Patricia Johns has written such a sweet Amish story in her newest release Loving Lovina. I loved it and am giving it five stars.
This book is different than other Amish books I have read, Not my first by this author but much different from others. There are a lot of things going on. I was provided a copy by Net Galley but it did not affect my review
A Heartfelt and Inspiring Story
As a result of an accident, Lovina Yoder is now suffering from a case of amnesia. Therefore, she doesn't remember her family, the scandal involving her family, leaving her Amish home for the Englisher world, and she definitely doesn't remember her "fiancé," Johannes Miller. As Lovina rejoins her family she works toward discovering who she is and putting the pieces of her memory back together. All the while, Johannes remains by her side where part of him wants her to remember, and the other part of him is afraid that she will.
I was completely drawn into this story from the very beginning. I felt so much of Lovina's struggle and pain as she strived to get the pieces of her memory back. I also felt Johannes' struggle as he toggled between his love for Lovina and his pain at the thought that she might leave again. And I was especially moved by how deep Johannes' love for Lovina was and the impact it had on how much he was willing to help her, do for her and sacrifice for her.
Loving Lovina is a wonderful heartfelt and inspiring story of love, forgiveness, and faith. The story's pacing and details are just perfect in that they keep you drawn into the story and keep you guessing up to the very end as to how everything will come together. Author Patricia Johns has also done a fantastic job of pulling you into the story by making you feel totally connected to the characters as far as what they're feeling, what they're struggling with, and so much more. All of this is a perfect combination that makes this a wonderful story that I highly recommend.
Book Quote: Gott, where do I belong? she prayed in her heart. Where am I supposed to live my life?
*****I received a copy of this book from Kensington Books via NetGalley. All comments and opinions are strictly my own.
I have read all of Patricia Johns' Infamous Amish series. I have been anticipating the third book for months. I was not disappointed.
In Loving Lovina, readers are introduced to the youngest daughter of a disgraced Amish preacher, Lovina Yoder. Lovina took her fathers deception so hard she left the community of Bountiful to seek a life away from the scandal. Leaving her family and fiance Johannes to wonder how she is. Only to return when she loses her memory and is found in the hospital by her family.
However, Lovina has no memory of her family, fiance, or her father's betrayal. Certain tasks such as weaving and pinning her dresses come easily to her. And while she is attracted to Johannes she senses a gap in their relationship. The more Lovina ties to remember the harder it is to pinpoint memories.
That is until she is told about her year away. Lovina confronts Johannes and she demands he tell her the truth. Suddenly things are becoming clearer. And when a family from her time away come looking for her Lovina is left to decide which world she really wants to be in.
Patricia Johns definitely keeps you guessing as to when and if Lovina, a young Amish lady with amnesia will remember her past and which world she was living in..the Amish world or Englisch world. Gradually remembering her father’s scandal that sent her running to the Englisch world, she finds herself torn between the two worlds and deciding if she wants to stay with her family and fiancé. Will her fiancé be able to accept her decision if she decides to leave? Will her faith, trust and patience be enough to keep her with her family and fiancé or will she head back to the freedoms of the Englisch world. I highly recommend this book.
I was given a copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley for my honest opinion and review.
Patricia Johns has quickly become one of my favorite authors in the Amish genre, I enjoy her full length books, as well as her Love Inspired books. "Loving Lovina" was deeply touching as it explored Lovina's struggle to remember her family and fiance while recovering from a head injury- and while being reunited with the family she left behind during her running around time. Ms. Johns skillfully shows the struggles Lovina and her family experience as they re develop their relationships and create new memories. I highly recommend this beautiful story!
I hadn't read the previous two books, in fact, I wasn't aware that there were other books to this series until I started this review. So I can honestly say that I was not confused by something I may have missed in the earlier books, I started out "fresh" so to speak and had no issues with that and totally was engaged from the beginning till the end.
Knowing someone personally who had amnesia from an accident, I could understand the situation as well as Lovina's feelings as the story progressed. Slowly Lovina remembers but how will those memories affect her personally and in her family and friend relationships?
This book was very good and realistic. It did not portray a perfect family or those whose life was carefree.
I recommend this very engaging story whether you have read the previous books or not.
I received a complimentary ebook from the publisher and NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.
Fantastic book!! Once I started, it was hard to put down. Patricia Johns does not disappoint with this book. I love the unexpected twists she put into Lovina's story.
Thank you Kensington Books, Zebra for allowing me to to read an ARC of Loving Lovina by Patricia Johns.
This is book 3 in the Infamous Amish series. Each book in this series just gets better and better. The publication date for this 5-star book is March 29, 2022.
Lovina Yoder left her community of Bountiful, Pennsylvania to live in the English world after her preacher father had been arrested an created a terrible scandal in her community. After an accident, she woke up in the hospital with amnesia and did not remember her Amish family she had abandoned a year earlier. Worse, she did not remember Johannes Miller, the man who everyone claimed to be her fiancé and showed her deep love and understanding.
As memory returns, will love from family and Johannes be enough to keep her in her Amish community, or will her father’s past send her back to the English world?
Absolutely a gripping story that is impossible to put down. Definitely not the average Amish fiction.
I highly recommend this book, and the others in this series.
This is the first book I've read by Patricia Johns. It was different than most Amish fiction - it went a little deeper and showed plain families confronting some very serious problems, like crime and prison time. What I liked best about it was the sheer honesty that solved each issue and eventually mended each broken heart. Every other tactic failed, but honesty
succeeded. The characters were interesting and believable. I especially liked young Daniel, who was willing to overcome all opposition to follow his
dream. I think I'll have to check out the rest of this series! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher is NetGalley and was not obligated to post a review.
One of Patricia Johns best books! A beautiful Amish love story, but with real life challenges. The book had a lot of surprises. I have read all of the books in this series and highly recommend each one but especially this one. It kept me in suspense until the very end. It was one of those books that you couldn't put down until the very end. I loved it!
So nice to see the return of Lavina even though it isn’t a traditional return. I have really enjoyed the Yoder family and how they have all overcame the scandal their father created. This book keeps you guessing till the end what Lavina will do. This book reminds us God has a plan even if we don’t know how it will turn out he is in control. Well done!
