This book won me over from the opening scene where Abby is waiting for the bus, only to be told she missed it....by many, many years. HA! What was extra laughable- when she didn't recognize Luke, a friend from the past who turned out to be a hottie.

As someone else who broke off her engagement and lost her job within a short span, I could absolutely relate to the main character. I loved how strong yet conflicted she was, even as she was questioning her decisions about life, work and telling her family about what was going on. Luke was gorgeous (in my mind), funny and oh so loveable. I adored the sister dynamics between Abby and Louise and I LOVED Beth and Thomasz (he had some fantastic lines!). I was laughing and swooning all the way through the book. The Irish setting made it infinitely better as well- booking a trip ASAP!

On a side note- my family and I have an egg hunt every year where we hunt for the golden egg, so that scene had me laughing and smiling for ages!

Thanks for the Arc!

I’m a total sucker for anything Ireland related. The Rebound was set in Clonard when Abby Reynolds returns to her hometown. She was previously living it up in NYC with the perfect job, friends and fiancé. When it all falls apart she really has no choice but to return home and regroup.

Right at her arrival she meets Luke. He’s grumpy and she’s not thrilled to be at this point in her life. Turns out he’s her former childhood neighbor and friend- except he’s all grown up and hot now.

Luke is swoon worthy. He helps Abby out even when she doesn’t treat him kindly. He does everything for everyone without expecting anything. And he’s always somehow there in a pinch. Some of their miscommunication was cute but some was frustrating. As a reader I sometimes wanted to grab Abby and tell her to grow up! She has a struggling relationship with her sister and a lot of mishaps with Luke. She has a lot of growing to do while figuring out her new life.

I did enjoy reading this sweet story and laughed at their banter.

(First of all, thank you so much NetGalley, publisher, and author, for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review)

Synopsis: Abby Reynolds returned to her childhood home in an Ireland town after being fired in her work and dumped by his fiancée. Her family don't know about his ex-fiancée so she is willing to pretend she is still engaged. But then, she meets a hot guy called Luke, who offers her a lift home. Gazing deep into his sparkling emerald-green eyes, Abby knows instantly that he’s exactly what she needs to take her mind off everything. The perfect rebound. Until the next day, when Abby realizes who he actually is. Not just a stranger. He is, in fact, Luke Bailey, aka the boy next door. And judging by the smirk on his face, the same Luke Bailey who’s known exactly who she was the whole time… Can she admit to everyone back home that she’s single and has lost everything? Because, if she wants the boy next door, she may just have to…

The cover and synopsis of this book made me want it to read it. Badly. Althought the start was what I expected and I was intrigued about the relationship development I think the book get worst through the pages. Sometimes I didn't understand her and the future drama they had 'til finally they are together but the book keep me reading so I'm going to give it 3 stars.

This book was really cute with the old friend trope. There was a lot of miscommunication and a lot of side plot going on at once sometimes, but I thought everything was relevant. I loved the development of Abby and her sister, and I thought it was a totally reasonable time period for everything to occur, rather than this whole relationship and development happening in the span of maybe a week. Overall, I enjoyed reading it from start to finish, and I enjoyed the dynamics of the characters.

The rebound is rom com that set in small irist Town. This follows Abby who loses everything from her amazing job, break up with her fiance or you can say she lost her perfect little life in New York. Becouse of this circumstances, she decided to go back home eventhough that is the last place she wants to be, to be staying with her older sister.

Not gonna lie, this book kinda frustrate me at first. I just don't go well with this miscommunication trope. She literally have problem with everyone in the book. It just feels weird for someone amazing like her have a very bad communication skills. I think her characters sometimes just doesn't make any sense at all. I dont like how she always delayed the most important things. Its not that hard to be honest but I tried to let it go becouse of her unfortunate circumstances.

The relationship between Abby and Luke is okay. Nothing exciting happen between them, just a very cliche romance. The chemistry between them, how do I say. I don't feel much but still both of them are adorable and its very entertaining to see both them in scene together. Besides, I am more interested on her relationship with his sister and family.

Last but not least, its an entertaining read and eventhough it seems like a romance book but its more to Abby finding herself back, to fix her relationship with her family and friends back there and also be more open instead and the book is a cute read.

Abby goes back to her childhood home in a small village in Ireland, a place she’d had no intention of returning to. But her successful career in New York has abruptly come to an end, she’s embarrassed, has no job, no home, no money, no plan and her fiancé has ended things. Back home, she comes across the lovely Luke.
Abby is ambitious and dismissive of many things so I found little sympathy for her character and her reasoning.
But I was invested in Luke and in her sister Louise.
Lots going for it to despite finding our heroine a little frustrating.

Thanks the NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review.

Really enjoyed this book. Loved the characters and narrative.
Abbey returns home to Ireland after having a high flying life that went wrong in America. I loved the relationships between Abbey and her family and Abbey and Luke. Would recommend to others. Pure escapism chick lit that hits the right notes.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an Arc in exchange for an honest opinion

Really enjoyable.

