I enjoyed this book.
Aly is a fixer, it is her love language.
When she and her 2 friends decided to go on the downlow and fix women’s problems.
This all works well until it blows up in her face when a famous star wants them to fix her app developer boyfriend, who happens to be Aly’s 1st love and childhood best friend.
How is Aly supposed to fix him, when she’s still in love with him as well as thinks he’s perfect the way he is?
It all blows up, nothing is right but everything follows the path it should.
This isn’t a sappy romcom, there are no sex scenes or steamy interactions, very PG.
It is totally childhood friends to enemies to lovers troupe and we love it!
Thanks to NetGalley for the chance to read and review this title.
I always love a good British romcom and The Fixer Upper delivers. I loved the banter between characters and this was an easy feel good romance. There were a few eye roll moments but overall an entertaining read.
I love a fixer upper based romance and this book met expectations. A wonderful read that kept me hooked from start to finish. This is my first Lauren Forsythe book and I will absolutely be picking up more in the future. This was incredibly enjoyable and I highly recommend.
I think I loved the side characters more than anything LOL I loved this book and I loved the story and the characters. I need to read another book by this author.
Not only does it have a great cover, it's also such a great read! Definitely suggest it if you like to read romance! 10/10
Thank you to Putnam and NetGalley for the ARC of this novel. A book about a business trying to reduce the emotional labor of women is intriguing and I do like seeing Aly do her work. She is great at knowing what you need to hear which is the job of a good marketer. Seeing her past and how letting people hear what she really had to say was great to help heal some wounds and I did enjoy the relationship between Aly and Dylan. That Kitty Litter Princess may be my favorite side character for knowing exactly how to skew the media in her favor and does give more of an insight into the daily workings of a professional influencer. I stayed up late trying to finish this book and it did not disappoint. A very enjoyable novel. .
This was just okay. I didn’t love nor hate it. I wasn’t a bad book at all but I just didn’t feel deeply connected to any characters.
I just loved this uplifting & warm story. I really could relate to the female main character and her male lead is swoon worthy. Just made me feel good and happy. Thank you netgalley and publisher for this arc in exchange of an honest review.
This was an easy read to get caught up in. Nothing too deep or shocking going on, which is what I was looking for in the moment, so it made me happy. Aly and her two friends are in the side business of “fixing” women’s significant others by nudging them in the “right” direction in strategic/creative ways.
Then a mega rich influencer hires her to make her boyfriend more like her (care about his image), and of course it’s Aly’s best friend from childhood and first love, whom she hasn’t spoken to in years.
I really enjoyed the growth that Aly had within her business world. Men rule the world in her day job and it was infuriating to see her bust her ass while the men didn’t and still got accolades.
I also really liked Dylan’s character and he and Aly’s rekindling of their friendship. It was cute and sweet.
This was a slow burn and didn’t have much spice…which threw me off because a review on Amazon said it was a 5/5 on spice level. Have I got some book recommendations for that lady! 😆
Thank you to @netgalley and @putnambooks for the arc in exchange for my honest review!
The Fixer Upper was a welcome change in the romance world for me. Definitely light and fun, author Lauren Forsythe brings a twist on long lost love. First of all, I really came to adore the main character Aly. Aly discovers that she has a particular gift for helping other people basically “figure out life” and she turns this into a successful business. Aly is climbing every girl boss ladder until she comes face to face with her childhood crush. Given the task of helping her client to fix up Dylan, Aly’s met her match. I loved the complex moral dilemmas that Aly has to navigate and appreciate the ability to question what the definition of success actually is. The Fixer Upper is a definite success story and I’m looking forward to discussing it with friends!
A sincere thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The main character was quite annoying. Which made it kind of hard to enjoy the book. It's called boundaries set them women! The only saving grace of this book was the side character and Dylan.
The Fixer Upper wasn't a bad book, but I didn't love the main character, Aly. Or rather, I didn't love the deceit that happened throughout the book with the Fixer Upper business. Though, Aly seemed to grow as a person throughout. I just wanted her to come clean and be honest from the beginning with Dylan, her childhood best friend, and the person she was hired to "fix".
This is much more women's fiction than a romantic comedy. There is pretty much zero romance/spice. So if that's what you're looking for, skip this one. Those of you who enjoyed 'Evvie Drake Starts Over' should like this one. It's good for an easy vacation/beach read.
Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to read this book. It is always appreciated!
There are no sex scenes FYI so if you're looking for steam, this won't have it. It's pretty PG all the way around actually. That doesn't bother me but it warrants mentioning for those looking for something edgier. It also leans heavily on the miscommunication trope. A super easy read that that is enjoyable. Definition of a beach read.
I thought this was a really charming read. I loved the character development, which is a huge selling point for me. I think this would lend itself really well to the audiobook, which I will recommend to others when discussing this book, too.
The premise was very cute, and overall I really enjoyed this book!
Aly likes to fix things, doesn't matter if it is things or people, and she especially loves to fix the love lives of her exes. Whenever she breaks up with a guy, he goes on to live his best life, be it getting married to his soul mate or landing their dream job. From this comes The Fixer Upper a company designed to help women who are dating men that have issues with commitment, What Aly doesn't count on is her high school crush and former best friend, Dylan, being one of their clients.
I thought this was a really fun idea for a romance, and enjoyed the premise a lot. Ultimately Aly gets to work focusing on herself rather than everyone and everything else, which was something I loved reading about.
Along with a great cast of supporting characters, who added humor and fun to the story and this book hit all the right notes for me.
Thanks to Penguin and Putnam Publishing for providing me an ARC of this book.
I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this. I loved the concept of the fixer having to fix her first love for someone else. This made me a fan of second chance romances because I loved seeing the development between our two main characters. I do wish we got a little more of internal monologue about growth to make the ending have a stronger impact, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this. I wouldn’t be mad about a companion book because the secondary characters are a fun group and have a lot of potential.
Very cute rom-com, but not very memorable. I enjoyed it while reading but now can’t tell you a single thing about the plot or the characters. An easy read and fun, but not my favorite.
For as long as she can remember, Aly has had a way of "fixing" former boyfriends, coworkers, or friends. After the individual had been near Aly's life bubble they'd either land their dream job, had their career take off, or find their happily ever after. Aly decides to turn this talent into a business and it just so happens her work brings her back in contact with her former childhood best friend and old flame.
I adored Aly's strong female character. She is unapologetic with immense professional prowess. She also had more emotional depth and dimension, as well as emotional intelligence than other romance characters I've read.
Sincere thanks to NetGalley and G.P. Putnam's Sons for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
This was the first that I received when I got back into my reading jouney and it did not disappoint at all! When the physical copy came out I instantly had to go buy it. If fun rom-com books are you favorite make sure to give this one a try.
Thank you NetGalley for the eARC. This book was so fun. I really enjoyed it. This book kept me interested and i enjoyed the book and this genre
