Riveting cosy mystery with a few twists and uncovered secrets! I cannot recommend this series enough if you enjoy an interesting mystery with a good plot and red herrings. The characters are well-developed, the pacing is good and I enjoy the writing very much.
I definitely didn't see the ending coming, it was a nice last twist and a good surprise.

I just can't praise this series enough I absolutely love it!

It is what it says a cosy mystery. Every time I see a new Eve Mallow Book on the horizon I am elated, Clare has an exceptional talent i'm a huge fan.

I love an amateur sleuth being a big fan of Miss Marple and Jessica Fletcher and Eve is a modern day sleuth it would be fab to see this as a TV series!

Eve is a fantastic character who just goes from strength to strength and I adore the relationship she has with her trusted side kick Gus (in fact all the characters that appear in the series are sensational) and I love the setting it's easy to visualise with the amazing writing of such a talented author.

This had me hooked from the beginning to the end and had me up into the early hours to race to the conclusion I just couldn't put it down.

Ideal for a quick and easy read of an English countryside. The methods are becoming repetitive like Eve getting the wham moments on a walk, Robin getting the clues when she hits a roadblock to mention a few.

A famed ghosthunter has been murdered. The village is keen on the idea that the supernatural just had to be involved. Eve Mallow has been assigned to write his obituary, as this is her part-time job and is one she takes quite seriously. From the very beginning, Eve stands on the other side of the line. She is sure that the murderer is as human as she is. So, she begins asking probing questions.

When Eve thinks of composing an obituary, she likes to find out as much as she can about the deceased. This makes it rather easy for people to talk to her. To confide in her. But, Eve goes the extra mile. In fact, she has become more than adept at solving quite a few murders. Well, with Emory Fulton's death, Eve intends to do just that.

Eve doesn't work alone, however. Not only does she have her trusty dachshund Gus with her every step of the way, she also has her beau Robin by her side. Robin is the village of Saxford's St. Peter's gardener. But, he is much more than that. In fact, he once was a detective inspector. Due to his previous employment, Robin and Eve have very good reasons for keeping their blossoming relationship secret.

What of Emory Fulton? Why did he show up in the village and now has been murdered? Well, the locals love a good ghost story, and what better time to spin the most interesting tales as Eve talks to everyone she can find? Quite naturally, there are a bevy of suspects. How far will Eve push to get to the truth of what happened, and will she manage to stay stafe in her endeavors?

Oh I loved this book and have been thoroughly enjoying this entire series. I adore Eve. A mother to grown twins, she still has a marvelous joie de vivre. Yes, a rich and charming life with more than one job, a handsome man at her side and the innate skill of solving even the most difficult of cases.

Eve Mallow reminds me of a younger version of Miss Marple or even Jessica Fletcher. Clare Chase has written another winner and I am really looking forward to the eighth book in this delightful series.

Another great cozy mystery in the Eve Mallow series.
Eve becomes intrigued by a new comer, Emory, who claims he can talk to ghosts. There are lots of private conversations and arguments going on around town, and Eve's sleuthing skills come out when Emory is found drowned in a bathtub. There are a lot of suspects, not as many motives, and even fewer people without alibis. But working with Robin, and of course the police, the pieces of the mystery slowly come together.
Lots of little twists and turns and a surprise ending. Love this story, the characters are some of my favorites, and the plot flows easy from one scene to the next.

Emory Fulton has long been the black sheep of his family. Once a famous TV ghost hunter he is now just scraping by and has begun giving tours of Saxford St Peter's historical locations, including Eve Mallow's cottage, and the occasional seance or private reading. With a dark past of its own the rest of the Fulton family aren't delighted to have him back in the village and he has been reduced to living in the almost derelict Magpie Lodge.

Eve was just getting to know the friendly yet enigmatic man when he is found dead. Hired to write his obituary she is determined to help find his killer and with best friend Viv's encouragement, her lover and ex-detective Robin's support and, of course, faithful dachshund Gus at her heels, begins her work but when another local resident is attacked the investigation takes on an added urgency.

This is the seventh Eve Mallow and could be ny favourite so far although I have loved them all. There are so many twists, turns and secrets gradually disclosed it keeps you guessing right to the end. Although all the regular main and secondary characters are present Robin was a more cental protagonist this time which I enjoyed.

The whole series has been entertaining and tightly written by an excellent author and this, thank goodness, is no different. As a job, an obituary writer is inspired and has always given this cosy series an originality which I hope will continue for a few more books at least.

I loved Mystery at Magpie Lodge. The characters were all very interesting characters. Poor Emory sounded like an intriguing person. It was a pity he came to such an untimely end. I loved how the story took different twists and turns in trying to find out who the murderer was. It certainly kept me captivated. Eve Mallow is a lovely character and reminded me of Miss Marple. I loved all the red herrings and was hooked to the very end,

Emory Fulton has returned to quaint Saxford St. Peter and his family is not happy. Brother Roger is active with a prominent charitable trust and hoping for a knighthood. He doesn’t need ghost hunter Emory, author of the bestselling “Haunted” series, leading spooky evening tours and conducting seances. The problem is solved when, soon after his return, Emory is found drowned in the bath.

Enter Eve Mallow, part-time baker and manager of her best friend’s tea room, freelance obituary writer and full time amateur detective. She knows that learning as much as she can about the deceased will help her create a thorough obituary and sometimes lead to discovering the identity of a killer. Of course, she interviews Roger, his decorator wife Selina and their daughter Coco. Selina’s partner Ada, her son Laurence and wife Poppy also provide information. Another death makes Eve realize that the murderer is desperate and may need to kill again.

Mystery at Magpie Lodge is an intelligent cozy mystery, filled with interesting characters, especially Coco, Viv and Poppy. Saxford St. Peter is charming, and an ideal location with its history, quirky residents and charming shops. This series is not to be missed! 5 stars.

This was my first Eve Mallow mystery and I enjoyed it from page one. In addition to the mystery itself, I loved the main character, her history and her clandestine relationship with an ex-cop.

I enjoyed walking the streets of Saxford St Peter because the place is described in such an atmospheric way and that only adds to the main plot. What distinguishes this cosy mystery from most is that we got to know the victims quite well, too. I got to like them a lot and I was really rooting for Eve to find their killer.

I'll be sure to read other books in the series. I recommend it to any cosy mystery fan.
