Robin Lee Hatcher is one of my top  10 favorite Christian Authors of All Time!  In Ms. Hatcher's dual time book, I'll Be Seeing You tells the story of Daisy, the stereotypical younger sister growing up in the midst of World War II who would give anything to have her Sister's boyfriend.  When Daisy finally gets him, it's not at all what she thought and she is full of regret  Now pregnant, the boy next door offers to marry Daisy to save her reputation.  Through the lessons she learns, Daisy becomes closer to the Lord and strong in her relationship with Him. Fast forward to present day--Daisy starts seeing great granddaughter Brianna, going down a similar path. As Daisy starts telling her story to Brianna for a college assignment, Daisy's story started falling on deaf ears, but the seeds of wisdom are planted when Brianna finds herself in a dire situation.

I love how the dual timeline flows effortlessly in Ms. Hatcher's vibrant writing. I love that I'll Be Seeing You is soaked in Biblical wisdom and values. I highly recommend I'll Be Seeing You by Robin Lee Hatcher. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. My review is also on Goodreads.

As always, Robin has crafted a story (technically two) with characters who are more than they first appear. I loved watching them grow and change over the course of the story. I enjoyed the storyline from the past more than the one from the present.

Notes- premarital sex (not graphic), war, family tension, miscarriage

Robin Lee Hatcher did a beautiful job telling this story. I love that how she shows that we can learn from our ancestors and that the character of a person is so much more important than what’s only surface deep.

This dual timeline novel showcases the choices we make and the consequences. Present day Brianna spends time with her great grandmother Daisy as part of a school assignment. Daisy reflects on a mistake when she was younger that had far reaching consequences.
If you enjoy Christian novels, you may like this, the tone was more prevalent that I enjoy. The writing was engaging and an interesting story.

This was a gripping and heart-tugging tale of a woman's sin and redemption, and her great-granddaughter learning the story for the first time. I don't recall as much of Breanna's story line, but Daisy stood out as a delightful character, and so did the young man who loved Daisy. Nothing about this story came easy for the characters, but the arc to see them mature and grow was so well drawn.

The tale is also filled with delightful WW2 era details and atmosphere. Can you tell Daisy was my favorite character? Yeah. Definitely, despite her making choices that made me want to shake her awake! I couldn't put it down until she'd learned her lesson and found a satisfying ending.

Content: 16+ for theme of sex outside marriage and its consequences, but not shown graphically.

Plot:
* Dual timeline set during WWII and present day
* A love story
* Unfolding secrets as a young woman interviews her grandmother about the past
* Faith-based storyline

My Thoughts:

Oh what an absolutely beautiful and well-written read. This is the first book I read by Robin Lee Hatcher and surely won’t be my last. The biggest highlight for me here was the faith based elements to it that were so heartfelt. This is a story of God’s mercy and and His grace, and it was just so incredibly wonderful to follow these threads throughout the book. As a whole this story and the characters were so genuine, and it made me enjoy every minute spent with it. The main characters here truly were memorable and a delight to come alongside! A beautiful love story and so much more, I cannot recommend this book more. It was tender and heart-warming and had so much to offer by way of what makes for a fantastic historical fiction read.

Many thanks to Thomas Nelson and NetGalley for the gifted e-copy!

What a wonderful story! It’s told in two timelines: WWII and a college student interviewing her grandma who lived during the war. It’s a story full of God’s mercy and grace that is greater than all our sins. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Robin Lee Hatcher has long been a favorite author of mine, so when I see she has a new book coming out, I try to snap it up. I'll Be Seeing You is a dual time novel, featuring present day Brianna Hastings, and her great-grandmother, Daisy, whose WWII story provides a backdrop and cautionary tale for what is happening in Brianna's life, present day.

When Brianna Hastings' history professor asks his students to complete a project that looks into local history, she immediately thinks of her great-grandmother, Daisy. Her grandmother lived during World War II, so it stands to reason that she might have some stories to tell. She has no idea the can of worms she is opening, nor how her Gran's insights will affect her life today.

Daisy and her sister, Lillian, fell in love with the same fighter pilot, but when the US entered the second World War, he left both of them behind. Lillian was left disappointed because he didn't put an engagement ring on her finger but Daisy was left with a secret that could shatter her family. Can she find redemption and new appreciation for a man's character as she walks the road she's placed herself upon?

As Daisy's story unfolds, Brianna gets more involved with a new young man. Daisy's constant reminders to "look at his character" seem unwarranted, and unnecessary. She met him at church. How bad could he be? But, as the relationship progresses and Greg asks more and more of Brianna, will she see that her grandmother knows - from experience - that character trumps looks every day of the week.

