I loved the art style and the characters. The pastel palette, all the cats, and the quirky protagonist are super cute

Absolutely loved the first Miss Petitfour and this one was even better! Lovely seasonal stories with adorable artwork and I would love to own these in my personal library.

While the Further Adventures of Miss Petitfour is the second book, you do not need to read the first book to understand what is happening, however it might help a little.

I like Miss Petitfour and her interesting travel method (by tablecloth balloon and the wind) and her cats are adorable and so helpful. I enjoyed book one, it was quirky and fun, book 2 fell a little flat for me but I am only one adult reader.

In this installment, Miss Petitfour helps her friends and neighbors and goes on more adventures with her numerous cat companions. The book takes priority in defining and explaining vocabulary works which is very nice and educational but it was hard to keep focused on the story at times because of it.

Much of what I had issue with during this read, was that there were a lot of descriptions, to the point of a run-on, jumbled, mess or words that by the time you got to the point, you almost forgot what you were trying to read about in the first place. It is even a little difficult to pinpoint the main audience for the book. It seems like a middle grade read, but is very wordy, like I mentioned and it might put younger readers off. I personally found myself skimming past some of the descriptions to get directly to the point, but didn't make me feel good.

Overall, the character of the book, Miss Petitfour, is delightful and the story is super cute. And if you like cats, she has SO many of them that are decribed in wonderful detail. However, if you have trouble focusing and reading already, this might be a very difficult book to read, it was for me.

The Further Adventures of Miss Petitfour offers a language-rich literary adventure! Idioms, rhyming words, and vocabulary builders (with entertaining & explanatory asides by the narrator) all add to the fun. I especially loved the use of various colors to emphasize specific words. Miss Petitfour is a perfect mix of Amelia Bedelia, Mary Poppins, and Miss Piggle-Wiggle. From beginning to end, Anne Michael's book is full of humor, life lessons, and lots of charm! The illustrations by Emma Block perfectly reflect the whimsical nature of Miss Petitfour.

Each chapter involves a new adventure in Miss. Petitfour's life along with her very interesting entourage of feline characters. I love that the author gives a thorough introduction to each cat by name (and offers a glimpse into their unique personality). And the supporting characters that Miss Petitfour interacts with offer a fascinating cross-section of people. Miss Petitfour handles every problem with imagination and calm. While this is not the first book about Miss Petitfour, it does not have to be read in order. Each chapter is a stand-alone adventure that offers a nice bridge for youngsters between picture books and chapter books.

I highly recommend this book for any age. It really must be read aloud for maximum enjoyment. Even better, have children act out the story as they listen. Everyone needs a Miss Petitfour in their life so grab a copy for your school and home library!

Very cute, especially when paired with the whimsical illustrations! My only complaint is to do with the formatting, as I've found with other illustrated ebooks; it took some mental gymnastics at times to piece together the sentences around the pictures. My daughter is finally getting to a point where she can sit still and listen to short chapters of longer books, as opposed to the two-minute reading time of most younger children's books, and I think she would enjoy this.

Miss Petitfour and her cats are back! Their further adventures include wearing sweaters, visiting a shop that carries just about everything, and meeting Mr. Coneybeare the confetti king’s brother, the coconut king. Miss Petitfour is an eccentric young lady who lives with her sixteen cats. She is kind and curious and a terrific navigator of winds. Which is a good thing because her preferred method of transportation is unfurling a tablecloth to the sky, lining up her cats, and letting the wind take them where they want to go.

Anne Michael’s is a Canadian novelist and poet whose work I’ve enjoyed (Fugitive Pieces and The Winter Vault) When she published The Adventures of Miss Petitfour in 2015, I bought a copy of the book for my then infant daughter and we’ve since read it together twice. My daughter is in a bit of a cat stage and was absolutely delighted when we read Miss Petitfour together again last year. She dressed up as Miss Petitfour for her school’s book character day this year and lamented that there were no more books about Miss Petitfour and her many cats. We talked about what other kinds of adventures they might have and then I was then thrilled to learn that a sequel had already been created and will be available later this year.

The Further Adventures have all of the charm and quirk of the original book but even more so. We learn a bit more about each of the cats – and here Emma Block’s illustrations really add to the whimsy of the story as we get to see her drawings of the cats with their various personalities. This second book features more of Miss Petitfour’s friends and neighbours, including a local race with a number of racers with very long surnames (particularly challenging when reading aloud!) Mr. Coneybeare is a prominent figure once more, along with his brother, and while his friendship with Miss Petitfour grows, it was nice to leave it as simply a pleasant friendship without romantic overtones that would be over the heads of young children.

