I got to 65% and couldn't keep going. I was very up and down with this book. I wasn't into it at the beginning, then got into it, but then once Phoebe and Lucien were at a good spot it just got uninteresting again. I also did not like the dynamic of their relationship. Don't get me wrong, I like my spice, but theirs was pure lust and not much else to it. This might just not have been the book for me.

I have come to the conclusion that vampire fiction is no longer for me. It seems that I have completely out grown my vampire phase. I think it left when Buffy left.

I wasn't the biggest fan of this book.
It's a fun paranormal romance but I just wasn't vibing with it. I think other fans of the genre might enjoy it more than me.
Overall. 2 stars

Loved reading the awesome and amazing paranormal story. Lucien, King of the Vampires, finds his mate, Phoebe, a witch. Since Lucien doesn't want Phoebe to keep disappearing, he puts magical cuffs on her and brings her back to his castle. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, full of action and romance, and a must read love story. Can't read to read the next story in the series.
I reviewed a copy of the book through NetGalley.

Thank you to NetGallery and the publishers for this arc in exchange for an honest review! OMG! I could not put this book down, it consumed me from start to finish! I’m positive i’ll be thinking about this book in the weeks to come. The storyline was amazing, with perfectly balanced spice involved. I even felt connections to the secondary characters, and cannot wait to read more about them in the books to come as part of this series! There was never a dull moment in this book, it was action packed and I was desperately trying to read on the see what would happen next! I definitely enjoyed the fantasy and paranormal aspect of the story also.

Queen of Broken hearts is a fantasy dabbling in Vampires, Witches and Mythology. I have recently started getting into the fantasy genre and this book made me fall in love with the genre even more. I became obsessed with this book and found myself not wanting to put it down. Even though I find most fantasies hard to comprehend, this book was laid out in an effortless and digestible way. There are some elements to this book that remind me of Sabrina, The Vampire Diaries, and Underworld. The book is also told in dual POV, which happens to be my favorite. Lucian’s chapters are depicted with vampire fangs and Phoebe's chapters are depicted with a grimoire.

Phoebe, our female main lead, is a powerful and strong witch. Lucian, our male main lead, is a ten thousand year old vampire king who is also very powerful. Both characters struggle with trust, due to circumstances in their past.

The book starts off with Lucian in the middle of a mythical orgy where he is struggling to get the man in his pants up. However, a woman stumbles across him and his c*ck immediately hardens and he becomes instantly enthralled with this woman. This scene was SO hot and SO GOOD. Additionally, all the spicy scenes were exquisitely written, making your cheeks blush, leaving you panting and craving more. Lucian is an alpha male who knows what he likes and revels in dirty talk, relying solely on submission and consent. After this encounter they go their separate ways. Yet, Lucian is adiminte on tracking this female down. During the hunt, we go through the struggles of both Lucian and Phoebe in their ability to trust.

This book showcases in depth character development. Some examples of the character’s developments were betrayal, secrets, deceit, vengeance and corruption. I was grateful that the storyline didn’t drag out and that the details weren’t lacking because of it. In the end we are greeted with a happily ever after as well as a cliffhanger. The last 3% of the book foreshadows what is to come in the sequel and now I am dying to get my hands on it!

I really enjoyed this novel as the first I have read from Jeanette Rose. This was a great intro to a new world with a BA heroine and fated mates (my favorite trope right now).
I will definitely be reading the next in the series. I think there are some areas for improvement in the writing, however, the storytelling and overall plot were thoroughly enjoyable.

Here are some thoughts on key aspects of the novel:
Plot: Loved the plot it was enjoyable and I loved the fated mate trope so so much. I think the story was original and unique and I came to love the characters throughout.
Writing: Overall the writing is great, however, I think there is an overuse of exclamation points; in my opinion, they should be used sparingly, if at all. They make what could be normal, fine dialogue sound cringe, especially during sexy scenes. Additionally, the word “immortal” was used a lot throughout, and it became noticeable, super repetitive, and sometimes annoying.
Dialogue: I did identify a few scenes where there were some cringe lines and some areas for improvement in terms of dialogue between the characters. Some of the dialogue read like prose and didn’t seem realistic, however, for the most part, the dialogue was good. It was only in a few scenes.
Prose: I personally love a sassy, sarcastic style of writing. I’m not a huge fan of the italics where we have their direct thoughts, especially because they are oftentimes repetitive of the prose that comes either before/after, however, this is a preference on my part.
Character Development: I did enjoy the development of characters, especially how she delved into Lucien’s growth as a partner and Phoebe’s growth as she addresses major trauma and situations.
Scenes: I think there are some scenes where the characters came off as a bit immature, but that could also be, for me, because of the overuse of exclamation points.

Paranormal books are my cup of tea. This book was filled with vampires, romance, and lots of action. This story was a little long, but well worth it. Can’t wait to see where this story goes

I'm not sure what I was expecting when I started reading this book, but it was soo good. Phoebe is on the run, trying to stay hidden, and it works for years until she meets Lucian. Lucian is the king of Vampires and he has finally met his mate, only she wants nothing to do with him.

The author managed to do great world building which made it easier to visualize the setting and what was going on in the book. The characters built their relationship realistically, they found trust with one another, enjoyed spending time together, and worked to fight for each other when it came down to it. I loved Phoebe's strength and how she made the best of her situation. A lot of the time when authors bounce between character's point of view it makes the story confusing, Jeanette Rose did the switches very smoothly and it gave more to the story. I hope that we get to see more of Erik and get his story.

Synopsis

The Witch:
Phoebe Atreus is a witch who constantly finds herself on the run. She utilizes a set of rules to keep her safe and each rule has helped her to stay alive for over a decade. The rules are a byproduct of distrust, fear, and skepticism from events of the past. While she still fears the unknown, the vampire king may be just enough to break down those walls and allow Phoebe to break those strict rules that she follows.