This was such a hard lesson for both Daisy and Brianna to learn. Daisy's story was hard to read, because all she really did was fall in love too young. But - she knew from the outset that she was in the wrong, and her actions put her outside God's laws. I loved the many places where she was shown grace by those around her, and that those people are the ones who brought her back to her faith.

Readers who enjoy reading WWII love stories will enjoy this one. There is a strong faith element, which I appreciated. I absolutely recommend this one!

Robin Lee Hatcher is a master storyteller and I'll Be Seeing You is no different in a dual storyline between WW 2 and present day. College student Brianna learns that there is more to her grandma's life than she knew about and that that it has lessons for her.
I recommend this book for all women, but especially younger women. I feel that they can learn that those who went before them have much to offer.

A sweet and heart-warming novel about learning from mistakes and making good choices.

A modern day timeline echoes the past. WWII era and today.

What a tragic story!

WWII era Daisy and Lillian are sisters who both have a crush on the same man, Brandon Gallagher. He is much older than Daisy, so it is clearly more of an adolescent crush, but she is insanely jealous of her sister. Lillian is anticipating a marriage proposal from Brandon before he deploys, but when that never happens, she is crushed. On one unfortunate night, a life-altering decision is made that changes all their lives forever. All must live with the consequences of their choices, to include the kind, older neighbor who has taken good care of the family.

Present day Brianna has been given the assignment to interview the oldest person she knows and chooses her great-grandmother. As her story unfolds, it becomes clear that maybe the hard choices that were made back then are not much different than those that are made now.

Overall a touching story and I love the multi-generational lessons that were passed down. It’s great to see the Greatest Generation lauded and their wisdom shared to their posterity.

Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A dual timeline novel that tells a generational story of grace and love.

Brianna Hastings is working on a college assignment so she asks her grandmother to tell her about life during WWII. What unfolds is a story of two sisters, a choice that changes their lives about love, sacrifice and the power of God's grace.

A masterfully told story that is an excellent example of why Robin Lee Hatcher is one of my favorite authors, I grew up reading her books and am still reading them now! I loved the strong themes of faith and the impact of the choices that we make, as well as how Daisy's story from the past is an excellent companion to Brianna's in the modern day. I really enjoyed how the story follows 5 characters, as they grow and change over the course of story. I think that I was most surprised by Brandon, but my favorite was Todd hands down.

Overall, a compelling story of faith, heartache and God's wonderful gift of grace. My heart broke with Daisy, and it was cool to see all the wonderful things happening in her life and how she grew and learned to make choices that would bring strength to her family. Highly recommend this beautiful novel!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I loved this book. There was something about it that really reminded me The Notebook. Maybe it was the time period or the beautiful love story that was within. Either way the relationship between Daisy and her Grandmother and all the secrets and story behind grandma is wonderful. Even though the subject matter is heavy its one of those books that you just smile about when you read the last page and want to start all over again.

If you're a fan of Robin Lee Hatcher, you won't want to miss her latest story. This split-time novel tells the story of Daisy Abbott, a teenager in 1941, and Brianna Hastings, her great-granddaughter.

Daisy has loved dashing Brandan for years, but he only has eyes for her sister. Brandan is training to be a pilot, but what if America decides to enter the war that's raging in Europe? Would that take him away from both Daisy and Lillian?

Brianna has never liked history, but her professor's assignment has her interviewing her great-grandmother to learn about her youth. As Daisy tells her story of love, loss, bad decisions, and redemption, Brianna is living out her own story. Can she avoid the mistakes that her ancestor made before her?

I really enjoyed this story. It's gentle but gripping. There's a wonderful faith message. I'd recommend it for everyone who loves WWII and split-time stories.

I received my copy of the book from the publisher. All thoughts in this review are my own.

I'll Be Seeing You by Robin Lee Hatcher is a story which follows two timeliness simultaneously, the 1940s and current period, and two women's lives - Daisy and Brianna; in a nutshell, it can be perceived as a coming-of-age story but it's not only that. It also deals with the concepts of finding one's connection with God and holding on to one's faith in times of hardship.

The story begins with Brianna getting a project from her History professor to talk to any old people in their family and find out how life was for them in their youth. Brianna opts to talk with her 92 year old great- grandmother Daisy. Talking about her youth, prompts Daisy to think about her life during the Second World War and also the mistakes she had made then.

