I love Beth O'Leary's books.......and The No-Show didn't disappoint.
We are pulled into the stories of Miranda, Siobhan and Jane as they wait on their 'one man' Joseph Carter.
I don't want to do any spoilers but the author has written this book in such a clever way that it's full of surprises.
It makes you laugh and cry in equal parts and kept me turning the pages.
I loved it.

I first discovered Beth O’Leary last year and absolutely loved The Flat Share & The Switch. When I saw the this one was available I couldn’t resist requesting it. Turns out a few of the other ladies in the book club also enjoy her books so it quickly became our first book club read of the year.

When we first started reading this one a lot of us had very strong feelings about Joseph. What kind of person not only stands up his date but stands up three of his dates, on Valentine’s Day? Suffice to say we all had some very choice words to describe our thoughts at this point. Of the three ladies Jane held the most mystery for us, we were all desperate to know what happened in her past and why she was so closed off to everyone.

As we dived further into the story we had more and more questions. Some of us were starting to warm to Joseph a little and thought there was more to him than we first thought. Some of us were a little worried about how this story was going to turn out and us Beth O’Leary fans were slightly worried that this wouldn’t be as good as her previous books.

By week three everything had changed. In true Beth O’Leary style she had knocked out a cracking revelation that changed the whole concept of the story. We were all eager to finish this and desperate to get our much needed answers. I can’t say too much on the plot line but trust me when I say, that things are not as they seem!

For our first read of the year I think it was a great pick and one I absolutely adored. Of all the women I think Jane was my favourite, aside from being a complete bookworm I loved her story the most and how it planned out for her.

Funny, sad and so cleverly plotted, I loved this from first to last. Beth O'Leary's best book yet (now looking forward to the next one)

I read this with my book group and we were all intrigued by the story. Beth O'Leary kept us guessing right up until the final quarter. The plot centres around Joseph Carter and three women in his life - but how do they all fit in? I don't wish to give any spoilers but "The No-Show" is a fun read.

I was so pleased to be sent this via NetGalley, after previously reading and loving Beth’s other books.

The No-Show begins with 3 women waiting for their dates to arrive at 3 different times and locations on Valentine’s Day…and none of them show. Miranda, Siobhan and Jane are all left dateless, stood up and alone. And angry. With Joseph Carter. All of them. Where is he and why hasn’t he shown?

This book did not disappoint. It included more characters than Beth’s previous novels and a couple of twists in the tale that made me gasp out loud. It also made me smile and cry.

Thank you NetGalley for granting my wish for this book and to Beth for an entertaining and emotional read. Highly recommend, you will not be disappointed!

We read this as Tsundoku Squads January book, our first book club pick of 2022.

I found the book started off quite slow. I wasn’t sure how much I was enjoying it really, until it came to week 3, and boy did week 3 end on a corker!! It was an unreal place for us to end that weeks sections dn i know a few of us were eager to get onto the last part, so I think a few of us finished it quick after week 3 discussion. I know I did, and in the end I really did enjoy it.

The timelines changing in the book did confuse me a little, which doesn’t usually happen, but by the end you know where you are, what’s going on,and who is where etc. One good thing I’d like to mention about the book is that Beth has written it so well, you really don’t know where it’s gong, and it throws you once you figure it all out.

Did I tear up? Yes. Did I smile though? Yes. I’d recommend giving this one a go, and I’m looking forward to reading more of Beth’s books!

Thanks again to Quercus books and Netgalley for my e-arc.

This book was well written, twisty and realistic.

We read it as part of our book club and I really enjoyed discussing our theories as we went through.

Joseph had such a characters development and the ending was exactly what I wanted it to be.

Rating this one a 4/5.

Absolutely loved this book. It was so different to what I expected but I thoroughly enjoyed it. That last paragraph had me weeping. What a beautiful tale.

The No Show, Beth O’Leary
3.5/5

Three women. Three dates and one missing man.

