I loved everything about the story. From the beginning to the very end. I love the author storytelling and the characters were completely believable. Cannot wait to read more from this author in the near future. Highly recommend this book.

The Rebound is full of witty banter and a great plot! It is your average romance novel, nothing really stood out to me but that isn't a bad thing. I'm one of those readers that can read the same plot over and over and stoll love it.

While this could have been a great read for me, I had a hard time connecting to both characters. I really wanted them to be more fleshed out than what they were. Don't get me wrong it was still a great read but I just didn't love it!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of The Rebound by Catherine Walsh. I've voluntarily read and reviewed this copy. All thoughts are my own.

I honestly flew through this book! Such a lovely, fast-paced and entertaining romcom. I loved the premise and the setting. It really gave me the cozy feeling of a small town. I loved the characters and especially the relationship between the various female characters. A lot of funny and heartwarming moment. I really enjoyed the development of the relationship between the two sisters and their banter. And a lovely ending as well!

Catherine Walsh’s “The Rebound” straddles the line between a romantic comedy and contemporary romance, delivering a story that is heartfelt, humorous, and grounded in the reality of rediscovering oneself amidst life’s unpredictabilities. Set against the charming backdrop of a small Irish town, the story doesn’t indulge in the whimsical often associated with such locales, but rather, uses it as a stage for protagonist Abby Reynolds’ journey of self-discovery and love.

The story unfolds slowly, echoing the tentative steps Abby takes in rebuilding her life after it seemingly falls apart. Returning to her childhood home under the pretense of success, she encounters Luke, a striking figure from her past, who becomes central to her story of recovery. The dynamic between Abby and Luke is a delightful dance of emotions, with enough sparks to keep the pages turning. Their evolution from strangers to friends to lovers feels organic, underlining the theme that understanding and love of self precedes that of another.

Walsh portrays Abby with depth and realism. Her struggles are relatable, as she grapples with the disintegration of her life as she knew it. The narrative doesn’t shy away from her flaws, particularly her tendency towards denial and pretense. It is through these flaws that Abby’s character grows, however, and readers are rewarded with a protagonist who learns to embrace her truth, however imperfect.

Luke complements Abby’s character beautifully, providing not just the promise of love, but a reflection of what honesty can bring to one’s life. His unwavering presence and patience are a reminder of the gentle strength required in the face of another’s personal storm.

While “The Rebound” might not have you in fits of laughter, it compensates by pulling at heartstrings, especially as Abby confronts her reality, and, in doing so, finds her strength. The story culminates in a satisfyingly sweet epilogue, promising that new beginnings are possible, even when life doesn’t go according to plan.

In summary, Catherine Walsh’s novel earns a warm recommendation for those seeking a story that blends romance with personal growth. Though it doesn’t fully immerse in the expected quirks of its Irish setting, it stands out in its portrayal of mature, independent characters navigating love and life’s messy pathways

I really struggled to finish this book! I felt as though this book was really slow getting started, and that made it more difficult for me to get into. I had a tough time engaging with the characters.

"Everyone worth anything thinks they're too old or too young or too whatever at some point, but they're not. You're not. You shouldn't doubt yourself like that." I think that this is a really cute story about how we are all on different timelines and it is never too late for your life to completely fall apart so you can reinvent yourself. I think that there was something just so cute about these characters and the overarching theme of giving yourself grace to grow. I really love Catherine Walsh's characters and her writing style so for me this felt just like a warm hug and a fun journey. I adored this!

I wanted to love this more than I did. The premise was fun and the writing was fine. The characters just didn't grab me. I like a good slow burn as much as the next girly, but this one just didn't work for me. It would make a great easy listen or read on vacation, but it didn't hold my attention as much as I'd like.

If you need an easy, feel- good romantic comedy to read, then add The Rebound by Catherine Walsh to your short TBR list!
Abbey Reynolds had it all. A high-power job in New York City, a fiancé, money, and flashy friends. That is until it all comes crumbling a part... at the same time. Her fiancé Tyler tells her he does not want to marry her anymore, and her high-power job had to let her go. Now with nowhere to live, no money, and no one to help her, she is forced to go back to her childhood home...all the way across the seas in Ireland. Shes embarrassed to tell her sister why she is there and is afraid that she overstays her welcome she will make their already rocky relationship worse. So, she neglects to tell them her new life updates. The first night back she gets drunk and looks for a rebound, only to realize her one night stand was the boy next door growing up.
This is my first Catherine Walsh book, but I was excited to jump in after reading about it. It's exactly what you expect- an easy read, funny one liners, and a sprinkle of hometown love. It would be the perfect romantic comedy to binge while snacking and drinking wine. There was a small twist at the end which I enjoyed. I also loved every character and the relationship between Abbey and her sister Louise. 4 out 5 stars!

3.5 stars

It took me weeks to read this book simply because I didn't have time.
But whenever I picked up the book to read, I read it very quickly.
So it's a quick story to read and very nice too.
I really liked this book and I highly recommend it

This book was a true gem of a slow burn romance. While it didn't have the typical steamy scenes found in many romance novels, the depth of the characters and their emotional connection made up for it in spades.

One of the standout features of this book was the male lead. Luke was hot, charming, and complex. He had his own set of struggles and vulnerabilities that made him a fully realized character, rather than just a pretty face. His chemistry with Abby was palpable from the start, and it was a joy to watch their relationship develop over the course of the story.

Speaking of Abby, she was a fantastic protagonist. Strong, independent, and hilarious, she kept me laughing and rooting for her throughout the entire book. Her journey of rediscovery and self-acceptance was incredibly relatable, and I loved seeing her grow and change as the story progressed.

But what really made this book stand out was the humor. Walsh's writing is clever and witty, and there were many moments that had me laughing out loud. The banter between Abby and Luke was especially enjoyable, and it made their growing relationship feel all the more authentic.

Overall, "The Rebound" is a must-read for fans of slow burn romances and witty, engaging storytelling. Watching Abby and Luke get to know each other all over again was a joy, and I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a heartwarming and entertaining read.

Every time I read a Catherine Walsh book, I immediately want to book a trip to Ireland. This was a super cute rom com. A bit predictable but very enjoyable. I would love a follow up for Beth’s story!

This was such an enjoyable read. I love when the novel just throws you into the trenches and Abby is definitely struggling when she finds she has no fiance, home, or job, There is only one way to go from here and it's up - well, in this case, to rural Ireland where Abby reconnects with the boy next door turned town hottie. This is a cute read, but not too memorable as the characters do not do anything out of the ordinary. The atmosphere carries most of the novel because the Irish countryside is so idyllic, it's basically a character in itself. I do wish there was more character development and risk involved, but overall it was a fun rom-com and I would definitely recommend those newer to the genre.
