The plot points were well connected and I didn’t feel like there was much unnecessary detail in the story. A strong sense of time and place were set by the details. I enjoyed the banter dialogue between Finn and Adina. Most of the dialogue was sharp and snarky which I enjoy.

My main issue with this book is that I couldn’t connect to Adina as a character at all. I didn’t understand her motivators and I found her immaturity so grating. The author did a good job setting up the motivations but they didn’t resonate with me and I found them hollow. While some of her motives were altruistic everything seemed colored with an ounce of self-benefit. The main conflict was agonizing to read. I didn’t connect at all with how deep her emotions ran after such a short time in the relationship, literally a day. The exploration of Pleasant Hollow and the article hook was painful for me. It was obvious she’d cut corners and reacted emotionally without any research at all. I felt so much second-hand embarrassment. I wasn’t rooting for her and I thought her editors feedback was glossed over too quickly.

The romance with Finn while confusing at times was sweet and interesting in the beginning. I also loved Adina’s support system of her mom and Kate. They were some of the best developed characters as supporting roles.

There are some bright spots in this book, even if it didn’t all land for me. If you’re looking for a different take on small town romance this might just be for you.

Thank you Netgalley for this advanced copy of this novel in exchange for my honest opinion.

As Seen on TV by Meredith Schorr is about a journalist who leaves New York City and goes to a small town in upstate New York to live out a Hallmark movie fantasy. She wants to attend local events, do a story about a big bad developer who is taking over the town, and meet a local guy and fall in love. A whole different reality finds her in Pleasant Hollow.

As an avid Hallmark movie watcher, this novel wasn't what I expected. I was expecting it to be a little more like a Hallmark movie, but with a twist. What really happened was there were some larger themes that brought it to another level. It took a bit for me to get into this novel, almost to the mid-point, but then once I got into it, I was into it. I loved Adina's meet-cute with Finn, I really enjoyed her relationship with her Mom and her best friend Kate. What I really liked was that her relationship with Finn was realistic. They had ups and downs like a normal couple, they had external issues they had work through. Some of the book seemed a bit forced, but for the most part it was good. I liked how the author tackled alcoholism with a parent and how it affects relationships, but I wish that was explored more.

Cute and quick romance that can be read in one day. Ideal for fans of the Rom Com genre. I however struggled to connect with our characters. This one wasn’t for me although I liked the idea of it and the super cute cover.

Adina has lived in NYC for most of her life, but she idealizes the small-town life. She loves cheesy Hallmark movies and shows like Gilmore Girls. After struggling to find her spark in her writing and getting stood up once again on a date, she gets an idea to compare a real-life small town to a Hallmark movie after learning about a new condo development being built in Pleasant Hollow, NY. She soon learns that small towns aren’t exactly the way they’re portrayed in movies and that maybe all city men aren’t horrible.

This book was so enjoyable. As someone from a small town, I was glad Adina learned that her romanticized version of small towns wasn’t completely accurate. I often found myself rolling my eyes at her idea of what Pleasant Hollow would be like. I’m glad she was able to find parts of the town that were lovable since there are some upsides to small towns. The romance in this book was cute and steamy. I really liked the way the story wrapped up and that Adina was able to resolve the issues she was facing in her life while also finding love. I recommend this for any romance or Hallmark movie lover.

This book is great as a beach read or as a curl up on a cold day with a hot drink read! It was fun and cute. I loved Adi’s personality and how she stood up for herself frequently. Her relationship with her mother and her best friend were great and I enjoyed seeing them play out. Loved the spice and the grand gesture by the romantic interest!

This was a fun spin on traditional hallmark books/movies. I wasn’t totally invested in the story and characters, but it kept me entertained!

As Seen on TV by Meredith Schorr is an excellent contemporary rom/com that is just picture perfect in every way.

This is such an amazing book! I can rave about so many different aspects: the plot, the pacing, the wit, the humor, the banter, the sarcasm, the creativity, the complexity of the characters making them fallible, likable, realistic, endearing, and entertaining, the chemistry between the two main characters…I could go on and on.

Adina and Finn are just perfect! I loved the way they met, the miscommunications, obstacles, connection, progression, and of course their wonderful ending.

I also love the concept that Adina thinks she has it all figured out…find what she thinks she needs in a “small town” and all her adult problems will go away…her awakening and realization that life isn’t what it seems on TV and that she has some growing up and contemplating to do….it just makes for a great book. Finn pops in to help add to this concept, and both seem to grow and match each other so well.

An age old concept with a new spin and a fresh impression makes for a wonderful read.

I absolutely adored this book!! What’s not to love about the thought of a small town like Stars Hollow actually existing? I felt like I was right there along Adi’s side as she explored the small town hoping to find a happy festive community and was bummed when she didn’t find it.
I loved her match with Finn and was rooting for them the whole time.
This book made me smile and “awww” throughout; I will definitely be recommending this book to all my girlfriends!
