Starry-Eyed Love by Helena Hunting is the perfect choice for your next sweet romance read. This is Spark House #2 and I enjoyed it every bit as much as London’s older sister’s story in book 1 and now looking forward to book 3 for the youngest sister’s story! London and Jackson are meant to be. I love how he takes a step back so not to mix business with personal life, but man what a slow burn. I couldn’t wait till they could get together officially, and boy did the ‘sparks’ fly! Very charming and easy to jump into and finish on a long weekend in front of the fire!
This was an adorably charming read. I loved London and Jackson’s relationship from the very beginning. Helena Hunting is always a go-to author for me and this was sweet.
The dynamic between London and her sisters gave the book a homey feel. Who doesn’t argue with their sisters, especially when the run a business together.
And even the troubles that Jackson and London dealt with weren’t unbelievable, even if Jackson was a billionaire.
London runs Spark House with her sisters. They have been looking to expand their business by looking for sponsorship with companies who have the same agenda as them. When Holt Media reaches out with an opportunity, London has to prepare to meet with them. Little does she know that this company is owned by the same man who asked her out 3 months earlier.
Jackson Holt has no idea who London is until he’s walking past the room she’s presenting in. Of course he can’t help himself by sitting in on the presentation that he’s not really needed for. This begins the complicated relationship because they’re both attracted to each other, but he’s now kinda her boss. They face lots of problems head on, and then some that should have been handled better by both of them. Overall I love these two. London is very relatable, and Jackson is a great guy.
We see a lot of Harley and Avery in this book. Avery is planning her wedding to Declan and still unwilling to give up control. I can’t wait til book 3 to see what’s in store for Harley!!
Synopsis:
Having just broken up with her boyfriend, London Spark is not in the mood to be hit on. Especially not when she’s out celebrating her single status with her sisters. So when a very attractive man pays for their drinks and then slips her his number, she passes it right back to him with a ‘thanks, but no thanks’. As the business administrator for their family’s event hotel, the Spark House, London has more important things to worry about, like bringing in new clientele.
As luck would have it, a multi-million-dollar company calls a few months later asking for a meeting to discuss a potential partnership, and London is eager to prove to her sisters, and herself, that she can land this deal. Just when she thinks she has nailed her presentation, the company’s CEO, Jackson Holt, walks in and inserts himself into the meeting. Not only that, but he also happens to be the same guy she turned down at the bar a few months ago.
As they begin to spend more time together, their working relationship blossoms into something more. It isn’t until their professional entanglements are finally over, that London and Jackson are finally ready to take the next step in their relationship. But between Jackson’s secretive past and London’s struggle with her sisters, London must question where she really stands - not just with Jackson, but with the Spark House, too.
Review::
I love these characters and these sisters are goals for how to be there for your family. London is having a hard time, but when Jackson comes into her life everything begins to change for her. Work is getting crazy and she's got too many feelings for the guy who's responsible for her family business' success.
I felt like Jackson was a little bit one-dimensional and I had a hard time understand and get on his side a bit. The sisters are really the winners of this book. Both their relationships as sisters and business partners. Seeing London learn her worth is the main reason to read this story. The romance is cute but the personal growth was even better for me.
Starry-Eyed Love by Helena Hunting is another winner by one of my favorite romcom authors. London and Jackson are absolutely charming together, and their banter had me smiling throughout the entire book. Highly recommend!
This is my favorite of the series so far. It's a slow burn friends to lovers and worth it.
Helena knocked this one out of the park, you get all the feels with Jackson and London. There wasn't any dumb drama and things in the story were handled like adults should. It did drag on a bit towards the middle you waiting on the characters to finally be together but when they did there was no slowing down. Overall really enjoyed the story and the second reread.
Starry-Eyed Love is London’s story! We first met London in her sister Avery’s book, When Sparks Fly! You do not have to read that book to enjoy this one because Londons story is all her own!
London and Jackson have a totally awkward meet cute and when fate brings them together again Jackson take the opportunity to get to know the woman who brushed him off! What starts as a business venture quickly turns to more but Jackson’s past might ruin his future before they even really have a chance!!
I was completely taken by how mature this book way! Not in the spicy bedroom sense (but those scenes are definitely hotter than hot), but in how these two tackled life! London and Jackson did really well navigating their work relationship and even when problems occurred it wasn’t a super dramatic scene but so realistic you felt every ounce of emotion they were experiencing!
