The cover and blurb had grasped my attention, but it didn't last too long. There are quite a few problems with this book.

- It's all about telling and not showing. Both the characters seem to be in their head a lot of the time. After a point, I found myself sighing and rolling my eyes. I wish the writing style was better. Everything that could've made good flashbacks were all said in monologues. WHY?!

- I didn't feel the chemistry between the two. It felt forced and just lust. He was either ogling at her body and her "pussy" kept clenching at his words. Eikh.

- Some of the scenes made no sense to me. Like how was a character moving from point A to point B?

In general, I do enjoy enemy to lovers trope. I just wish this worked for me, but it didn't. Thank you Netgalley and the publishers. I am sorry for the review.

An enemies to lovers story that I could not put down.
From the get-go, we learn that Poppy and Charlie are NOT friends. From their teenage years to their late twenties, these two have been at each others throats. These two came off as somewhat immature for their age (as they threw names at each other from their teen years) but as the story unfolded, so did Poppy and Charlie.
The little truths come out we see how well these two connect.
I loved the banter and had many good laughs during this book.

This was a fun and quick read! Poppy and Chuck are an entertaining enemies to loves couple that are a long time in the making. Chuck is a rule follower who is full of hilarious statements, my favorite being "Friends? What the hell? That's the meanest thing she's ever called me." Poppy on the other hand is a spitfire full of sass but a heart of gold. This book had plenty of laughs and you get to see the characters grow as the book progresses.

Overall, this was a fun and light romantic comedy read! Thank you to Netgalley and Dianna Roman for the ARC of A Fair Warning!

I started reading this book with the intention of just reading for a few minutes before bed but was immediately sucked in and read almost the entire book in one sitting. I absolutely loved it.

Charlie and Poppy both have fun personalities and there’s a lot hidden behind the facade they each put on. The book did a great job of breaking that down for each of them and had some fun banter along the way. It’s your typical enemies to lovers romcom.

Thank you to netgalley, the author, and publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. I would definitely read other stories by this author in the future.

Fair Warning is a very interesting book, kudos to the author Poppy and Charlie are one of my favorite fictional characters they were written like they were real, raw and honest. I devoured this book in less than two days that is including my working hours where I was supposed to be working not reading. Anyway, I like Poppy she was one those heroines that do not apologize for being herself and Charlie was so sweet and caring that I fall in love with him.
Thanks to NetGalley for the free copy of Fair Warning.

"Home is where the hate is"

Poppy and Charlie have been enemies since childhood, however there is an attraction between them that has remained unexplored. After Poppy goes through a divorce Chuck thinks he may finally have a chance to get Poppy to change her mind about him.

A fair warning was an easy read and a simple friends to enemies romance. There was no scenes that skimped on the hilarious nature of the story and the banter between the two main characters was great. The story has some slow points, but stick it out. It is definitely worth the read!

Thank you to the author and netgalley for allowing me a chance to read this arc.

Overall this book was a good, spicy, friends to enemies romance. I liked Poppy and Charlie a lot. I did find their supporting cast a little confusing- a lot of names starting with P’s and T’s it was hard to keep everyone straight.

But there were some pretty hilarious scenes, I did a lot of laughing while reading. The banter between Poppy and Chuck was great. A good, quick, spicy read.

I can’t wait to read the rest of the Green Valley series, looks like there will be quite a few more books, with some fairy tale retelling, which I love.

Tropes hit: small town romance, second chances, enemies to lovers.

Thank you @netgalley for the ARC copy of this book.

I really like the premise of this story you have enemies to lovers which means banter and chemistry. These guys have a history stemming back from when they were kids. They've had a while to build up their tension before they work it out.
It's good that this was done as a dual pov, not sure it would have worked as well without. I certainly wouldn't have understood why chuck wants to be with poppy if I hadn't been in his head. She's pretty aggressive in her hate for chuck and to start I wasn't really feeling her character. She was too mean and too judgemental almost bordering a bully in my opinion. However as her walls break down you see at the core of her she isn't horrible, she still doesn't take anyone's rubbish but she's not a bully. Poppy is just trying to protect herself and is actually pretty lost and hurting. Chuck was the saving grace he has his faults for sure but he was very sweet, patient funny and he was observant and saw through the facade. Without this I wouldn't know how they could of worked anything out.

Now a few scenarios need to be taken with a pinch of salt but overall it is good and a pretty easy read.

