I was a complete puddle of mush after I finished reading this book. The canyon does produce a fine breed of scrumptious sexy cowboys! Zack is the stern stalwart sheriff who is very suspicious of klutzy Janie. They spend the remainder of the book dancing around each other, exploring new family secrets, long lost family, and coming to terms with each other. I know I gush about every new fictional cowboy I read about, but Zack is just extra yummy. He calms Janie baby and I had to wipe the drool away.
This is the definitely a HEA, galore. It lingers.
I really enjoyed this book, just the right balance of light-heartedness and depth to make it flow. I'm fast becoming a big fan of this author, with the consistent quality of writing.
Cold River sheriff Zach Kittredge believes there is something off about his new neighbor,Janie Atwood. Janie is a nurse hired to take care of Damaris, an elderly lady living next door to Zach. Janie does have a reason for coming to Cold River, but she is in no rush to share them with Zach, making his suspiciousness grow. Or is the suspiciousness a front to hide his attraction to the new resident ?
I found Summer nights with the cowboy a sweet and cute romance. Janie was perfect for Zach , adding a burst of colour, making him look at things from a different perspective compared to uptight, either black or white view.
This is my first book in the series and I struggled at the start - it was a little slow for my liking but it picked up as the story progressed and made it more enjoyable.
This was another great addition to the Kittredge family saga. I'm disappointed that it's the last one since Zack was. the las sibling not with anyone. Janie is a great addition to this cast of characters. She underestimates herself & her value & it's up to Zack to show her without getting tangled up in her. Janie is also in Cold River with the intent to find out who her father is & she doesn't want anyone to know, especially when she finds out she might be related to the notorious Hall family. I highly recommend reading this book, especially if you've read the other novels in this series (& if you haven't, please do. You won't be disappointed.).
Thank you to the publisher & NetGalley for advanced copy in exchange for my honest review
A little winded. The story and the details are good.very thorough and well described. It's very well portrayed.
A good enough story, but I struggled with the writing style, otherwise a good read.
Summer Nights with a Cowboy is an amazing read. I love this one so much. It was a fun read that will take your heart and give you those little feels you are looking for. Janie is a little awkward at times, that just makes her, her. She is a traveling nurse looking for answers to finding her relatives. You feel for Janie as you get to know her. Then you have the grumpy sheriff when it comes to Zack. He puts up a good fight as he keeps on eye on Janie while taking care of his neighbor. I love the slow build of chemistry between Zack and Janie. This is such a sweet story that will have you falling right beside Zach and Janie. You get to know Zack on a whole new level as he comes to terms of what he saw when he was younger. I love the changes in Zack and how Janie's long-lost family embraces her fully into the family. My heart was so happy by the time I finished this one. Go one click this one today.
A great love and love story about family, trust, secrets and facing the truth. Sheriff Zach’s life is been built tight an de he doesn’t let anyone near his heart. Janie has come to Cold river looking for part of her family she doesn’t know. She is sunshine and happiness, he is serious and severe. Can they find common ground and work together toward love and happiness?
Again, Caitlin Crews won me with a sexy yet emotional story for the last remaining single brother, Zack Kittredge.
I'm apologising in advance - Janie is cute as hell, but my focus is mainly on Zack as I've been anticipating his book for a looooong time. He's so uptight and suspicious about Janie's motives, but when he turns on the charm and sexy in the next second, Janie's not the only one swooning.
Anyway, can I just say (without spoilers) that the reveal re: Ellie and Donovan is just mindblown emoji? Tears have been shed. I'm glad that Zack finally got his closure.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE @ CAITLIN: MORTIMER SISTERS SPIN-OFF STAT.
If you like a novel with funny moments, you will like this one. Janie is very clumsy in her personal life which brings a lot of awkward situations, mainly in presence of the sheriff, Zack Kittredge. Zack is grumpy as ever and his instincts are telling him that Janie is hiding something, which she is. She came to work in Cold River to see if she has any relatives there, according to a letter her grandparents left her when they pass.
As Janie and Zack live close by, her being a nurse to one of his neighbour, they start meeting more often and become involved. In case you are wondering, the sex scenes are not very detailed.
If you have read this series, you will be happy to know that this novel also reveals what happened between the Kittredge’s parents who went from fighting all the time to nothing overnight, as mentioned in the previous books of this series. The other family members and their partners are also present here and there, and we see where they are at in their lives.
Note : I would love to know a bit more about the Mortimer sisters. They have been in this series and the Cold River Ranch series, and they are very interesting characters. Hopefully, they will get their series one day.
Thank you to the publisher, St. Martin’s Press, and NetGalley, for an Advanced Reader copy.
I finished this a couple of days ago and I'm still trying to digest it. If you like a book that will surprise you, this may be for you. The ending didn't sit well with many people, but then I think you have to sometimes give extra points for that ending that makes you sit back and think about it.