I loved Londons quirky nature and how she loves to be crafty and repurpose! She is truly an amazing character. Her strength and selflessness just inspires you! Jackson is such a perfect match for her. Both having experienced loss and going after their dreams really bonded them! Jackson though really helped London to be her and I could continue to gush about these two but I’m on the border of spoiling too much and I don’t want too because this book is definitely a beautiful read.
5+ Stars!
I haven’t read a Helena Hunting book for ages so I’d forgotten how wonderful her books were. The characters just came to life in my head and parked themselves there. The plot was just fantastic and gave me all the feels. I couldn’t put it down until I finished and that resulted in tears at 3 am. I was laughing one minute and crying the next. I love when a book makes all my emotions riot.
London Spark and her two sisters, Harley and Avery, own a beautiful boutique hotel that hosts spectacular events and seem to be running themselves into the ground as Avery is determined to keep it as a ‘family’ business; therefore no one but family can be hired to do management jobs. It’s so exciting to read the details of this hotel and how involved it is. It’s also easy to see they need help.
Jackson is a hot billionaire whose company wants to promote their hotel. London and Jackson have instant sparks. It’s so obvious they are in deep even when they both struggle to admit it. Lots of factors interfere with their path to happiness and this caused me tears and smiles.
I adored this book from the first to the last sentence. I really wanted to immerse myself in the world of the Spark sisters. The writing is superb and makes reading a complete pleasure and compulsion.
Hmm… okay… I love Spark sisters! I already loved London from the first book of the series! That hard working, tough, caring woman absolutely deserved her own book. And her love interest Jackson Hoyt, charming CEO, strictly professional business man who rejects office romance is also extremely likable hero earned several brownie points!
London meets Jackson at a bar. Sparks start flying between them but London rejects dating with him because she already carries too much on her plate, focusing on her business life and a few months later she meets the same charming guy as a potential partner who has his own multi billion dollar company.
Well, they eventually start working together. But nearly first third of the book we witness their business transactions and stuck with extra corporate terms more than romantic dialogues and sweet banters we get used to read at several romcoms. Are those guys too strict to talk about lighter subjects? Yeap, it seems like it.
After you pass the first third, their relationship blooms a little but still slowly. So you get to be patient!
Normally I give three stars to this book because of extra business jargon that truly exhausted and extra slow pacing of romance also disappointed me. But I loved both of the characters and I loved the way how they handle their own baggages from their pasts. So I gave extra half star to round up 3.5 to 4 sparking, love at workspace, slow burn stars!
I didn’t love this book as much as the first one but it was still fun to return back to Spark sisters’ universe! Looking forward to read the sequel!
Special thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Griffin for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.
I read the first book in this series, When Sparks Fly, and I adored it! So when I saw book #2, I was so excited to get my hands on an early copy! Of course, this book did not disappoint! I loved jumping back into the Sparks sisters life. And boy oh boy, London and Jackson brought the heat and spark. The storyline was interesting, kept you turning the pages, and the book left you with a smile on your face!! Avery did annoy me a little bit in this book being so bossy and business oriented. I’m sure there will be a book #3 featuring Harley and I’m already looking forward it! Even though this is a part of a series, this book could be read as a stand alone.
Thank you Net Galley and St. Martins press for an ARC in return for my honest review.
Helena Hunting never disappoints. Another book of hers that I just couldn't put down. London and Jackson's story was one of fairytales and I can't wait to read more in this series.
London is the second of the three Spark sisters to become the protagonist in a love story. London and her sisters are out having some fun when London is approached by a guy who asks her on a date. Having recently ended a relationship, she turns him down. A little while later, she goes to present on Spark House, the event hotel she helps to run with her sisters and is shocked to learn that the CEO of Holt Media, where she is presenting, is the same man… now totally cleaned up and still as handsome as when he asked her out. When it’s her turn to ask him out, he turns her down. He seems interested though, so what is going on?
Helena Hunting wrote a fantastic romance story with London, while weaving in the challenges of running a rapidly growing business with just the three sisters managing things. Avery refuses to let them hire anyone else, and this is causing a lot of stress for the three girls. I remain in love with these sisters. They each have their own loveable, fun personalities and it’s great fun to watch them fall in love when it’s their turn. The heartbreak they experience is not as hard to watch as you know there will be some kind of a happy ending. I was not disappointed by book two in this trilogy and I look forward to the third installment when it comes out. Hopefully, not too far in the future!