Thank you, Net Galley, for the ARC.
I enjoyed this, immersive small-town nemesis to lovers story. Very Cute, easy to read and follow the story.
What attracted me first was the cover. Poppy is sassy badass. Love the bantering between her and Chuck who is Deputy Sheriff.
MC’s are from two different sides of town. With apparent differences of opinions of each other. But has loved her all his life.
Will recommend if you are looking for a feel good HEA.

This is a classic cheesy tale of a love hate romance. A fair warning was an easy read without any explosive or complex story lines but a sweet ending.

Fun, light, tale that makes you laugh out loud at times. Good choice for a book club read.

Poppy is a townie and Chuck is a river rat who grew up in the same town. Chuck has been playing pranks on Poppy and teasing her since they were kids. What Poppy doesn't know is that Chuck is secretly in love with her and now that she is divorced, he is hoping that he can finally have his chance. Throughout this book, many misadventures and antics occur in Poppy's bar and through Chuck's job as a deputy and these two start moving from enemies to lovers. I always enjoy the books that are written from both of the main characters' perspectives. Throughout this book, however, I feel like I always know where Chuck stands with Poppy and with Poppy, I don't feel as though I really saw the growth in their relationship. It just happened. I could have used a bit more look into what made this relationship work from her side. Either way, I enjoyed the book.

Thanks NetGalley for my advanced copy!

This was a wonderful novel. I could not put it down and was laughing often. I loved that they were kissing early in the novel, often RomCom’s wait until 60-80% for a kiss, so this kept my interest quickly. I enjoyed the writing style and descriptions not being overly drawn out. It was to the point and kept the fast pace. I really enjoyed the characters, even if I share zero in common with Poppy, I still loved her.

If you love books where “he falls first” this is SPOT ON. If you love banter, small town rivals, or spicy storylines THIS IS FOR YOU. I cannot wait for this to become available in March to share with others. Available March 8, 2022. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC and Dianna Roman for writing.

The first part of this gripped me, but I felt pretty let down in the final third. It was hilarious, and I honestly laughed out loud, but I really didn't connect with the characters and their romance. I understood that it was supposed to be a bit silly, so I took most things with a pinch of salt - hillbillies, poppycock, etc. However, there were quite a few things I didn't like:
The internal monologue of Poppy was slightly concerning, particularly the constant misogyny and perception of being female... the easy usage of the word "whore”, too.
I was a bit lost by the very confusing usage of hyphenated words??? Most were unnecessary, and they weren't consistent.
The characters were inconsistent, Poppy's internal thoughts gave me whiplash, and the kung fu fighting scene felt so out of place.
When I read a rom-com, especially enemies-to-lovers, I prefer a bit more angst.
I didn't honestly believe they both loved each other from childhood.
Not a huge deal, but the weird phrases for anatomy really put me off the sex scenes…

Overall, it is great for a very light-hearted read that will make you laugh. Usually, I gravitate towards the FMC, so it was refreshing that I prefered the MFC.

I love a good enemies to lovers trope. The story will give you some warm and fuzzies so be sure to read in the winter. I surely hope there will be more books because I am looking forward to seeing more in the story. Poppy and Chuck have been at it for years and now it looks like those years were a slow burn for what was to come.

The cover initially drew me to this book, as did the promise of a fresh enemies to lovers story.

What I didn’t love
- the reasoning behind the enemies part of the story. Teasing from childhood resulting in a feud into their adult lives didn’t seem strong enough for me.
- Poppy’s character. I didn’t love some of her internal monologue and opinions on being feminine - she was a bit too judgemental for me.

What I did love
- Chuck’s character
- small town romance
- second change trope

Overall 3/5 stars.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

This was a DNF for me. The author laid bare all of the juicy stuff from the first chapter which didn't hold my interest. I want to work for my story and the intentions of the characters. Make me work for the information--grab my attention, make me care! This was just too much too soon for my tastes.

This was a hilarious book that truly made me laugh out loud! I loved the main characters and I really enjoyed the banter between the main characters as well as the dynamic between the entire friend group. It was an incredible story and I would recommend it for anyone looking to read a simple and fun buddy read with a friend or family member. This one will be such a fun time for you and your family.

Poppy is just the girl that you want on your side. She evolves in this book. Three peppers of spice!

This was a classica enemies to lovers, but one from childhood!

Where Poppy HATES chuck, Chuck is in love with the poor girl, in fact I think infatuated is the right wording for it. It has some funny banter, and it is definitely an easy read for the romance lovers out there.

If you want something fun and light hearted - then go for it!
