I loved this story and Georgina sounds a lot like me. The characters were great and it all wrapped up at the end which I love.

I'm bummed about this one, honestly! The description SCREAMS drama, but there was very little of that in the book. Maybe I went into this with the wrong expectations, but for a book about multiple breakups, multiple swinger relationships and lots of interpersonal drama, there is actually not much happening here.

This is a new to me author and I have to say I am looking forward to reading more by this author! I loved this book

This book was a twist on the traditional rom com, with such a unique premise! While i found that it ended quite neatly, i really enjoyed reading it. The main character was really relateable.

I received an advance review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you @netgalley for my #giftedbook!

Honestly, I went into this book not knowing "the lifestyle" is code for swinging. Nonetheless I am glad I read this book as I had no idea what the lifestyle is really like. When I think about it, my mind immediately thinks of the free love era that was the 60s and 70s. I enjoyed the modern twist and learning more about what it’s really like. I also appreciated that the love scenes weren’t too graphic and let my imagination fill in the holes.
The characters are well developed and likable. Have said that, at first, I did not like Georgina’s meddling in her best friend’s lives. As the story progressed, Georgina was forced to look at herself and reflect on how her behavior impacted others so that by the end, she realized her friends didn’t need her to guide them. She needed to learn to guide herself.
The book is a fun quick read that will keep you engaged and wondering what will happen next.

This was a different type of read for me and as much as I have no interest in this lifestyle I truly enjoyed this book!
Great character development and emotions!

I liked this one a lot. But it didn't necessarily put "the lifestyle" in the best light. While it was an enjoyable story, I wish it had been a little better.

The Lifestyle started out strong but fizzled quickly. As an introduction to the The Lifestyle it was a good read. Let's face it I knew very little about this world. I think it was a little too tame in the end, if I'm going to read about swingers I suppose I want it to be more smutty!

A fun, sexy read that I flew through and immediately recommended a friend! I thought the Emma parallels were a bit of a stretch, but the book doesn't need it anyway.

Overachiever Georgina Wagman comes up with the prefect solution to solve her and her best friends’ marriages woes. They will become swingers with their current partners. Georgina’s husband Nathan was caught cheating on her with her younger law associate, Norah’s husband, Ari, just isn’t that into her anymore, and Felix is just going along because his partner, Alina wants it. But as they get involved with other couples, they start to realize this may not be the perfect fix they are looking for.

The Lifestyle is an interesting take on solving marriage problems, but in reality, is just a tale of finding oneself when the plans you made in college don’t align anymore with the person you are or want to be and you no longer are in fear of making the wrong choices. It has a spicy, romantic feel about it, although it is also very emotional and thought provoking.

I found this novel rambling and frankly boring. The main characters were one dimensional and even the swinging sex scenes were flat and unengaging. Give this lifestyle a pass.

I am always down to read books that are centered around non mainstream ideas and this is just that! Taylor Hahn is hilarious and I feel like we would be friends IRL.

I love the pacing of this book. Kept me interested the entire time and I wanted to keep reading. I love that it was different and I love the fact that this book had characters exploring their sexuality. Definitely great writing as well!

This was such a good book! I absolutely loved it! Maybe I've just never come across books a similar topic, but this book was hilarious and really tugged at your heartstrings a time or two. While the writing from a technical standpoint is nothing to write home about the story concept is original and while you'd expect this book to be drama filled it all somehow works itself our in the funniest of ways.

Very well written but I just could not engage with the plot. I’m sure there are others that will enjoy it more.
Many thanks to Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion

Georgina and Nathan are a busy young couple living in NYC climbing the ladder at a prestigious law firm. Georgina has worked hard her entire life to attain each and every one of her goals. When her marriage hits an insurmountable bump in the road she is forced to make a tough decision. To remain on track with her life plan, Georgina decides to give Nathan a second chance and that what their marriage needs is a little more excitement. With questionable guidance from a female client she and Nathan are introduced to the mostly secretive world of swinging. Her best friends Norah and Felix (harboring their own marital issues) tag along for the ride and the unlikely foursome set out to navigate this new lifestyle. At the very first party they attend Georgina bumps into her old college boyfriend - the one that got away. This in itself has Georgina questioning whether it’s her plan or her husband that is the actual problem. Not a great way to begin this new adventure, one that demands the utmost of trust between partners, problems quickly snowball. Perhaps farfetched but definitely thought provoking and a quick read, this novel interweaves the complexities of marriage and friendship with a twist.

This one fell a little short for me. I assumed it would be a little more exciting but it was a little boring. The writing was good and I did care about what happened to the characters.

I didn’t expect to like this book as much as I did, but that just goes to show that reading outside your comfort zone pays off! I’m so glad I read this! I liked Taylor’s writing and can’t wait to read more of her work in the future!

Thank you to Taylor Hahn, Netgalley and Knopf for the opportunity to read and review this title!

This book was a real-deal page turner! So good!

I read it in a day and a half, it pulled me in that much. It’s sexy, but in a such nice and sweet way.

I loved how the main character is a strong, complex and flawed woman. This is a must read!

When Georgina discovers her husband, Nathan, cheating on her, the unhappy couple doesn't turn to therapy to work through their issues. Instead, they turn to "swinging". Based on the recommendation from one of Georgina's clients, starting "the lifestyle" can save her marriage. But when an old boyfriend reenters the picture, Georgina wonders if her marriage and the life she thought she wanted are worth saving.

That's the premise of Taylor Hahn's The Lifestyle.

Apparently, this novel is an updated version of Emma, so if you're into new takes on classics, then you'll probably like this book. If you also like fun and easy reads, this novel is a perfect summer beach read. And if you like novels that have a little bit of steamy romance in them, then you'll definitely dig some of the "swinging" scenes.

What did I think of the book? Well, it was pretty predictable, but if you're looking for a book that makes it easy for you to guess what is coming next and that delivers on the happy ending you're hoping for, then this is the book for you! I was intrigued by this book because the author has the same last name as me (maiden name), and I always love reading books by people with my last name. (Mary Downing Hahn was one of my favorites as a kid.)

The Lifestyle is published by Anchor and is available to purchase now. I received a free e-ARC through NetGalley.

Wow I can't believe I haven't discovered this author before now!!!! I loved this book so much. Once I started reading it I had to finish it to find out how it turned out. I couldn't stop reading it because when I had to pause all I was thinking about was when I could get back to it. I highly recommend this book to everyone who loves an amazing summer read that is so much more than that.
