Ummmmm there are seriously some delicious recipes in here. I really liked the sauce recipes and found it interesting that they included beyond the BBQ recipes.

From French and Italian cuisine to barbecue: Matt Abdoo and Shane McBride went from Michelin star kitchens to opening their own American BBQ restaurant. With a smoker and imagination, they use the flavors from their training to elevate their dishes to a new level.

This cookbook is more of a journey through barbecuing in the United States. The authors describe the differences between regional cuisine and tricks of the trade from experts in those areas. The recipes are few, numbering at a little over 50, but there are some very tasty sauces and smoked meats for readers to try and create at home.

The Pig Beach Burger and the BBQ Buffalo Wings are good recipes, but not all that imaginative. The BBQ Lamb Gyro, Grilled Oysters, Mojo-Marinated St. Louis Ribs and Secret Spice Pecan Candied Bacon, however, are definitely elevated dishes. The Heart of Barbecue section, with rubs, seasonings, sauces, and marinades, is the star of this book. For me, barbecued meat all tastes basically the same, but it is what you rub or season it with that makes the flavor change and deepen.

Overall, the cookbook has great photographs and a decidedly upbeat vibe. I wish there were more recipes with grilling, as I do not have a smoker. Pig Beach BBQ Cookbook: Smoked, Grilled, Roasted, and Sauced would be a great gift for the person in your life that likes smoking and grilling meats.

This is a great bbq book with some unusual recipes. It’s focused on smokers and smoker recipes, my husband loves his smoker and I’m buying him this book! Lots of background information and pictures, and interesting recipes. 5 stars.

Pig Beach BBQ Cookbook - Smoked, Grilled, Roasted, and Sauced - by Matt Abdoo; Shane McBride is a veritable BBQ gold mine. I enjoyed reading about the history of barbeque and the regional variations.  Since I view BBQ and smokers as synonymous, the section about smokers was a bit skimpy and I had hoped for an entire section on types of wood. However, the recipes make up for any small disappointments with other sections.  One of my favorite things about this BBQ cookbook is the sheer number and variety of rubs and sauces. There are even coleslaw and salad dressings, as well as marinades.  I would be remiss if I did not point out that this is not your run-of-the-mill BBQ cookbook with its diverse recipe offerings such as Beef Rib Gnocchi and Brisket Ravioli. The BBQ focus is maintained throughout with even the Cheddar Cheese Drop Biscuits using smoked salt. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy and all opinions are my own.) There is truly something for everyone in this cookbook!

The Pig Beach BBQ Cookbook is a BBQ almanac covering all the regional styles as well as some of the well-loved twists on favorites from their restaurant. The full-sized photos are crisp and inviting. I will be using the gochujang buttermilk dressing for slaw from now on! If you have a backyard bbq enthusiast in your life, this book would be a great gift.

Pig Beach BBQ Cookbook is the best BBQ cookbook I have come across in a long time! The book itself is just good reading! The authors' stories and explanations of barbequing is just as entertaining as the recipes! Easy to follow instructions with each recipe makes cooking a breeze. I am determined to try every recipe listed! Beautiful graphic design and photographs make this a beautiful book to own. Congratulations to the authors!

We are a big BBQ family and we love to take advantage of smoking anything especially during the warmer months. When I first learned about this book, I got excited because of the recipes in it. The one thing that I loved about this book was how it went over the basics for smoking. This is a big thing that many don't know you should know. It also gives you tips on how to buy a smoker and what to look for when you're purchasing one. This is something that we had no idea on when we first got our first smoker. The book gives you recipes for rubs and seasonings that you may not have ever tried before. It shares recipes with you included pulled pork and one that I'm dying to try the Memphis Style Greek Seasoned Lamb Ribs (although I want just regular pork ribs). No matter what you're looking for this is the book for you if you want to get into smoking or you are into smoking food.

Pig Beach BBQ walks you through all that is barbecue, starting with history and some basics, followed by recipes and recommendations for creating and using rubs, seasonings, sauces and marinades, then delving into basic cooking techniques and recipes, and even some sweet treats and cocktails to cap it off. The font style choices were aesthetically pleasing, with the use of black and pink as the main palette. There were some great explanatory images with the how-tos that I felt were a great inclusion for beginner BBQers. Overall, a solid cookbook and one that I think any beginner to intermediate BBQer would enjoy.

BBQ, and especially smoking, is all about how you prep the meat, so this cookbook starts out with recipes for a wide variety of sauces, glazes, marinades, brines, and rubs. These recipes also contain directions for storage since a batch makes more than enough for multiple BBQ sessions. Then it’s onto the meats! I was especially drooling over all of the different rib recipes – lots of different takes on this BBQ mainstay beyond just the traditional, including island flavors and some ethnic spins. If your inner foodie wants to take it to the next level, the Beyond Barbecue section fancies things up with recipes like smoked duck lasagna or brisket ravioli.

The Pig Beach BBQ Cookbook is primarily aimed at smoking enthusiasts, but it’s not all about the smoking. There are also grilling recipes, as well as sides and snacks to go along with your meaty main course. Oh, and did I mention the desserts and cocktails? The cocktail recipes are fruity and refreshing, and the desserts are summer favorites that will be the perfect end to your backyard dining experience.

If you love to eat BBQ and cook BBQ this cookbook is a great option. I really liked that this book offers more than just recipes. There are lots of tips and hints about tools and ingredients to help elevate your BBQ game to a new level. There is a nice array of recipes included. From sauces, seasonings, rubs and marinades, to an array of meats, to sandwiches, sides and snacks to desserts and even some cocktails. I thought that this was a fun and informative book to read and the pictures attractive. I admit that I would have loved more of them though. Still, this is a rock-solid cookbook that is perfect for the grill addict or BBQ fan in your life.

This book is fantastic! I learned so much from this book, and thoroughly enjoyed it. You’ll also be starving by the time you’re done, because everything looks and sounds amazing! This would make a perfect Father’s Day gift. Definitely recommend if you like BBQ!

This has to be the most informative and interesting cookbook anyone who loves to cook will want on their bookshelf.
The information and knowledge passed on to cooks about the art of barbecuing was wonderful. They tell the story of everything about barbecue.
They have included recipes for so many things.