Siobhan’s been looking forward to her breakfast date with Joseph but when he doesn’t show, she is stung. Meanwhile Miranda is fuming when Carter stands her up for a lunch date and Jane is devastated when Joseph Carter never shows to a planned evening date.

Another glorious, big hearted novel from O’Leary. With her trademark humour and heartfelt style The No Show is another solid outing. I had a strong inkling where this one was going from the start but it has some surprises in there to both delight and devastate. Again, every plot point you see coming just makes the pay off that little bit sweeter.

Thanks to #NetGalley and #Quercus for my copy of this one.

An absolutely lovely read. I loved all of the characters but I loved Jane the most. The ending made me cry and smile! A beautiful book with some meaning behind it

Another stunning Beth O’Leary read! At first I was trying to wrap my head around all the perspectives, but as we got further in you understood each character in their own way and appreciated their perspectives. At first you’re hating this guy for how he’s treating them all, but the twist makes you remember that everyone has their own past that they may not share!

The No-Show by Beth O’Leary
Publication date - 12th April 2022
Publisher - Quercus

Thanks to @quercus and @netgalley for the #gifted copy of the book.

‘The No-Show’ is Beth O’Leary’s fourth book is a multi-layered romance about three women who are all stood up on Valentine’s day by Joseph. First of all how has one man three women on the go and also managed to arrange three dates on valentines? One is at breakfast with Siobhan, the next in the afternoon with Miranda and finally a party in the evening with Jane. Such a cad!!! But of course with this author not is all it seems.

This is my favourite book of Beth’s after the amazing ‘The Flatshare’ as it has the depth of characters, a tightly plotted narrative full of clues if you were paying enough attention and it’s funny, heartwarming whilst being devastating at times, and creative! Probably the first time I also heard about a female tree surgeon as well - I have always been fascinated by them! As we got towards the end I just had to keep reading - it’s now 2.30am! It really is that twist that hooks you in and I just had to finish it.

I think it’s a testimony to Beth’s writing that although all the actions that were being taken by Joseph would normally result in me hating a character, she definitely manages to make him comes across as a lovely man. That had me conflicted and confused. How could this be?!

Also please can I have that gift at the end of the book?

This book was so clever. The build up of establishing Joseph Carter's character in contrast with the three different women was very well done. I was so sure I knew what was happening and then Beth O'Leary switched it up and had me bawling. This was incredibly well done and emotional. Perfect for the romance reader looking to expand their experiences, or anyone who enjoys a clever and well thought out twist.

I knew, I just knew! I had suspicions and figured it out like a mystery. Okay, I’m rambling. First things first. This is not your usual rom-com. Three women stood up by the same man on Valentine’s Day. That cheating bastard!

From the moment I started reading, I was fidgety and excited. A too good to be true love interest dating three women? And he started to grow on me while he cheated? I liked him? Really? A quarter into the story, I started to have some inklings and wanted to read on and on and on. I was so proud of myself when all of my suspicions turned out to be correct.

I want to say so much about The No-Show, but I can’t without spoiling anything. I’d love to compare it to another British romance, but I can’t either, and it would be a spoiler as well. The only thing I can say is that I’ve read all of her books. Furthermore, my lips are zipped. Okay, just let me tell you that I’m so glad rom-com authors are writing more and more different romance novels these days instead of using the same troops over and over again with some huge misunderstandings at the 70% point. A little while ago, I read Josie Silver’s One Day on the Island, an example of a not your usual rom-com. Beth O’Leary also delivers a different story about love and loss and self-acceptance.

I loved the story, how Beth O’Leary plotted it, and the outcome. I only didn’t connect to any of the three women as much as I wanted to. I did connect to Joseph, though, even if this must feel weird. I had tears in my eyes when I read the last chapters.

My first Beth O’Leary book but not the last! A funny, rom-com with a lot of heart and with,  with a surprising twist, The No-Show is a must read for any romance fans.