The Vampire:
Lucien Silvano is the king of the vampires and has been for the last ten thousand years. Lucien finds himself at a standstill in his immortal life and nothing has peaked his interest except this beautiful women that catches his eye. She is the exception to every rule and she makes him want to move past his abandonment issues. However, the problem at hand is that this woman wants absolutely nothing to do with him.

Review:
I love a good paranormal romance! A vampire king and his witch mate. Sign me up! I absolutely loved the main characters and even the side characters drew me in. I would love to see more of Erik’s story.

The Queen of Vampire Hearts is a modern erotic romance that is told from the POV of Phoebe (a Witch on the run) and Lucien (ten thousand year old Vampire King). I was a bit hesitant when starting this book because I find that a lot of paranormal erotic books come off as cheesy and cringe. However, I absolutely loved this book. While there was obviously sexual tension and chemistry between our two main characters; we also got to see how the feelings and emotional aspect developed.

I loved the world building and the details that made it so easy to visualize the setting. The story kept me captivated and wanting to know more about Phoebe's mysterious past and what would happen to our beloved characters. I absolutely adored Phoebe and while Lucien at times made me very upset. I liked seeing his point of view and felt as though it tied the story together very well.

Queen of Vampire Hearts by Jeanette Rose is set in a world where numerous castes of immortals walk the earth. Phoebe has spent the last 10 years of her life, in hiding and constantly looking over her shoulder, hunted by the Witches’ Council for crimes she didn’t commit. Lucien,, King of the Vampires, has spent the last several millennia on Earth and has now grown severely bored and disenchanted with his life. When the two meet by happenstance at a faerie realm party, sparks fly, and the mythical mate bond snaps into place for Lucien.

Although the readability of this book was "easy" and fast-paced due to the plot, I had some issues with the main characters. I thought Lucien was WAAAY too possessive, right from the get-go. I felt like he came off like a stalker and maybe he could've been written slightly less domineering and creepy.

I like that Phoebe wasn't intimidated by Lucien and held her ground in most issues. She was intelligent, flawed yet showed a strength of character that usually is somewhat lacking in leads for this type of novel.,. Her story was intriguing and you kept getting little glimpses into what has caused her to be on the run. I thought the relationship between the two of them was cringey and forced. I didn't seen any "building" of a true relationship; they just liked the sex between them. There were a few instances where they asked a few questions of each other and it was considered a "Deep Conversation." With that being said, I did like their dynamic with each other towards the end. In fact, as the book went on, and the story itself unfolded, along with other characters being introduced, like the Lycans, I thought the story got better.

The plot was interesting and fun and made the book go quick. The steam factor is super high, so if there are prudish readers out there, this is not the book for you! Overall, any quirks or issues I had with the characters was outweighed by the overall storyline. I would definitely read another book in this series.

Witches and Vampires and Werewolves, oh my! The Queen of Vampire Hearts is a modern erotic romance, told from the POV of fated mates Phoebe (the most powerful witch alive) and Lucien (ten thousand year old King of the Vampires). Phoebe has been on the run from the Council of Witches for the past decade, facing a death sentence for breaking an unjust law. When she and Lucien meet in the fae realm, things turn explosive. While neither can deny the chemistry they share, the lack of trust between them can result in the end of everything they hold near and dear.

I will say that the world building in this novel was spectacular. The story line kept me turning the pages until the very end, eager to uncover the mystery of Phoebe's past and what their respective futures would look like. However, the writing lends itself much more to a dominant male bodice ripper than a romantic fantasy, especially towards the beginning of the novel. While Lucien wasn't my cup of tea, I thought that Phoebe was lovely and I lived for the chapters that were told from her POV. Overall, an intriguing, even if at times unfocused, read.

Excellent vampire romance! I so enjoyed this tale of the vampire king and his witchy mate. The storytelling was very good and the characters very interesting as well. Lucien is a ten thousand year old vampire who is discontented with life having lost interest in everything and everyone around him until the night he crosses paths with a beautiful mystery woman who brings not only his body back to life but has him wanting to claim her too. But before he can take things further she disappears and so starts the chase. Phoebe has been on the run for over ten years for killing witches and with a price on her head she doesn't stay anywhere to long or make attachments until the night she meets the alluring and sexy vampire lucien and all the rules she goes by go out the door with one touch and kiss! What's a witch to do! Theirs action and plenty of steamy sex and a few laugh out loud moments and a great storyline with awesome secondary characters like Erik king of the Lycans and his crew! Loved this group of wolfs! Until next time Luv's❤💋

Thank you Netgalley and Rose and star publishing and author Jeanette Rose for the Copy of Queen of vampire Hearts😘

Woah. I didn’t expect to like this so much.

Just to get this out of the way, the start of this book is a little rocky. It starts off really sexy really quick, and without establishment of characters or plot, I didn’t really care about the first sexual scene. But, if you hang on, this will be worth your while.

After chapter 3 I was HOOKED. Once the world-building, magic system and plot are explained, I got really invested. This book is addictive and I kept turning page after page to see what happens next. The angst is 10/10. I was up way past my bedtime reading this just waiting to see what happens next.

This is fast-paced, plot-driven, and a quick read. I would not say the writing is a literary masterpiece. However, I would definitely say this is a guilty pleasure read, and it is so good at what it intends to do.

I really liked the characters as well, though I do think there could be some more differentiation in voice for the characters, as this jumps back and forth between the male love interest and the female love interest.

I would recommend this to people who liked Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon or Rhapsodic by Laura Thalassa, and any other steamy fantasy romances.