Miss Petitfour isn’t widely known but if you have a quiet-ish young child around the ages of 5 to 9, particularly one who enjoys cats, I highly recommend these delightful books. While you probably don’t have to start with the first one, I do think it enhances the experience. We’ll be purchasing a hardcopy as soon as it’s available to read over and over again together.

I love the art in this book. Its well done and super super cute. I enjoyed seeing each cat, and also learning about each cat and their personality. I enjoyed each of the stories (5 total). Each adventure was different, silly, and I enjoyed reading how each cat had its own personality and was included throughout. I also really liked that while this was a book full of silly adventures it also included learning without seeming like it was learning. So the author would pick a word, make the definition fit into the story line while explaining it but it doesn't seem like it's a learning lesson, or coming straight out of the dictionary. I think this is very creative, and I really enjoyed it. This is definitely something I will be buying a copy of(rather than kindle reading) and reading with my kiddos.

I received an ARC of this book via netgalley for my honest review. Thank you to the publisher, Netgalley, and the author!

Obligatory note that I did not read the original adventures of Miss Petitfour. I really enjoyed this book, which reminds me of classics such as Edgar Eager’s books and The Phantom Tollbooth and Miss Piggly-Wiggly. Miss Petitfour likes to have adventures that are “just the right size” for a “single, magical day”. Also she has sixteen cats and they each have a distincy personality, which is delightful. The illustrations are fantastic, and it’s a cozy read. You can read it story by story or all in one day, but I definitely recommend reading it story by story, even though it’ll be hard! Lots of creative wordplay in here, including vocabulary words to expand yours. Five stars.

I love everything about this book! The illustrations are a delight, giving us Beatrix Potter vibes for sure. The voice of the narrator in this book is also a delight. There is such a delightful turn of phrase and development of story that I cannot wait to read again and again.

Good illustrations. I like the cover. It is pink and soft. So many details she puts in the illustrations. Have a look at the cat chapter, the character for each cat are superb! I like it very much.
Aside from the color, illustrations, and character, ofc the story is interesting.

This book is a collection of stories surrounding the adventures of Miss Petitfour, her many cats, and their friends. I loved the names of the cats, and thought the illustrations were very fun and whimsical. The writing style is sweet, fun, and perfect for young readers. I enjoyed the eccentricity of the village and Miss Petitfour. Sometimes the lengthy hyphenated last names felt too long, but overall, I really enjoyed this read! The stories were humorous and entertaining.
Thank you to NetGalley for the digital ARC and the opportunity to share my opinions on the book!

This book was magnificent. I fell in love with the Adventures of Miss Petitfour when my daughter was younger, and we both adored the whimsical illustrations, the adorable story, and the precious main character, her cast of cats, and the quirky villagers she calls neighbors. I was saddened when there was not a second book, so when I saw that Michaels was releasing Miss Petitfour's further adventures in a new book, I had to have it.

This story did not disappoint. It was whimsically delicious, imaginatively adventurous, and a celebration of creativity and celebrating the magical every day moments that make up most of our lives. Of course, Miss Petitfour and her cats are back in this one, but we also get to meet several of her dearest friends in much more detail, and they are just as wonderful as Miss Petitfour herself.

I truly cannot recommend this book highly enough. It is perfect for the youngest of children all the way up to those who are still simply young at heart.

This was a very cute book! It’s quirky, witty and educational. I appreciated that it was very clear in defining the meaning of words that are most likely new to the young readers. I adore the illustrations. I did feel at times that it was a little ramble-y but it could also be because I’m not the intended age group. Overall, I did love this e-ARC and it’s definitely something I’d purchase for my own child.

The Further Adventures of Miss Petitfour is a beautiful book. The illustrations are delightful, and any cat lover will adore Miss Petitfour and her furry companions.

I had a hard time figuring out who the audience was for this book. It seems as if it should be middle-grade, but is far too wordy. Some adults would enjoy this but I found myself getting bored quickly with the long descriptions and lists.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

"The Further Adventures of Miss Petitfour" is utterly captivating! Anne Michaels has produced a delightful sequel to her first book about Miss Petitfour, and readers will be thrilled to revisit once more the beautiful, enchanting, dreamy, whimsical, cosy and comforting world of the heroine. Anne has a remarkable gift for language and her magical play with words is perhaps at the heart of the charm of this book.

"The Further Adventures of Miss Petitfour" is the perfect comfort read, brimming with exquisite descriptions of nature, the seasons and its characters. A special treat for readers in this book (as in the first book) is the imaginative descriptions of the delectable, luscious foods enjoyed by the characters.

Anne Michaels' new book is an absolute "must buy" for my bookshelf!
