This book was just perfect. The pacing was great and the overall story was captivating; I really enjoy sports romances, especially when both characters are athletes. I usually don’t care for the single parent trope, however I adored it in this book; the character of Katie absolutely made this book for me.
It took me a little while to get into this story since I didn’t like Jasmine in the beginning. I thought her life choices regarding her career were selfish. But as she interacted with Katie and Will, her character blossomed. I really liked Will although he came across as older than early twenties. Katie was a cutie. I enjoyed following their journey with the hiccups along the way. The plot twist at the end was an exciting surprise. There is mention of child abuse so those sensitive readers be forewarned. I wonder if big sister, May, will get her story?
I love this book!! It’s has single-parent trope, sports romance, awareness. Every character was likeable except the villains .I was into the story that i didn't figure out the plot twist (kinda) at the end of the book. Baseball player and Single father Will has a terrible introduction to Jasmine in the beginning but Katie takes a drawing to her.I love that Jasmine realizes that she’s doesn’t have to go in a direction that she outgrown. I love how everyone is soo supportive and the epilogue is soo cute.
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this arcs
I absolutely loved everything about this book! The characters had an amazing chemistry that made the story so real.
Will finds out he’s a father to this adorable little girl that the mother left at his front porch with a note pinned to her shirt. Apparently Katie has been traumatized and doesn’t speak. With the note there is a birth certificate saying she’s four, and that he’s the father, meaning he was seventeen when she was conceived. To say that he’s shocked is putting it mildly.
Jasmine has made ballet her whole life, she doesn’t know anything else. Since her injury and surgery, she’s hasn’t been able to dance. Every week she goes to see a therapist that is helping her to deal with what her future could be without ballet. On one particular appointment, she sees a beautiful little girl sitting in the waiting room all by herself. Jasmine tries to draw her into conversation to no end. While she’s waiting, Jasmine starts to do some ballet stretches. She invites the girl to join her, when she does her father comes out and starts to yell at Jasmine.
When Will goes home, he notices that Katie is in front of the mirror practicing what that woman was doing. His father encourages Will to put Katie in ballet. Every studio he checks, he leaves disappointed. Will finally realizes that he’s going to have to apologize to the woman in the waiting room, and try to convince her to give private lessons to Katie.
Their start is a rocky one, since he’s so protective of Katie. He needs to come to trust Jasmine. The fact that he’s so attracted to her doesn’t help.
This was such a beautiful love story. Katie stole the story. A definite must read.
This was a fun read! A ballet dancer and baseball player meet at a therapy session and one thing leads to another. I liked the mystery that played into the story as well. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.
Cute, sweet read about a ballerina and baseball player who have always known and wanted to for their future. But, they both are at a point in their lives where they need to look towards the future. One moving on and the other doesn’t want to give up their dream. They haven’t looked beyond their career. Baseball player and Single father Will has a terrible introduction to Jasmine, the ballerina who is recovering from an injury. It doesn’t go very well, but his daughter has a connection with Jasmine and she is the only one that seems to get through to her. There is a bit of suspense, some spiciness, their have fantastic chemistry. The only setback for me was the story was written in 3rd person, it took awhile to get in the story but overall cute story.
A very cute romance novel from Raine Thomas! I really enjoyed Jasmine and Will's story. I liked all the connection to her other books as well. I liked that this book had some heavier themes as well. I can't wait to read more of her books!
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review.
There's so much to say! Where to start
But really it's a simple loving story of 2 ppl
Will is a football player who is used to his world of sex, party but still loves his father and family.
When he found out he is a father how he loved his child is just touching..an protective father who put everything behind for his daughter home he found unexpectedly!
Jasmine worked her whole to be a Ballet dancer and now everything is going to spiral!! She knows nothing but ballet and she's determined to get back at any cost but she finds herself falling for Katie & will and she is fighting with everything to not let Love in her plan
Well! Will isn't so easy to give up.
A nice one time read story
This is a contemporary read, with a guaranteed HEA. I thought the book was really good, with a believable and relatable plot. Will was surprisingly down to earth and Jasmine's goals and fears made her a solid pairing. I liked that the plot wasn't just a fluffy romance, though there were aspects of that, but that both characters acknowledged the need to grow and understand one another.

For the Win is a standalone romance filled with beautiful character development that makes it stand out within this genre.
Will is a single dad and a famous closer for the Atlanta baseball team. Jasmine is a ballerina recovering from a sidelining injury and starting to re-evaluate the next steps in her career. They connect over his daughter Katie, who is non-verbal but discovers a passion and talent for dancing.
I loved watching each of these characters develop personally and professionally. Enjoyable start to finish and I can't wait to go back and read the other stand-alones for characters that made a cameo in this book (Lily and Archer, Evan and Sierra, Cole and Everly).
I am obsessed with this story!! I cannot tell you how many times I squeeled at both how cute Katie was and how good of a dad Will is. This story tugged at my heart strings and made me so happy. I’m just so bummed I can’t get it in paperback.
4.5⭐
For the Win is an extremely well-written and beautifully developed romance. That drew me in thanks to characters who grow as they face challenges both personally and professionally, and a little girl whose development was so touching to read. And with the perfect mix of drama, angst and chemistry. For the Win was an impressive and compelling tale. That I'd happily recommend to others.
Jasmine and Will most definitely get off on the wrong foot, but when thrown together by the mutual goal of helping his special-needs daughter explore her love of dance, these two complex people find they may just complement each other better than they ever imagined.
What I liked best about this novel was how fully fleshed out the characters and their worlds are. Both characters have friends and family they're close to. They have passions, careers, side hustles, and interests that make then fully realized, interesting people. The story is just as much about them growing individually as it is about their relationship, which elevates this past a standard romance.
Readers should be aware that the plot features several references to child abuse that may be distressing.
Fans of romance, and especially sports romance, should definitely pick this up. It's sweet, steamy, and quite a compelling read!
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
