Adorable, bungling, cute, darling, energetic, fun(ny) gharial fill the pages of this book with their misdeeds and mishaps! As we travel from A to Z, we can delight in the absurd, LOL at the humor, and nod our mom-heads (or parent or caretaker or well, anyone who knows or has dealt with mischievous little ones) at the realities of life (like Lucas lacking clothes or Samuel being sassy)!! The illustrations, while simple, are stunningly detailed in their portrayal of the antics, and I loved the pastel color palette.

Overall, a book that any one will love to sink their teeth into!!

thanks to netgalley for this e-rc. these are my honest opinions

This is an adorable alphabet book with a great twist. I really loved it and the illustrations. I will definitely be reading more of this author.

Doris' Dear Delinquents is a delightful read. Doris, the crocodile, has her mouth full, caring for her 26 cheeky babies -- one for each letter of the alphabet. They get into all kinds of trouble! My three year-old daughter and I really enjoyed this book. The illustrations are comical and fun. They sort of remind me of Edward Gorey and his style of art (obviously, not as dark). My daughter thought all the babies' hijinks were funny and wanted to read the story again and again. She also enjoyed reviewing the alphabet at the same time. Two thumbs up for this read! Many thanks to Clavis Publishing and Netgalley for the galley.

'Doris' Dear Delinquents' with story and art by Emma Ward is an alphabet book about a mother with 26 unruly children.

Doris is a gharial crocodile who is busy with her misbehaving hatchlings. In alphabetical order and full of alliteration, we learn that Avery at the goldfish, Bella bit mom and so on.

This was a fun take on the alphabet and the illustrations are great. I like the look of the gharial crocodile with the extra long snout.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Clavis Publishing and NetGalley. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

This is a very original and interesting alphabet book. Doris the gharial (crocodile) has 26 children and each one is up to no good in this book. Each child's name starts with a letter of the alphabet (in order of course) and their antics do as well. Looking at the alliterative title, you get a hint about the rest of the book. Each letter of the alphabet is illustrated by the name of a hatchling and an alliteration with either the action/verb (such as “AVERY ate the goldfish”, “COLTON clawed the carpet”) or through a quality/adjective ("Samuel was sassy"). By the time we get to Z, Doris is ready for dad to take over and give her a rest. What a fun way to learn some new vocabulary. I will admit to looking up the word gharial to find out it is the longest living member of the crocodilian family. Although very simple, the illustrations are lot of fun showing the babies in all their naughty glory. My five year old granddaughter enjoyed this story.

Thank you to NetGalley and Clavis Publishing for the opportunity to review an e-ARC of this title. I was first attracted to the illustration style, which feels nostalgic and retro while also being modern and fun. I like the idea of this being a counting and alphabet book at the same time, as you meet Doris' 26 little hatchlings all named with different starting letters of the alphabet. Very cute premise, and fine execution.

Thanks to the publishers for sharing this one. It's different from most ABC books, and I liked the illustrations. My full review appears on Weekend Notes.

Doris' Dear Delinquents is the perfect heart-warming picture book for everyone. Ward has created the cutest and sweetest story to read this year.

Doris' Dear Delinquents is a picturebook written and illustrated by Emma Ward. It was a silver medal winner of the 2020 Key Colors Illustrators Competition. Doris the gharial crocodile has her motherly hands full with twenty-six misbehaved hatchlings. Follow along on a journey through the alphabet as she tries to bring peace back into her home.

Doris' Dear Delinquents is a charming alphabet book that many adults reading along with young readers will appreciate as well. Doris is a crocodile mom just trying to get her home under control, the the personalities and expected sibling trouble with twenty six energetic hatchlings is making things hard. I could sympathize with her, and still find the situation amusing. I liked the choices for names ad adjectives to show the alphabet, with fun and quirky happenings making it all work. I thought the illustrations were fun and charming, and frankly made my day. I think will be a fun read one on one, alone for emerging readers, or in a group story time setting.

Meh. This alphabet book really didn't do it for me. I didn't care for the illustrations and the prose was so-so. As a reading specialist I was concerned about the font used. An alphabet book should be helping kiddos recognize letter and their sounds, but the font was not one I'd recommend for early readers. Far to confusing.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Clavis Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is a children's ABC book. What beautiful illustrations! Such a fun ABC book. Poor mom...26 babies...that's a lot! Very cute and fun for the adult and child. I did find some of the font hard to read. 4 stars

This is about how close I want to get to crocodiles. Doris is a mama with baby crocs all over the place, causing mischief and mayhem. You child will learn her abc's while learning the name of each of Doris little hatchlings. It is funny, delightful and engaging. A win win for your household.

A special thank you to Clavis Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

What a fantastic book! The illustrations are truly amazing. Who could create such irresistible characters out of crocodiles and make the reader feel so many emotions as they traverse the pages? Why Emma Ward a silver medal winner of the 2020 Key Colours Illustrations Competition that's who!

Poor Doris. She is a gharial crocodile who is overwhelmed by her 26 naughty, misbehaving brood. She takes charge and tries to manage and conquer the mayhem that the hatchlings create daily in their home. With 26 little active ones can she reign them all in and finally have the peace she strives for?

This is a fun book about a stressed-out mother crocodile and her dilinquent babies whose names all start with a specific letter of the alphabet. The good news is that she does accomplish her goal but you have to read the book to find out how. Trust me she needs a medal for her mothering skills. Kids will laugh along as they learn or review the 26 letters of the alphabet.

The illustrations are phenomenal. They are extremely detailed, full of action, emotion and fun. The colour pallet chosen is subtle and perfect for the tale. This is an alphabet book that kid's can sink their teeth into and I highly recommend it!

This is a cute take on the alphabet, but I wish it had more of a rhythm to it to make it more fun to read aloud. I loved the illustrations, they were adorable! The description says for readers 4+ but I think younger readers would enjoy this too.

Interesting book that my daughter enjoyed. Good for someone learning their abcs. The layout seemed a little off, maybe it's just because it was an ebook. Illustrations were nice.

This is a fun ABC book for children. Not all of the letters/baby alligators are given something interesting, but the book is very good with excellent illustrations too.

4.5/5 Stars

This is a very cute, gorgeously illustrated abecedarius narrative, and it's got just the right blend of earnestness and humor, to my mind. I did think the end was slightly abrupt, but it's still a fabulous read for little ones and those who might need to read to them.

Cute little story about a mama Crocodile and her mischievous babies all of whom have names starting with each letter of the alphabet. Beautifully illustrated, this is a book that could be one of those to be read over and over again.
