I really wanted to love this one and while I came away with an appreciation for the way it all came together I didn't quite feel it in my bones. I'll definitely still read more from her but I'm hoping the next one is more like The Flatshare and The Switch. Perhaps, she's growing into a different writer than the the one who wrote those two and I don't begrudge anyone any growth but she hasn't topped those two for me yet.
Really enjoyed The No-Show, i loved how it took a twist and i discovered that Joseph wasn't actually dating the three women at the one time and it was set in different years. It was a bitter sweet read. Very well written.
I really, really, *really* loved this book. I'd loved Beth O'Leary's first two books, but I wasn't so keen on The Road Trip. This book is everything that's romantic about The Flat Share and profound about The Switch, blended to make something in the similar vein but so wonderfully different. The No-Show feels like a writer at new heights of her powers, with a confidence and assurance in her storytelling. We have four characters here who we quickly grow to care deeply for, with each getting so much tender character development. It doesn't feel quite right to say this is 'more' than a Romantic comedy, as it is instead three different romantic comedies in one - covering all our favourite romcom tropes to excellent effect. Genuinely impossible to put down, and sure to induce compulsive reading, this is one to watch in 2022.
Another wonderful book by Beth O'Leary, full of heart-warming emotional highs and lows, a treat to read. Three women are all ready for their dates on Valentine's day, but he doesnt show for any of them. It soon becomes apparent to the reader that its the same man who is letting them all down, the bastard. The story follows the three different women - Siobhan, a life coach, Miranda, a tree surgeon, and Jane, a charity shop worker, as they dissect and consider their relationship, all of the time unaware of one another's existence. So what happens next, how will this terrible mess resolve itself? Read on to find out
As a fan of Beth O'Leary's previous books, which I have always enjoyed, I was really excited to read her latest release.
And whether you're a fan of her previous books or not, this is easily one of the best books that I have read in years!
When you read the blurb you expect one thing to happen, or at least I did but the twist (I won't spoil it here) literally blew my mind.
I was already such a fan of the three separate stories but seeing how they related to one another really took everything to another level.
I liked all three main women and could easily discern between the three of them.
There also wasn't a quirky character that's just quirky for the sake of being so. This was something that was slightly off-putting about Beth O'Leary's previous books. So I was incredibly happy that these three women and every character if I'm honest, felt real and authentically them.
I also adored how all encompassing the three stories were and how much character development went into every single character from the main four characters to secondary characters and even peripheral characters.
The No-Show was both heartbreaking (as someone who never cries, I could not stop myself at a pivotal point in this) and heartwarming at the same time.
All I can say is, this truly is a must-read! I simply adored this book and will be recommending it to everyone.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed Beth O'Leary's first two novels but was disappointed by her third so I was pleased to see a return to form with the gorgeous No Show. The novel focuses on three young women- Siobhan, Miranda and Jane- and their relationship with the often unreliable Joseph Carter. I loved the fact that the novel is told from different points of view and found myself really immersed in the lives of the three women. My view of Joseph changes throughout the book but I won't reveal any spoilers about this ! It's a beautifully written, romantic, funny, moving and emotional read full of empathy for the characters and an uplifting read for these challenging times. Recommended.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC.
Thank you Beth O'Leary ❤
I have loved all her previous books but with this one she took novel writing to a whole new level! I can't even describe all the feelings I have going through me right now except to say: five stars. And more.
On Valentine's Day three women - Siobhan, Jane and Miranda - are stood up. One by a man called Joseph, one by a man called Carter, and one by a Joseph Carter. Sounds predictable, right? But this book is everything but.
Make sure to put this on your to-read list next April! And thank you so much Netgalley and Quercusbooks for the chance to read this in advance!
I knew as soon as I started reading the blurb that I was going to love this book and I did. It is a heart breaking and funny read and you will go through so many other emotions reading it. the headline is three women, three dates and one man, you can kind of guess what is going to happen. We meet each other women and they like many other women think they have found the perfect man but is he all he is cracked up to be? it was nice to read about the three women's stories, I am sure their stories are relatable to a lot of women out there too. It is a story about the dating game but with a very unique twist and I just loved it. How Beth has written it, is absolutely fantastic, this is going to be a huge hit when it comes out. Readers are going to love it. I cannot wait to read Beth's next book.
Romance isn't my usual genre that I reach for immediately, but I make an exception when Beth O'Leary releases a new book. This was another well written, and funny book, that simultaneously hurt my heart, and warmed it. The book had an original and very addictive plot, and the fast pace and chapters really helped me move through the book quickly.
A longer review will be posted to my goodreads closer to the release date (28/4/22)

This was my 3rd read from @betholearyauthor and it is by far her best yet. Unfortunately I wasn’t a fan of ‘The Flatshare’ or ‘The Switch’ as they both felt predictable and I wasn’t able to connect with the characters but ‘The No Show’ feels like it has been written with a completely new writing style. This book seems to be mainly marketed as a romance, and although it does have some elements of romance here and there I’d say this is more women’s fiction or a light mystery.

Admittedly going in I was concerned about how the concept would come across on paper but this book follows 3 women, Siobhan a life-coach, Miranda a tree surgeon, and Jane a bookworm who all experience a no-show from a date on Valentine's Day, and all by the same man, Joseph.

Be prepared to feel a complete rush of all emotions reading this, you can pick up ‘The No Show’ from April 29th 2022! Have you ever been stood up on a date?
Beth Leary knocks it out of the park with this beautiful and romantic novel. The trials and tribulations of modern dating are laid bare in this book. Highly recommended!
The No Show is told from the point of view of Siobhan, Jane and Miranda, and centers around their relationship with the man who connects them all, Joseph Carter. This is an absolute delight of a book, with interesting, well-rounded characters who all have secrets they're hiding. From the start, you're waiting for things to go wrong, and they certainly do, but in a really unexpected way. I absolutely loved every page of this book, and I really recommend it.
It is Valentine 's Day and three young woman have been stood up my the same guy . We see all this women and how they interact with him .
I received this book from net galley and the publisher as an ARC. Thank you! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
