I was provided an advanced copy of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
An amazing beginner's guide that serves as an incredible foray into the world of painting. As someone that has always wanted to step further into learning how to paint, I found this to be the ideal resource and would highly recommend it to others.
I really liked this book. I think it definitely leans more to the people are beginner to intermediate with their painting skills. But the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I will definitely be trying this again when i get a better to see how I have improved. All in all I did enjoy it.
Paint Every Little thing is a lovely little book on painting every day things.
The book opens with a little about the author ant their sources of inspiration before going into the lists of tools and some basic colour theory. This section is well written, and outlines the author's preferences for certain items, and why.
From then on, its all about painting the every day objects, whether they be foodstuffs, or travel inspirations or decor or the natural world. The author isn't shy about mixing mediums as required, which is a refreshing take given other books remain primarily focussed on one medium.
The paintings are given as step by step tutorials, with additional jumping off points once you've mastered the original. There is interesting use of stencilling to give the painting additional interest.
Overall, a lovely little guidebook to drawing and painting everyday objects.
~Many thanks to Netgalley for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. ~
This book was fun- I loved trying out the different exercises to try to get my creative juices flowing again. Kristine's book provides good information for even the beginner to know the difference between watercolor, gouache, and even incorporating colored pencils for texture. She provides information on different techniques to use (wet on wet, wet on dry, layering, etc) and even gives LOADS of ideas for prompts, so that when you're stuck on what to paint you can refer back to this book.
This book is cute and fun. Though for my experience level I’m not sure it was the best book. But it will most certainly be a great gift book to my family or friends who are starting to paint.
There are so many cute little things to paint. This could be a great companion book for those that journal! Adding a more diy to the page. It’s a cute book that is pretty easy to understand and follow. Just for what I enjoy and want out of watercolor it didn’t hit the spot. Though I think others will enjoy its simplicity.
I received an ebook copy of this from NetGalley in order to check it out and leave a review if I'd like to. All opinions are my own.
This is a fun book for you if you would enjoy creating paintings of everyday things like teacups, gardening tools, food, shoes, handbags, and so much more.
It starts off with color theory, descriptions of tools, paints, colored pencils, etc. that you will use to create the paintings. It then has sections of different types of little things to paint with illustrations showing the steps in creating your artwork. Many of them are made using a mix of paint and colored pencils, which I find to be different from a lot of other books comparable to this one. I enjoy a good mixed media project.
I feel that this book would be fun for a lot of artists, especially those new to painting.
This colourful book is beautifully designed. The step by step instructions are beginner friendly and easy to follow. The nine different ways and all the other illustrations are very inspiring.
A nice book on getting inspiration to paint by looking at the everyday objects, and adding a different spin to the painting and object. There are some instructions on various subjects such as Toast, Tea cups, asparagus, scooter, lipsticks, garden plants and much more. Kristine concept of "9 different ways" gives one permission to use your imagination, and by using a simple item or shape, difference can be made to enhance the object in the painting.
Its a great book for all, but especially for those who are starting out, or are finding themselves with painter block
Thanks you NetGalley and the publishers for the DRC
This book was beautifully designed. The step by step instructions are very clear and easy to follow. The nine different ways pages and all the other images are very inspiring. When reading this book you immediately want to go find you art supplies and get started.
I enjoyed reading this book, it has so much useful information for a beginner without overwhelming you with too much information.
It covers the materials and equipment that you need to get started and it gives you lots of ideas of where you can take inspiration from.
The step by step illustrations of how to build up the colours on the images is really helpful and I particularly liked the part about fashion and shoes!
Overall a good book for any budding or beginner artists out there.
My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review.
Many thanx to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this book.
What a great book for beginners through to those who may have a little artistic ability! Lovely clear instructions with photos to match! Also lots of extra ideas with each project. The author makes it all look so very simple and to this end, I believe she has a great book for both adults and children.
I have to admit, the title was a little misleading, I was looking forward to a book about painting the things, not painting pictures of the things. But once I got past that disappointment, it was bright and colorful and charming, and I'm going to recommend we purchase it.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC digital copy. I was not compensated for this review and all opinions are my own.
Based on the title, Paint Every Little Thing, I was mistakenly under the impression that this book was full of inspirationally creative ideas on how to paint "on" an assortment of items. Rather, it is a book about using an assortment of "things" of which to paint on canvas, etc.
3.5 stars out of respect for the author and the fact that Paint Every Little Thing is just not the right book for me at this time.
Loved the bold color and color scheme throughout. The artwork pops off the page and the artist's illustration style is beautiful and whimsical. The supply list is helpful, and I loved that the author's illustrated each tool. The backgrounds are also intriguing and nicely complement each piece. I hope that this author will include a section on backgrounds and color choices in her next book.
I found the organization a bit random and tutorials a bit thin. The themes are plentiful and bounce from food, kitchen waire, to gardening and makeup lending to a disorganized feel. It is more a collection of favorited items than a coehisive collection. Some spreads do not include instructions and when provided may gloss over details like perspective and shadow. This book is not so much a tutorial or teaching guide, but more an inspiration. Pretty to look at but its usage may be fleeting. Beginners may find it a challenge, but all can appreciate the art.
This was such a delightful read! I really enjoyed seeing all of the different things I could make. The instructions were informative but easy to understand. Also the pictures were so beautiful and gave a great representation on the items to make. Great read!
Ever wanted to learn how to paint a bowl of ramen noodles? Well, now you can! This book is the mos adorable painting ‘how to’, featuring everyday items from around the home, so that you can pick up your paintbrush and get going straight away. It covers colour theory, equipment, and different media, so is completely suitable for a beginner, as well as the more experienced painter. Each example starts simply, and builds up in detail, making it achievable for all. The examples given are beautifully done, wonderfully original, and a pleasure to look at.
Would definitely recommend.
you to Quarto Publishing Group – Walter Foster and Netgalley for an eARC of this book to read and review.
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
Paint Every Little Thing is a great guidebook in painting lots of different things in small scale from lipstick to couches. The start of the book goes through the usual things - materials, paints, colours etc and also has a really handy guide in how to find inspiration when painting and drawing objects. I loved the art style used in this book - it was very whimsical which I love! Each section has step by step instructions which are easy to follow and understand and I'd say this book would be great for both adults and children 10+ to use. The book obviously doesn't include as the title suggests, every thing but it does cover a large variety of items and objects for you to draw and paint.
Please also note that this book isn't about painting actual things (which I though it was from the title) - it's for using to draw and paint things not spruce up actual objects.
I really loved looking through this guide and looking at all the different types of paint and mediums that you can use to paint literally everything you own.
Paint everything by Kristine A. lombardi is a good book for beginner painters and those who want a place to start out. I enjoyed the section on tools and techniques.