Daisy had been having a crush on her sister Lillian 's boyfriend Brendan, since she has been 14 years old and she had always hoped that Brendan will start noticing her. During 1942, the entry of USA into the 2nd World War becomes the catalyst for a number of events that brings about important changes in the relationships of Brendan, Lillian and Daisy. And Daisy is forced to see herself for what she really is and also the other people in her life.

Daisy's reminiscing of her past mistakes is also brought on by Brianna's interest in an attractive boy Greg, she has just met in her church and something about the way she thinks reminds Daisy of herself and her sister. Both of their stories are told simultaneously and through these stories, the author conveys how similar certain things are even though the times are different.

The author Robin Lee Hatcher is an extremely talented writer. I am not a big fan of stories told in the WW2 period; particularly those that describe with hardships and struggles. I also don't really favor stories which are interspersed too much with religious quotes. This book, in spite of containing all these things, managed to capture my attention and got me invested in the stories of these ordinary people faced with extraordinary circumstances.

I liked the way the author used Daisy's life and Brianna's life as a foil to show us how we ought to learn from the past. Whatever the period, human beings and their emotions remain the same; this is captured beautifully through these women's lives. The importance of forgiving oneself and looking beyond the surface are other concepts explored through this wonderful story.

I was pulled into these women's lives from the first page and just couldn't stop myself from reading one chapter after another. It was an extremely compelling read with characters that are very real and relatable. Their struggles and foibles are so very common and real. It was a most satisfying read that has made me this author one of my favorites. I can't wait to read the next book of her's.

You must surely check this book out if you are into books which delve into the various facets of human nature and the multitude dimensions of human relationships.

I’ll Be Seeing You
Written by: Robin Lee Hatcher
This book has a dual timeline, which is not something I’d usually choose. It is set in the 1940’s and present day surrounding the lives of a great-grandmother and her great-granddaughter along with the people in their lives. Some points in the book you travel back in time to experience Daisy’s life. You also experience the present day life of Daisy’s great-granddaughter, Brianna. Lives that can almost be lived in parallel.
From the beginning, I’d say through about chapter 12, it was slow going. I’m so glad I stuck with it though. The storyline is wonderful. So many struggles we all face are addressed. Heartache, triumph, betrayal, disobedience, lost love, death and so much more. I connected very much with this book.
I love that there is very little in graphic nature shared even though that was needed to be revealed at some point for the storyline. It is exposed yet covered well by the author.
I am very, very happy with the sweet ending also. Great job Ms. Hatcher!

Robin Lee Hatcher is such a talented storyteller. I've enjoyed all her books. Her writing style and wonderfully creative characters keep me engaged and the spiritual thread ties everything together nicely. Great dual time period story.

Dual timeline novels are always a little hit and miss for me. I find they really have to be done well or else I find myself confused or uninterested in one of the timelines. However, when I see Robin Lee Hatcher's name on a book, my expectations go up. From books I have read from her in the past, I know that she does these dual timelines beautifully--- weaving the stories across generations beautifully and drawing me into both the past and present. I'll Be Seeing You is absolutely no exception.

Stories set in WWII are always among favorites for me, so that certainly helped my enjoyment of this one... but more importantly, I love how the stories were woven together, with beautifully written characters who drew me into their lives. This had some great messages of faith, trusting God and forgiveness, but I also felt like it was a really good reminder that there is something to be learned for those generations before us... something that Robin Lee Hatcher seems to do so very well.

If you enjoy a good inspirational story, this is one to check out.

This was a great story with a gorgeous cover. The remorse directly after sin was so realistic and naturally woven into the story. That made it feel very engaging and as if it could have been about any person in my community. I loved how complex the plot was. There were just enough threads and subplots to keep my ADD mind fully engaged and busy trying to sort everything out along with the characters.

Some important themes in this story were broken relationships, poor choices, remorse, compounding one’s problems, realistic mindsets, hope, new beginnings, and second chances. These aspects all played well together, fully showcasing a beautiful story of redemption.

Some plot points were predictable and felt overly common in the unwed-pregnancy trope. I would love to see this trope with more unpredictability in the future. Shake things up and give me something fresh, please.

Lillian was the character I struggled with the most, as she was manipulative, selfish, and cruel.

I absolutely loved the “unseen guy” romances in this book. Those were written beautifully.

Content: replacement profanity, alcohol, drunkenness, premarital sex, underage smoking, tobacco, unwed pregnancy, expletive, misquoted Bible verse (“pride goeth before a fall” should actually be “pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall,” according to Proverbs 16:18 KJV)
