Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC.
I really loved this book! I sat down to start reading on a Saturday afternoon and had finished it by the evening.
I enjoyed seeing Abby's relationship with her sister and how they navigated their past issues. I particularly enjoyed reading about Abby adjusting to her new life after having so many changes happen in her life.
I loved her storyline with Luke and selfishly would have liked for this to continue on longer because I was enjoying reading their story so much.
This is the first book I have read by Catherine Walsh and I'm looking forward to reading One Night Only which I quickly purchased after finishing The Rebound.
This was such a wholesome read! I could not put it down I swear, I brought it with me everywhere just to be able to get a few minutes of reading in.
The Rebound tells the story of Abby, whose fast-paced life abruptly has come to a stop when she loses everything. With no other place to stay, she returns to her hometown where she doesn’t feel like she belongs and to a sister who she doesn’t get along with. But as she picks up the pieces of her life in a small Irish town, she might find more than she expected and wanted.
This was an easy read as well as very comforting! It was my first read from Catherine but not the last, I will definitely read One Night Only soon and follow her journey onwards!
My favourite character has to Abby, not only could I relate to the feeling of not knowing where life is going to take you, she also has this unapologetic trait about her. She knows what she wants and she goes for it. I don’t want to spoil too much but I very easily related to that feeling of pushing your identity away to fit in or to be someone else but as you grow up you recognise that you have a lot to be proud of.
The romance between her and Luke is sweet and not too spicy (if you’re looking for that!). The “we drifted apart” trope was executed very well and you feel the instant spark between them when they meet again.
The setting really reminded me of Gilmore Girls with the small town and quirky characters that you briefly get to know but don’t spend too much time with to form a bond with. Sometimes too many unnecessary characters can be annoying however to keep the small town vibe going it worked really well!
And thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Catherine Walsh for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review! All these opinion are my own.
My heart is warm once again. Love has shown its way once more through these pages. It is funny how it hits you where you least expect it to be. But that is just how things work with love, through fate, coincidence, life, not by force or being pushed to happen.
Easy to read, multicultural experience, and smooth, a lovely piece of work
This is my second book by Catherine Walsh and I must say her books are cheerful, and I pretend to read the books to come.
📑This ARC was granted to me through NetGalley and approved by Bookouture in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
In The Rebound, Abby finds herself down on her luck in every way possible. Home to rural Ireland is her only option while she figures out her next step. Enter Luke, childhood friend and neighbor, turned ridiculously handsome potential rebound. Abby learns that home isn't quite as she remembers it, and Luke might just mean more to her than she planned on,
I love this book, it makes me want to pack my bags and move to a small Irish town. When we meet Abby she's lost and feels like she's hit rock bottom. There's nothing quite like having to return home and sleep in your childhood bedroom. Seeing her realize that home isn't what she remembered it to be was lovely. Luke's kindness was so charming it made me fall for him immediately. While there is definitely a large element of romance between Luke and Abby, I really enjoyed watching Abby and Louise and their relationship. I adore Beth and Jess and I'm shipping them. Everything about it was spot on and so relatable. Overall I thought this was a fabulous read with witty banter and wonderful secondary characters.
This book was a delight right from the first page.
Not only was it a very sweet romance between Abby and Luke (sigh), Abby’s relationship with her sister Louise was a delight, not to mention relatable.
There were no tear-jerking moments for me, but a lot of cuteness and plenty of LOLs.
It’s an easy read, and perfect for when you need something uplifting!
I’ll admit, in the early going of this book, Abby really grated on me. A lot of her problems would’ve been solved had she just stopped lying to everyone about the actual broken state of her life. By the end, she really grew on me. And there’s nothing I love more than that HEA with the career AND the man.
WOAH, I absolutely adored this book. Reminded me of growing up in a small village and the close community feels..
I was also very amused by all these characters popping out of nowhere then leaving again! Such a wholesome book, would recommend for a light and heartwarming read!

This is a really cute read! Perfect follow up to Catherine’s first book One Night Only.
It had me laughing and I thought the banter and flirting was really cute, both had me smiling throughout! I really enjoyed the setting in a quaint little Irish town and I also really enjoyed that it was more then just a romance with Luke and Abby reconnecting but it was really nice to see Abby and Louise’s relationship get repaired.
I found Beth and Jess adorable! I love to see them have their own book!