Mia is a married woman struggling with infertility. That's one part of the story. The other part is that there is a man she has been dreaming about (actual nighttime dreams) for years. Then she meets him one day. Turns out he's been having dreams with her in them too. They go on sort of a journey of discovery to try to figure out what it all means. There's also the impact this has on her marriage. THEN THE ENDING!!!
I listened to the audio version with a dual narration by Sophie Amoss and Dan Bittner.
A couple of warnings. There are fertility issues and domestic violence in this book.
Janie is a single, traveling nurse who accepts a position in a town where she believes will yield some family ancestry. Her mom died in childbirth and she was raised by her grandparents, never knowing about her father.
Zack is the oldest son in one of the founding families for the town. He left the family ranch at 18, after a disagreement with his father, to pursue a career in law enforcement.
They meet in a local coffee shop after an unfortunate incident. Zack has a feeling that something is up with Janie and she's on town for nefarious reasons. She's a nurse/caretaker for his elderly neighbor so they see each other often. She finds him standoffish and a bit rude, but there's underlying feelings.
Zack's brother feels it's attraction that has Zack off-kilter in regards to Janie. Time shows that might be closer to the truth than anyone imagined.
Janie is an open book and shares her outlook on situations as they happen. Zack experiences angst and disappointment whenever he visits the ranch, mostly for Sunday dinner. As a guest Janie gets a bird's eye view and provides her opinions that all may not be as it seems.
This was before far my favorite in the series. The characters are portrayed realistically and all is not as it seems. The story was hard to put down and the truths revealed tied up the whole series. Definitely a 5 star read as Janie and Zack support each other in uncovering family secrets.
I received a Free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinions.
"Summer Nights With a Cowboy" by Caitlin Crews
Caitlin really knows how to tell a story.
I loved the two lead characters. And, I loved the story from beginning to end. Well, I am not a fan of detailed 'steam' but I muddled through or skipped those parts because the story was worth the added effort. A really good story highlighting that what we believe is fact just may not have a basis in reality .. and .. what we hope and dream may or may not be as we hoped. People in the real world do not always do the expected and that is also true in the world of fiction.
NOTE: I received an ARC of this story from the publisher.
This review expresses my honest opinions.
What a wonderful, glorious, and super swoony end to Kittredge Ranch. The author managed to deliver a knockout in each of the three books. I absolutely loved this whole series, this family, these siblings, and the women they welcome into their lives.
It's no secret I love a brooding, grumpy hero, especially when my favorite cowboys in Cold River are Gray (Cold River Ranch-book one,) Riley, and now Zack. Zack was suspicious, overbearing, and too serious in the first two books, but he becomes a fully redeemed romantic hero in this one. Janie manages to pique his suspiciousness enough to catch his attention, but then it becomes something else. I was gripped from the first chapter and enjoyed the instant tension between Zack and Janie while it all built up to their first kiss and so on. The unfolding of their relationship was rather dreamy and I was right there feeling all of it.
As for Janie herself, it took me until nearly the end of the book to realize why I connected so well with her. I am Janie. Older orphan, finding her paternal family as an adult, her clumsiness. Even when tripping over her own feet, nearly face-planting while missile-launching a coffee drink in front of a crowded room. I've done that!! And my son has never let me forget it. I also do the incessant talking thing when nervous. Janie has her cooler moments, though, and she is wonderful with Zack. I liked her calm characterization under pressure and the handling of her patients and family. She helps Zack see his world a little differently.
Summer Nights also had another fabulous epilogue, executed similar to Jensen's in the previous book. I loved reading the quick and sweet synopsis of Zack and Janie's future. While I'm heartbroken this series is over, I have a feeling we're still not done with Cold River. The Mortimer Sisters, anyone?
Wow. I loved this story so much. It had so much going on with a few twists here and there. I was sucked in from page one. It had a very lovely ending. I wished there was more of an epilogue to include some more details. But the base info was there. This is one of those books that brings a smile on your face during the entire book. And leaves you with a smile. Their chemistry was sweet, a little spicy, and fun. The writing had a nice flow, no part was overly rushed or dragged on. I really enjoyed this book. Can’t wait to read more from this author.
I totally loved Janie and Zack’s story in Summer Nights with a Cowboy by Caitlin Crews, book three in her Kittredge Ranch series, a story full of passion, sizzling tension, secrets and even a little suspense, surrounding the their families and Cold River history. I could not put down this story of a stern, grumpy sheriff and the new nurse in town who thinks he’s ridiculously hot, but tells him he needs to go to charm school to deal with his gruff attitude. And then actually goes through with it, tea parties and ballroom dancing and all. Cold River sheriff Zach Kittredge believes there is something not right about the town's newest resident, traveling hospice nurse Janie Atwood. Allegedly, Janie has moved in next door to Zach to act as a home health nurse for his aging neighbor, but he’s not buying that story; it’s a gut feeling despite evidence to the contrary. Janie does have hidden motives for moving to the small town of Cold River, but she is not ready to share those reasons with the sheriff. She is having too much fun being a woman of mystery to the sexy lawman. The truth is that Janie has come to this sleepy Colorado town in to learn more about her family roots. She believes she is a direct descendent of the town's founding mother, bordello owner Madam Minerva, and all her research into the matter only makes Zach more suspicious. The Kittredge family has its own closet filled with numerous skeletons, which Zach needed to unlock and examine before judging Janie.
