When I think of historical romance, I think of books just like this one, that gives all the feels and satisfies every romance junkies' heart. Not being a big fan of the genre, Boyd is one of the few exceptions. This is a perfect books to snuggle up with on any day.

Seduced in Secret is such a fun book! Charlotte is a woman who knows who she is and how to handle a parasol. Winston on the other hand could use a bit more backbone in my opinion though, but Charlotte makes up for it. If you love a strong female lead then this is a wonderful book for you!

Charlotte Waters had thoughtless and selfish parents who were only interested in their own research. Charlotte just wanted to marry and stay in England. Charlotte is a brave and resourceful woman. Winston, Earl of Hurlston, had a story sense of duty and was betrothed to Elizabeth from when he was an infant. He wouldn’t have chosen Elizabeth for his bride but abided by his father’s wishes. Charlotte and Winston come into contact with each on several occasions and develop feelings for each other but Winston is already betrothed. There are other issues in the story including discovering who is behind the attacks on Winston. I did enjoy this story although there were some things that happened towards the end that didn’t make sense to me, but inspite of that, it had a satisfying ending. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I felt like it wasn’t super regency-y, like i never would have guessed that this was a historical romance if it wasn’t for the surroundings, none of the interactions felt authentically historical. But other than that i enjoyed the characters, and the story was a fun fast paced read (3.2)

The author has soon become a favorite of mine, such I mark every upcoming release on a calendar to be sure to not miss them.
So what an entertaining and fun read this book is.
Charlotte is a wallflower who hides well her game, she needs no one to take care of herself. The attack scenes with the umbrella are quite hilarious, I envisioned them in slow-motion like a Sherlock Holmes movie.
If not for her self centered parents she would not be needing to marry in hurry, she just wants to live her life in a different fashion than them.
So she is ready to lower her expectations in a potential spouse but her heart being not free, none can find favour in her eyes.
Winston is a duty man, doing what is always expected from him. Why he is caught in his present predicament. When everything pinpoints his fiancée has no care for him, and it is same for him. Why did he not look for a way out, duty should not mean misery.
Charlotte is the hero of this book, she saves him, rescues him and understands before him he is targeted. While Winston struggles with the situation, handling it not in the best fashion, hurting Charlotte, very much blind to some people close to him’s flaws.

I loved this read, it was action packed and much entertaining, and despite its number in this series, it can perfectly be read as a standalone.
It is just the end which left me a bit baffled, the agenda’s change of her parents, the last deeds of the villains before they are unmasked were puzzling. And the last scene a bit surreal.

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 kisses and foreplays scenes.

I have been granted an advance copy by the author, here is my true and unbiased opinion.

Adorably, Seduced in Secret brings together the ‘always ready’ Charlotte with an already engaged Winston. Admirably, Winston tried to remain true to his commitment to Elizabeth. There were enough clues to let you know all was not good as far as Elizabeth was concerned.

Charlotte’s parents probably should not have had a child. She truly seemed to be forgotten by them and at times, seemed lost, wishing for love. Charlotte tried to find a husband without putting her heart into it. She had already given it to Winston. And, she kept coming to his rescue, realizing before he that someone wanted him gone.

With someone definitely out to ‘get’ Winston, the story unfolded in a way that made me want to read through to the end to find out what was going on with Winston and his brother, Peter. In addition, it was interesting that Elizabeth, Winston’s intended, noticed Charlotte crying when the banns were read for Elizabeth and Winston. Elizabeth seemed kind of cold-hearted.

Altogether, I loved Winston and Charlotte’s journey to love and each other. I loved that Winston stayed true to Elizabeth although she did not. That made Winston’s love for Charlotte all the more special.

Charlotte is on a deadline, marry within three weeks or endure travelling abroad with her parents, and giving up on her dreams of home and children. Her heart belongs to Wnston but he has just announced his banns to marry Elizabeth, and someone is trying to kill him. A regency novel which has humour, intrigue and a remarkable heroine.

Wallflower Charlotte is devastated when the man she secretly longs for announces his upcoming wedding. Winston feels he must do his duty and finally marry the neighbor he has been engaged to since childhood. When someone tries several times to harm Winston, Charlotte comes to his rescue. Charlotte’s eccentric parents announce they will be leaving England soon. Charlotte is told she must either marry quickly or go with them. Winston realizes that sometimes duty is not enough. A great read - though the crux of the story was predictable, incidents and happenings were made interesting.

Winston cannot be called the alpha/ macho type but a practical human being and Charlotte coming to his rescue each time, also made very convincing. So loved them both for that!
The engaged to another part - Winston carries the "almost a married man" guilt throughout the book - so there was no 'how can he do that' - question for me (yes I was a bit worried about cheating etc. before starting this book).

Overall - a smile worthy read!