The main reason I requested this book was the author, for I loved her previous. I won't say I am disappointed, but this one, especially the romance, didn't really work for me. Mainly because romance is not the focus of this story. It seems like a sidekick.
It started really well, and I really liked Luke but then as the story progresses, their romance starts to feel forced.
At times, I felt there were too many characters, too many conversations, which didn't really interest me. Even Luke-Abby dialogues are not very interesting.
I liked Abby and her sister's relationship, although strained yet interesting and realistic. And Tomasz's character is really sweet.
Writing is engaging. Overall, a light and nice read. Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

This was a sweet second chance friends to lovers romance.
i liked the story and I felt like Abby, the main character, experienced significant growth, both in her relationships and as a person. My biggest qualm with the book is the title. I never really felt like she was going after Luke because she was looking for a rebound from her ex. I think framing it that way was misleading, and while I enjoyed the natural development of the story, if someone were looking for a story about someone actually trying to a find a rebound, this story would not serve that purpose.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book!
The Rebound is an easy and fun read with light humor. The main character, Abby, leaves New York to return to her childhood home in Ireland after losing her job, fiancé, and place to leave. She moves in with her sister, Louise, and her husband. I enjoyed watching the relationship between Abby and Louise. Abby also reconnects with her childhood, boy next door, Luke. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
This was a fun and easy read, and the romance was great! Not too spicy but it definitely kept me interested.

This was a quick and easy read, in a reversal of small-town girl/guy makes good in the big city trope. Instead, small-town girl has to return to detested small town after her life basically implodes (echoes of Lehmann Bros. here), Putting a strained relationship with her sister (who has taken over ownership of the house they both grew up in) to the test, she moves back into her childhood bedroom. Lots of miscommunication ensues, both with the sister and with the boy next door-turned hottie who is still around. I have to admit, I couldn't feel any connection with the main protagonist, nor did I really feel any chemistry between her and hottie next door. I did like the way the relationship between the sisters developed, and the ending was nicely done.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review! This book was so fun and I really enjoyed the whole cast of characters! The spice level was really low but the romance was great!
Abby’s financial company in New York has gone bust in spectacular fashion and her fiance has broken off their engagement. So she returns to Ireland to stay with the sister she never really got on with.
But she hits a stumbling block straight away when she discovers there is no bus back to Clonard but luckily a local offers her a lift. She eventually realises that it was her former neighbour Luke, looking a lot different than he used to when they were kids.
This was a cute romance, which sees Abby bounce back from losing everything – and realise that she doesn’t need to be all work, and no home life.

Romcom with small town vibe? Running away from the ex to suddenly bump into a hot stranger?? Or was he a stranger??🤔🤓 sign me up!
Starting this hoping to get some angst but maybe next time hehe.
Now let’s just jump straight to the romance.
The “love” story or something romantic between Abby and Leo seems very “easy”. While I hope to get slow burn vibe, it was just their story seem so easy. Miscommunication? Of course. But it was solved very easily. I mean it’s good when they’re so understanding and hear the explanation but it was too easy😂😂😂 I know I’m weird I think I’m just used to read something angsty these past week or month🤪.
But the funny thing is I don’t get “the rebound” feeling from it at all. I felt like both of them seem genuine with each other. I thought with “the rebound” being the title, there will be something angsty going on but n-o they’re so sweet with each other.
Aanddd the banter between the Reynolds sister is just so fun to read!

This romcom follows Abby as she tries to figure out life. Losing her job and her fiancé breaking up with her, Abby moves back to Ireland to stay with her sister. While traveling back, she meets a handsome stranger who is actually her childhood friend/neighbor.
This book isn’t just about romance, it’s also about Abby rekindling her relationship with her family. It was nice to see the relationship between Abby and Louise grow after being apart so many years. This story wasn’t about a rebound on love, but rather than a rebound of Abby’s life. I enjoyed this sweet and heartwarming romcom!
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review. The Rebound releases February 14th!
I loved this romance for many reasons. I always love a romance ser in Ireland.
Abby was having a hard time with life but all in all, I think that she handled it well. She self refected, took time to pivot and find the right plan for her. Luke is a gem and generally a great guy. It was great fo watch their relationship flourish.
I did find a little lag in the middle however all in all a great book

Tropes:
- Friends to lovers
- Small town
- kind of second chance
I really liked this book! I LOVED Abby and Luke's story and their opportunity to be together. This books portrayed Abby returned to her home town after a failing relationship and losing her job. I loved how Abby started to appreciate her time with her sister and family/friends when she was younger! I also liked the attitude of Luke at the end to make things work.
Definitely recommend it!
Thanks NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an ARC in exchange of an honest review.
Thank you netgalley for this arc copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.
First of all, I think this is not a rom com, I never laughed once, the description said it was a rebound situation , that never happened.
This was a nice read, more contemporary adult romance, childhood friends, and a lot of family drama
Abby, find herself in her childhood house, where now lives her sister and husband, without a job and without a fiance.
Luke, his neighbor And friend from school is this charming character, they are instantly attracted to each other, but with a lot of obstacle Between them.
This is my first book from this author, I was hoping less drama and more fun but overall it was a good story.
