I really loved the whirlwind romance between Maggie, a home renovator on YouTube and Silas, the landscaper that she hires to work on one of her latest projects. Their connection was hot and steamy! I also really liked all the side character development. There were a bunch of secondary characters and the author did a great job giving them a lot personality. What I didn’t really enjoy was all the background info about the house that Maggie is renovating and it’s history. I thought it was interesting, but I felt that too much time was spent on that part of the plot. Other than that, another highly enjoyable book by Lucy Score!

While this may be Lucy Score's first publication with a traditional publisher, Ms. Score is no stranger to book success. 'Maggie Moves On' delivers the kind of feel good story that leaves you wanting more of this small town Idaho town and cast of characters. This book is guaranteed to take you through a wide range of emotions that end in a satisfaction. You sit back at the conclusion, smile, and then start rereading Maggie and Sy's story all over again. And lets just say steamy doesn't even start to cover what could be described as a semi-slow burn for a Lucy Score book. 10/10 would recommend and plan to reread over and over again.

Maggie Moves On is excellent!

I can't say enough good things about this small town romcom but I feel the need to start out with my love for Kevin. Any animal lover will fall immediately in love with this pooch!

Maggie is a DIY house flipper that finds herself in Kinship working on the biggest house of her career. Upon hiring contractors she comes across Silas, the landscaper. It's a bit of instalove on his part and Maggie sure can resist him...but not forever. She is someone who fixes things and moves on and Silas is determined to make her stay.

I fell for all of these characters. This town sucks them all in and no one is an outsider. The wild west mystery of the town lore is a great addition. Love when old houses have stories behind them. This story is about finding your place and all the other wise words Silas has to share. I wanted to be a part of this town while reading it and loved every moment that made me laugh and swoon. Great book!

Oh, this book! I am so sad to see it end and can easily say it’s one of my absolute favorites in this genre in a long time. It was a perfect balance of romance, family dynamics, personal growth, and small town kinship and camaraderie.

The story of Maggie, a self made YouTube house flipping celebrity, and Sy, a small town landscape will stay with me for a long time. I absolutely loved the additional family characters and the dive into the town’s (fictional) history. This was such a fun read and I’ll be over here waiting to see what this author comes up with next!

Thank you Forever and Grand Central Publishing for my gifted review copy.

This book was a whirlwind of activity multiple levels deep. I wasn’t bored for a second, and there were a few twists I genuinely didn’t see coming! Funny, cute, intriguing, and occasionally quite spicy, this is a great read for when you need a little extra drama with your romance!

Maggie Nichols has quite literally built her life around being on the move. Never in one place for long, she has turned her career of flipping houses for her extremely popular YouTube series into a way of living - constantly on the road, making dreams come true for everyone but herself.

But when the opportunity to repair and renovate a dilapidated Victorian mansion in the tiny town of Kinship, Idaho is presented to her, Maggie quickly finds a wrench thrown into all her plans.

Working closely with local businesses means working closely with shockingly charming and incredibly good-looking landscaper Silas Wright, who’s decided right off the bat that he and Maggie are meant to be more than just business partners.

With so much work to get done, and the clock ticking on Maggie making her usual swift exit, Silas is determined to show her how great it can be to grow roots in one place. And Maggie is determined to keep him from getting too close. But as the project drags on, she finds herself building more than just a dream home - she may also be building the family to fit in it.

This book was a great rom com. Maggie is a strong indeoendent woman who knows wat she wants from life. Her newest project throws her for a loop when she meets Sy. Sy is a charming, handsome landscaper who constantly pushed Maggie out of her comfort zone. The dialogue had me laughing out loud. This book was witty, charming, emotional and gave me all of the feels. I really fell for all of the characters in this book. 5 out of 5 stars for me! I was hooked from the first chapter.

Nora Roberts meets Nancy Drew in this brand new contemporary romance from Lucy Score. Whether your new to Ms Score, or have read her previous works, you will be blown away by Maggie and Sy. While giving me similar feel good vibes as Rock Bottom Girl, MMO somehow digs deeper and is even more well-rounded. Maggie is relatable and lovable. Silas is the guy we all want pursuing us relentlessly. Their chemistry was somehow explosive and comforting. And the hints of a mystery hidden within the walls of Maggie’s newest project brought me back to the days of sneaking a flashlight into my bed to finish my latest Nancy Drew mystery. This is so much more than a feel good romance you read in one sitting and promptly forget. Both her main characters evolved—and their journeys left lasting impressions on me that I’m still contemplating weeks later. Read this book. It’s super enjoyable from start to finish, and somehow sneakily makes you re-evaluate your own relationships as Maggie and Sy navigate theirs.