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Griffin publisher for the ARC of this book to read in exchange for an honest review.
This was a sweet sequel to the first Spark House book. I love the charming hotel and Colorado setting. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. London who works with her sisters is enjoying being single when her company gets a new client. She is teamed up with Jackson who she met at s bar recently. The last thing that London is interested in is another relationship. I enjoyed this book
I really enjoyed this book by Helena Hunting. It was very well done and I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
Starry-Eyed Love by H. Hunting, published by St. Martin's Press, is a romantic comedy, a stand-alone.
London Spark is the middle sister and together with the other two she owns/manages a family hotel and venue.
Jackson Holt is a selfmade, successful business man who helps promote other businesses. He takes Sparks Hotel under his wings and is more than smitten with London. But his rule is never mix business and private relationships.
SEL is a slow burn, low on drama story with a beautiful flow. Reading this book was like coming home, sitting on the couch and snuggling under a blanket. This author delievered an outstanding book and I recommend it, 5 stars.
Starry Eyed Love takes place in the Spark House world and is book 2 in the series. Though it is a stand alone, if you haven't read When Sparks Fly, I highly recommend you read that first.
This is the story of London and and Jackson as they both learn to open themselves up to love. Both have managed to stay detached in their personal lives and highly involved in their work, but after meeting twice, they cannot deny their spark, no matter how hard they try to at first. I could not put this book down and loved every second of it. I highly recommend it!
I really enjoyed it, the blurb was really intriguing and made me want to read it.
Jackson Came over as a very confident Alpha, but upon further inspection it wasn't really that case.
Avery wasn't my favorite character in this book, she actually came over as a very selfish woman who took her sisters for granted. But with some explanation toward the end I get where it came from.
What I found a bit irritating was the fight near the end, because I didn't felt like London had a hard point. But when explained I could see where she was coming from, but I didn't feel like that.
The Spark sisters are back:) Starry-Eyed love is London’s story and it is sweet & written in the stars;)
London & Jackson meet but chance at a local bar shortly after her latest breakup but it wasn’t their time. A few months later though is another story❤️ Jackson sees London -by chance- at a presentation for his company and he is determined to get the girl this time💕
There are a few hiccups along the way but London & Jackson manage to maintain their businesses, some cool friendships and a long distance relationship🙂
Fave scene:
“You haven’t made me uncomfortable.” “Good. That’s very good.” His tongue drags across his bottom lip. “I just needed to tell you that from across the room, you were beyond stunning, but up close.” He lets out a low whistle. “You are an absolute work of art.” I fight with my eyebrows not to rise. This guy has all the lines. “Oh, really?” I lace my fingers together and set my chin on them. “The kind of art you might hang in your living room?” “Bedroom, actually.”—-ahh smooth💕
I loved this book, even more than the first! Largely for Jackson, the handsome and charming and caring and intelligent Jackson!
I loved the funny and intense first meeting, with Jackson who only has eyes for London, and London who refuses his invitation. Starting a story with a refusal, what a great idea!
I loved the second meeting with Jackson still so intense and London embarrassed but who manages to keep a cool head when it comes to work.
I loved that she invited him back and Jackson's response.
I loved that despite the tensions, the attraction, they remain professional, they become friends and partners. They get to know each other gently, Jackson can not help initiating meetings and discussions that are not always so professional.
Our heroes are afraid to love and then lose their loved one, so the fact that they spend time together professionally and get to know each other gently is what is best for them.
I loved London's relationship with her sisters even if it's not always perfect (therefore realistic), and Jackson's relationship with his best friend.
I loved the passion of our heroes for their work, ecology (except that our hero has a private jet...), mutual aid...
Jackson is particularly very rich but humble and not capricious. Money is not a concern between them.
London is amazing, she works very hard with her sisters but also for her sales on Etsy.
The author shows us that professional success is important and fulfilling when you are passionate, but that life is not limited to that. Family, friends and love must have a privileged place in our lives. We must savor the presence of our loved ones and not take it for granted.
The past of our protagonists, especially their losses, is very touching. We never fall into pathos but the subject is approached with sensitivity and accuracy.
Of course, there are a few secrets, imperfect communication. All this to spice up the plot. But Jackson and London's love for each other is very strong and deep.
What a pleasure to find the heroes of the first book but also of another series of the author.
In short, you have understood, I loved this novel and can only recommend it to you.