Zach and Janie share a connection, completing each other, filling that missing piece neither knew they were missing. They share a magnetic attraction, off-the-charts, sizzling chemistry, while occasionally acting irrationally at time, and doing stupid things. They both need to learn to sit still and listen and learn instead of jumping in with both feet before knowing all the facts. And they both, definitely, need to learn to speak up instead of shutting down. They have some major soul searching to do before they will be able to be happy, before they can be together, and it makes they find true love.
Ms. Crew really knows how to write about passion, intensity, strong emotions and smexy tension and steam in this a wonderfully emotional story of opposites that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sizzling chemistry, supportive family and friends, and charming characters as Zach and Janie find themselves in love, ready for a future together. I highly recommend Summer Nights with a Cowboy to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Summer Nights with a Cowboy (Kittredge Ranch, #3) by Caitlin Crews
Janie Atwood Traveling nurse takes a job in Cold River in search of family secrets. Sheriff Zack Kittredge thinks something is off with Janie but doesn't know what it is. She becomes the caretaker of his elderly neighbor. There is family intrigue, angst, laughter, tears, secrets, interesting sub characters, and plenty of steam to get us to a very HEA.
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Steamy Happily Ever After Entertaining Page-turner Romantic Wonderful characters Tear-jerker Funny Easy-to-read Unpredictable
What a wonderful story! Sheriff Zach had lost his belief in love at 18, and Janie was just trying to find some family after the deaths of her grandparents. Janie had always been friend-zoned, so the chemistry with the sheriff took them both by surprise. A redemption story with lots of heart.
Very nice story and flirty fun. Good book to make you forget about the weather outside. Just what I needed in the cold January day!
This was a nice end to the Kittredge Ranch series. Was it my favorite? No. But it was still enjoyable and a good finale to the series.
The one thing that keeps me from giving this 4 stars is Zack. He honestly wasn't that likable of a person for most of the book. He was judgmental and everything was either black or white with him. And once he set his mind on something, he stuck with those long-held beliefs. It took a clumsy red head for him to start seeing the world around him differently. But even then, we spend most of the book frustrated with his lack of give regarding his family and with his biases of those in his community (he was suspicious of Janie and her motives for a lot of the beginning chapters). The only thing he had going for him was he was hot and he was kind to Damaris, the elderly neighbor who Janie cared for.
Janie is a clumsy redhead new to town and in search of her biological family, or what she hopes is her family roots. She was raised by her grandparents after her mom died during childbirth, but her grandparents left her a letter after their death with clues to who her dad's family may be. She's an elder care nurse, so she decides to take on a client in Cold River, where her dad's family is supposedly from and while there, investigate her roots and lay down some while she's there.
Janie meets Zack in the diner in a 'meet cute' moment I guess, if you call spilling your coffee on the man cute. It was quite comical, that's for sure. After a while though, her tripping all the time became old. I get it, I am pretty clumsy myself, but after a while, shouldn't she just pay attention to where she's going? Then there's the constant blushing. Every.single.chapter. we have to hear about her blushing and turning beet red, or as the author liked to keep repeating, borscht (learned a new word though). I was about to turn into a Madea meme - "say "..." one more time." I did like Janie as a person though. She was kind, gentle, patient and non-judgmental.
I did enjoy seeing Zack loosen up and actually listen to Janie when she offered him some perspective on his family and life in general. Again, he was stubborn and it was quite painful at times watching him treat Janie in that dismissive way. But for the most part, once he got over his suspicions of her, he was quite receptive to her advice. And he played along with the charm school thing, even though it was a weird addition to the plot on the author's part.
Zack and Janie were hot together, so I'll give the author that for writing great chemistry between the two. I wouldn't have pictured someone like Janie loosening the unmovable Sheriff up, but she somehow did with her down-t0-earth honest charm. And I had to admire Janie for sticking with the Sheriff even when he didn't deserve her compassion and loyalty.
It was nice for the author to wrap up the Kittredge family drama and give us some answers into why the family dynamic was how it was. I also liked that we got to see the previous Kittredge & Everett couples make an appearance many times and provide us with an update to their story.
I'll miss this group of characters, but I'm sure the author has more for us...maybe (like the Halls)?
What a fun story! The cowboy sheriff is hot hot hot and gives the book plenty of sizzle. The characters in the book are fun and interesting. Damaris is a delightful senior citizen that uses a home nurse for companionship. She conveniently lives next door to the sheriff. Her new nurse, Janie Atwood, is adorable and catches his eye. Janie is looking for her birth father so she has accepted working for Damaris to be in the area she thinks her father is from. I like the side relationships in Zack's family. A good story that made me smile.