I lobed Abby's relationship with Luke and the focus on her relationship with her sister.

It's a fun read with a series of unfortunate events keeping Luke and Abby apart but without that the book would have been a lot shorter and I enjoyed it for what it was. I loved the Irish setting and felt I could relate.

Enjoyable, quick read.

It was not the romance indicated by the title page and cover that made me enjoy the read. It was a part of it, but the more significant factor was the family (both of blood and found ones) defined in the narrative.
Our lead protagonist, Abby, is newly unemployed and has found herself back in her home town (and in some ways stranded when we first see her). She is initially the standard standoffish snob missing the luxuries that city life provides and cringes at the intimacy that people living in smaller towns end up sharing. More prominent than her connection with the new man in her life is the recalibration of her sisterly relations. This was done quite well and added flavour to the plotline.
The romance was also well done; the ending was different than some of these stories typically take. Both parties were interesting and had an entertaining (but meaningful) growth arc. I liked the various characters and the sudden bursts of random humour when people meet up. I would like to give the author's next book a try as well. Sometimes some authors describe characters that you sympathize with better than others. This was one of those times.
I would recommend this book to others who find the blurb inviting.
I received an ARC thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience.

Thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture and Catherine Walsh for a copy in return for an honest review.

What an utterly delightful read. This book has me laughing and crying. I read it in one sitting as I physically couldn't put it down. I thoroughly recommend. It would make a great rom-com film or TV series.

Such an improvement from Walsh's debut- One Night Only. I was impressed by the simple yet powerful storyline that left me thinking. The characters had a touch of familiarity and felt lovely, brought together with great chemistry and dialogues. The humor is one of Walsh's strongest points, making her writing heartwarming and engaging. I loved how she touched on infertility (it was very brief but memorable). Second chance romance seems to be my current fav and though The Rebound doesn't exactly fit into the trope, I loved that Abby and Luke had a great backstory in common. Side characters were well written too. Definitely a 4 star.

A little more cheesy love story than the true, real life I was expecting from Walsh.

Abby goes back to Ireland to visit her sister when her life implodes. Without a job, a home, or a fiancé, she returns to her old home because it’s really the only place to run away to. The story was a little less rebound than I anticipated. The rebound is a very slow build.

The relationship between Abby and Louise was my favourite to watch. The sisters who are more confused and unsure about each other than actually mad or hateful. They learn to live with, and even like each other and that was so nice.

A very good book with romance and comedy.

Abbey ends back in her hometown in Ireland jobless, penniless and also been dumped by her fiancé. She accepts a lift from a stranger called Luke back to her hometown. She finds out the next day he is only the boy she lived next door to. We see the romance developing between them but also see the problems they cause each other. Abbey since moving away has never had a good relationship with her sister Louise but was see them reconnecting again.

The book was very enjoyable and would recommend it.

After reading the blurb, I was really intrigued about where this book would be going. I have a sweet spot for Ireland, as I spent time abroad and loved reading about the community and how people are making an effort in this small town.

I had a feeling from the beginning that this would be a fun read. I enjoyed getting to know both protagonists and their little backstory. It's a really lighthearted book, despite some topics and problems that arise throughout the story. As a reader, you were able to see a change for Abby, the female main character, over the course of the book. I loved the writing style and how the characters were portrayed, but the plot just kind of fell a little flat to me. Often I feel like this is a contemporary romance thing, and by all means, in this case, it's nothing that should keep you from reading this one. I had a fun reading experience, and it's definitely still a great book.

I love books set in Ireland it makes me want to go. I adored this story. Abby and Luke were adorable. Abby has returned home from New York to Ireland after the company she worked for went bust and her relationship ended. Her meet cute with Luke made me chuckle. Luke was her friend and neighbour when they were children but naturally as they grew up they drifted apart. The connection between Luke and Abby was lovely. There was alot of bumps in the road along the way to their happy ending but it was worth it. I enjoyed the side story between Abby and her sister Louise. They managed to repair their relationship and become closer through a bit of hard work. A lovely story about finding yourself, love, family and friendship with a bit of humour sprinkled through.

The rebound is leaning more towards women's fiction than a rom-com, but still I enjoyed all the elements of the story. Especially her relationship with her sister, that was a nice development.

Not to mention breaking the stereotype of "girl coming back home and decides this is what she wanted all along" mantra.

It was refreshing to see a confident heroine, with positive female friendships. I definitely have a soft spot for Abby's relationship with her sister Louise, and seeing the two of them grow and develop was really well-done, realistic and avoided cliche-ridden traps. Luke was very lovable and I enjoyed the wonderful escapism of both his and Abby's chemistry together.

The Rebound was a very well-written, heartfelt rom-com which anyone needing to cheer themselves up should read.