Lucy Score writes the best books. In-depth characters that make you want to continue reading but with some humor to keep things from getting too heavy. Maggie has to decide if she wants to risk her heart and stay or keep on with her nomadic lifestyle. A definite must read.

There’s a lot to like here - small town setting? Check. Cute animal friend? Check. Friends, family, a little mystery? All of that, but unfortunately, this one didn’t work well for me. I wasn’t able to find a connection to the characters and the story seemed very slow at times.

My thanks to Netgalley and Forever Publishing for an advanced copy of this book!

Take this review with a grain of salt because I have been in a major reading slump lately. This book has a lot of really great things-- found family, an HGTV-esque setting, some steam, small town vibes, a hilarious dog named KEVIN!!!

If you love a book where the guy falls first and HARD, then this will be right up your street. I thought the insta-love was a little aggressive to start, but I warmed up to Maggie and Silas eventually. Maggie was a super stubborn character, but as someone who is also incredibly stubborn I related to her a lot. The way Maggie slowly falls in love with the town and it's people was really sweet and I especially loved the storyline with Cody.

However, there were a few things that didn't really work for me. This book is quite long for a romance, and also has several background storylines happening that muddled plot and characters and I felt could've been trimmed. We didn't learn about some of Maggie's ~trauma~ until like 75% of the way through the book, but it was alluded to several times to the point where I thought I had missed chapters. The ending also tied up way too neatly and pat for me.

I think a lot of people will really enjoy this one, but it was maybe a case of wrong book, wrong time for me.

Maggie Moves On by Lucy Score is a small-town romantic comedy told in the third person. The story follows the relationship between Maggie, a home renovation internet TV star, and Silas, the landscaper working with her on her latest project.

Silas is infatuated with Maggie from the moment he sees her. There’s definitely insta-lust on his part, but his intentions go beyond simply getting his rocks off. I’m calling it infatuation because Silas thinks “fate” brought Maggie to his town—that she might be “the one”—and he’s genuinely interested in getting to know her. She’d have to be a horrible person to cure his infatuation, but that’s not the case—far from it! The more Silas gets to know Maggie, the more he admires and desires her as his feelings grow in substance and depth.

Maggie is attracted to Silas, but she’s not interested in a serious relationship. Her time in town is temporary. She’s there for the renovation, and plans to move on when it’s over—just like she always does. But the charming, hot landscaper and the feelings she’s having for him are complicating matters, and Maggie needs to decide what she’ll do when the project is finished. Will Silas convince her to stay? Or will Maggie move on as planned?

I enjoyed Maggie and Silas’s story, but I had a hard time choosing my rating for Maggie Moves On. It was light, fun, humorous, and a pleasant reading experience overall, but the third-person narrative kept me from connecting with the characters as much as I would have liked, keeping them at arm's length. This made it easy for me to put the book down and walk away to do other things. I usually take a day or two to read a book, but this one took five even though it was shorter than other Lucy Score books I’ve read.

Third person lends itself to rich setting descriptions and a broader view of characters' thoughts and emotions, because the author isn’t limited to telling a story through the thoughts, opinions, and knowledge of the point-of-view characters like in first-person narratives. So I understand why third person was the appropriate choice for this story. Even so, I want to FEEL when I read, and for most of the story, I didn’t feel very much. I say most, because there was a moment in chapter 46 where—oh, my heart!—I felt EVERYTHING. This moment definitely gave me 5-star feels, and is the reason Lucy Score continues to be one of my favorite authors.

I love Lucy Score and she definitely delivers with her new book! Maggie Moves On has small town romance down to a T. Quirky side characters, beautiful historic homes, a loveable dog (and kittens!), and a beautiful insta-love hero. I loved how Cat King was mentioned, especially since I just reread Mr. Fixer Upper before this book by pure coincidence! I love when stories connect and bring in characters from other books, and we already know Lucy knows how to create a dynamic world within her series (hello, my favorite Blue Moon Series!!!). 4/5 stars!

Lucy has done it again. This covers everything from the initial attraction, to that moment when your heart clenches and you fear they won't end up together, mix in a little bit of mystery and you have yourself a sit on the edge of your seat, never want to out it down, never want it to end book. And we haven't even talked about the most important part yet...Kevin! His quirky little putbull self almost took the entire show! But in all seriousness, another amazing work of art by Ms. Score. I couldn't put it down! I'll be rereading it again and waiting for the next creation to come out!

