I think it’s a fun Christmas read. It’s a good choice for those that want to fill the void of the chaotic and dysfunctional but living family (aka most families) this holiday season. Especially given all the lack of gatherings with covid
A holiday short story featuring a more grown-up family and the stressors for mothers during the holiday time. The story has a good twist with a talk show bit. Good characters, fun story, relatable on many levels.
Oh, this really was fun. A great, quick, hilarious holiday read.

Absolutely loved this book. I needed something happy to read. This didn't disappoint at all. Great story and very well plotted out and written perfectly.
This is a great novella that captures all of the stress and pressure of the holiday season! Seriously relatable right now. Claire could be me (I might make myself go missing!) and the story left me wanting more of the Clauster family.
If you don't have much time to read while you're trying to make spirits bright, this quick and charming Christmas tale is exactly what Santa ordered.
Thanks to Amazon Original Stories and NetGalley for the copy to review.
This was a cute, quick and funny story that I was lucky to be able to read early! Thanks Chandler for giving me the opportunity. This is not your typical cutesy holiday read and does explore some interesting family dynamics but overall I enjoyed this read!
Man, this was not fun. I thought it would be nice to read something festive and I'm not sure what this was. It was a garbled mess and honestly, I wasn't able to care enough to try to understand what was going on. It read like a first draft
Thank you to Netgalley for an ARC of this short story.
Oh. What. Fun. is about a family learning to appreciate one another. Claire Clauster is the perfect mom, if a little overbearing and too willing to please. I thought her children's asides regarding their mother's judginess and controlling behavior hilarious. All of her children have come home for christmas, and they're shocked when she doesn't live up to their expectations. In fact, she has totally disappeared! This was a fun story to read and I appreciated that it was not a love story. This is my first Chandler Baker, and I will definitely check out her other books.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the Kindle ARC short story. Oh, What Fun! is a short, Christmas story about a family who is so wrapped up in their individual needs and wants that they forget the effort and sacrifices the family matriarch makes in order to make the holidays special. Mom goes off the rails and ends up at her favorite talk show host's show but with the results she needed - recognition from the family and their new appreciation for her.
How was this a short story and it lasted way too long. For me I wanted a super sweet holiday romance comedy but this was a let down. I don't think it brought anything new or creative to the table.
This was a super quick read and the first I’ve read by this author. It was a interesting read about families and how stressful they are during the holidays.
I received this ARC through #netgalley and I am voluntarily reviewing this book
If I'm being honest. This book was just a bit boring. It was short and I finished it but this book just wasn't for me. I will say the cover is darling though!
Maybe I didn't love this because once again Chandler Baker knows how to point out the emotional/mental/physical load of mothers. While I really enjoyed The Husbands by Chandler Baker, this one missed the mark. I didn't actually find this one funny. And again, this may be skewed by my current emotional and overwhelmed state with three children.
Overall, it was a short story. So it was short. Very little time investment and that is my silver lining.
What a fun short story for the winter holidays! This short story follow Claire - exhausted mom who does everything for everyone else. Claire always makes sure the holidays and perfect, the gifts are chosen, the favorite foods are made, and then everything is clean. She does it all! But this year, she wants to do one thing for herself... which means tricking her family so she can leave without them knowing.
Oh. What. Fun. 🤩 hit the spot for a short & sweet seasonal comedy. Chandler Baker always makes me laugh with her exhausted mom heroines who are just “over it.” Although this was not my fave of hers, it was just a novella, so I took it with a grain of salt (or should I say sugar?)
Definitely worth picking up, since it’s free for Amazon Prime users.
Super short quick holiday read. I was expecting it to be funny and there were some parts that made me laugh but the overall theme wasn't humorous. As a mom that desires to do everything just so for my family I understood Claire and the need to disappear and do something for myself, if nothing more than for a little recognition. I was very confused on who was narrating. I would and have recommended this to several friends. I also liked the fact that with the Amazon Kindle unlimited download reads can also download the audio.
Thank you Netglley, Chandler Baker and Amazon for the advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
This story was…fine. Maybe I just don’t relate. My family does holidays but I don’t feel like we make them quite this stressful. And if I told my mom to relax to not make such a production over it, I’d mean it. And if my mom wanted to order pizza instead of spending a ton of time, money and energy on a fancy dish I’d say of course or if I wanted it that bad I’d make it my own damn self. I think I just hated her selfish family, was that the moral of the story? Idk. 3 stars.
Thank you NetGalley, author and publisher for this copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
This was a really cute short story! I usually don't think to look for these but I thought it would be fun to try one in between books. It was perfect for the holiday season and the author did a great job of developing the characters in such a short amount of time. Would definitely recommend it to those looking for something short and holiday themed.
This was a very cute, funny short story revolving around Christmas. The family members were quirky and relatable. The plot around the mother was funny, and the ending had me laughing out loud. All around a good, quick humorous story for the holidays.
This one was so cute. . .until the last 10% or so. I really loved the two perspectives - showing how much the mother did to make the holiday (and really all year and their lives) easier. She tried so hard to make special memories for them all. I was completely all in as the son tried to understand and slowly uncover what had happened. But I was a bit let down the turn it took but I did like the humor and story. I wish it had been longer, I would have loved to get to know this family more.
A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.