The No-Show follows three women, Siobhan, Miranda and Jane who all had dates with the charming Joseph Carter, and yet he doesn’t show up for any of them..

Siobhan is a thriving and confident life coach, whose casual hook-ups with Joseph doesn’t mean she isn’t pissed when he doesn’t show for their breakfast date. Miranda was looking forward to a romantic date with Carter to celebrate her new job. She’s been dating Carter for 5months, so why doesn’t he show? And quiet Jane, not being a fan of parties, asked her friend Joseph Carter to be her fake boyfriend at an engagement party, leaving her abandoned when he doesn’t show.

These women are so real and relatable they almost burst off the page. I love how O’Leary has made all three women so different from each other but with the same insecurities and expectations. A romantic story at heart, this does not mean the novel is lacking any humour or fun, but love is most certainly at the centre. You will laugh, you will cry, you will cheer. Prepare yourself for an emotional rollercoaster!

The No-Show is also brilliantly clever, twisting in a direction I never saw coming, taking my breath away. It is fresh, charming, surprising and absolutely superbly plotted. A real triumph for romance lovers!

2.5 *stars*

I definitely like Beth O'Leary writing style as I already have read 3 of her books (counting this one).

I have been wondering for a long time how this book should be appreciated.
Before you decide to read this book, remember that this book is much more different from other Beth's books. I've read The switch and The flat-share and I can say that the author has really chosen to go in a different direction with this one.

Getting to the middle of the book, I began to consider whether to continue reading this book or not. I started asking a lot of questions and one of them was - where will this story lead to in the end, because it didn't seem to be going anywhere. The only thing that told me to finish this book was the mystery part. I needed to have answers!!!
If I'm being honest I see this book as a good thriller with some changes and a few twists. I think it would be a great story overall. I haven't read a book with three perspectives before and it was interesting. I think I would prefer it if I would know Carter side of story along the way as well, I felt like I was missing a piece of a puzzle. What is so fascinating about that Joseph Carter? Why be so obsessed? What's the appeal?

Now I do know that the book is more about the affection, relationships, guilt and grief with a bit of a mystery, but I will say no more because the book comes out only in April. Let the book speak for itself.

And I stay with my gut feeling - this would be a great thriller book!
Thanks for the experience.

Wow. Wow. WOW!! This is now my absolute favourite of Beth O’Leary’s books.

Each woman is so captivating, their stories being so different from one another but each searching for love and connection. I particularly loved Siobhans character, and how raw and feisty she is. Her and Joseph’s relationship is one that will stick with me for a whole. THAT scene is so heartbreaking and tragic…I’d be lying if I said I didn’t shed a tear or two. All of the women express such honest and vulnerable emotions, it was hard not to relate to each of them in one way or another. O’Leary touches on topics of grief and mental health, but it’s done so sensitively and brilliantly, I really commend her on this element of her story writing.

What an incredible, heartwarming and gorgeous story. If I could recommend any of O’Leary’s books to read, THIS would be it. The twists and turns kept me on my toes, I really couldn’t put this book down since I started it three days ago. I can see this topping the charts in 2022!

Beth O'Leary is already an auto buy author for me, but she has completely outdone herself with The No-Show.

A story about three very different women, all stood up on Valentines Day by the same man. Each of the women were so distinct and individual that when the book ended I genuinely missed all 3 of them, and wanted them to remain part of my life.

This book was magnificent, and I devoured it in less than a day - something I already regret as I want to read it again like it's the first time! I can't fault a single line.

I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review

Meet Joseph Carter, three women Siobhan, Miranda and Jane, three dates where is Joseph Carter?

Beth O Leary books just make you happy, I was so glad I got the chance to read this one.

I really found this book so enjoyable, written In alternate narratives so you get a picture of what’s happening from each of the girls.

Again Beth creates wonderful characters and some right LOL moments.

For Beth fans like myself who wasn't in love with The Road Trip, please give this one a try you will not be disappointed.