I am no stranger to Lucy Score and her library of work, it's pretty typical for me that at least one Lucy book shows up each month in my stack of books read. That being said, I liked this book quite a bit, but it wasn't my FAVORITE Lucy book. I think part of this might be because I read it shortly after her other newest release, TWNGO (Things We Never Got Over) and I absolutely ADORED that book, so that was a hard act to follow. For starters Lucy is brilliant when it comes to building an ensemble cast (i.e.. Riley Thorn books - AMAZING) and she sucks you in with little character flaws, witty banter, mega chemistry and making your own tribe. It's hands down one of the many reasons I gravitate to her books, and the laugh out loud moments are hard to beat. This story is especially relevant for today's world, as it follows a YouTube star and her home reno show and the people that help make it happen. Enter in her newest project in a small town in the hills of Idaho, enter a "hot landscaper guy" and it's on! I really enjoyed the added historical searches and the mystery that Lucy always finds a way to rope into her plot lines. There were touching tender scenes, and self realization moments that hit a little too close to home. The reason I didn't give it a full five stars, like I so often do with Lucy's books, is this one just seemed to take a little longer for me to get into. It was a slower start for me than other books, such as Rock Bottom Girl, either of the Riley Thorn books, Forever Never, or TWNGO - all of which I felt like I couldn't read fast enough and couldn't put them down. Overall though, it was a great read, fantastic characters, and a really fun story line with a few unexpected twists and turns! I am, and always will be a Lucy fan!

This book has everything I love. Small town charm. Hilarious banter. A swoony, cinnamon-roll hero who falls first. A supporting cast of family members, friends and animals. A touch of mystery. I laughed, I cried and I didn’t want it to end.

I love Lucy Score’s books but this one I had a hard time getting into. I’m not really a big fan of stories written in the 3rd person so it took me a long time to get through this. In the end, I did like it, just not as much as I hoped I would.

I read this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
In typical Lucy Score fashion, we have a well rounded romance, with extra characters that we can't help but fall in love with.
There's family, friends, issues that are decades long, regrets, cute animals, unforgettable experiences, and a whole heap of chemistry. As a reader, it's hard to put down and walk away from.
Lucy Score has done a great job of writing this novel, and I love how all the wonderful things you discover are explained and concluded.

Oh Lucy. I love "Maggie Moves On". Silas has won my heart for book boyfriend. He knew without a doubt that him and Maggie were a done deal, just took a little while longer for Maggie to catch on. The storyline is adorable and the side characters need their own book.bc they are just amazing. They are the perfect support team for Maggie. Maggie can do anything so long as she has her crew with her - including steal my heart. My first 5-star read of 2022!

WHERE IS THE ADVENTURE IN FINDING ONESELF IF ONE USES SOMEONE ELSE’S MAP?

“It’s our sign. I’ve been carrying you around with me since I was twelve years old,”

Maggie Nichols has enjoyed a good life buying, renovating and flipping houses while maintaining a popular YouTube channel documenting the progress. With her partner/ex husband Dean she purchases “The Old Campbell Place” in Kinship, Idaho. (Against Deans better judgement). What Sean doesn’t know is that Maggie first saw the house as a 12 year old while on vacation with her mother and it left a lifelong impression on her.
Silas Wright is a local landscaper that is chosen to handle all of the outside lawn restoration. From the time he sets eyes on Maggie he is convinced that she is “the one”. Maggie, however, takes some convincing as she is used to “moving on” once she completes a project. Silas pursues Maggie, who is definitely smitten but hesitant to jump into a relationship when she knows she will be moving to her next flip project.
The story flows well, wonderful character development, lots of humor and heat. Silas’ roommate, Kevin, is introduced in the beginning when Silas is admonishing him for eating an entire pound of bacon. Kevin is a therapy dog failure, a huge Pittbull that loves everyone, eventually becoming nanny to two kittens he finds at the job site.
Maggie Moves On is a true delight. The book held my interest from the opening page. I had to force myself to go slow and savor it as I know that it will be a while before Lucy’s next book will release. I don’t hesitate to recommend this to everyone, you truly will not be disappointed!
I received an advance reader copy of this book and my review is given freely and without compensation.

Thank you NetGalley for my ARC and Grand Central Publishing for making it possible.

Maggie Moves On is the first tradionally published book from author Lucy Score. The remainder of her titles having been published independently, but what ever means of publishing used, Maggie Moves On contains all the hallmarks I've come to expect from a Lucy Score book: Characters who are throughly thought out and feel real. A well executed story, containing multiple elements all interwoven into a solid plot. And ensemble cast which complements and fills out the story, both human and animal.
Maggie Moves On focuses on a home improvement YouTube star, Maggie Nichols, and her business partner Dean, who choose to restore a historical Queen Anne home in Kinship, Idaho. There Maggie meets Silas Wright, a local landscape contractor, who turns out to be her literal Mr. Right.
This simple sounding premise was anything but, and I enjoyed watching a sweet romance slowly emerge and eventually heat up. I thought it was a great read.
