I really enjoyed this book! I love a good friend dynamic in a book. And it was so funny, I was actually laughing. It did start a little slow for me at first but once it picked up I couldn't stop!
The story kicks off when Aly realizes she has unintentionally become the driving force behind her ex-partners' transformations, only for their next significant others to reap the rewards. Talk about bad luck, right? But fear not, because this is where her incredible group of friends swoop in with a genius plan. They decide to tap into Aly's talent and create a discreet yet effective service for frustrated partners in need of a little "fixing up." And boy, does Aly work some magic!
Everything seems to be going swimmingly until they meet Nicki, an influencer with sky-high expectations for her tech start-up boyfriend. Let me tell you, her list is a doozy! But hold on tight because things take an unexpected turn when Aly realizes that Nicki's boyfriend is none other than Dylan, her ex-best friend from school and also her first love... *cue dramatic music*
If you're in the mood for a delightful rom-com that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside, then "The Fixer Upper" is definitely the book for you! Lauren Forsythe's witty storytelling and relatable characters make for an entertaining and enjoyable read. So grab your favorite snack, cozy up with this book, and prepare to laugh, swoon, and maybe even shed a tear or two. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Happy reading!
I really wanted to like this one, but unfortunately I just wasn't invested and couldn't finish the book.
If you're like me, you miss the complete fun of 2000s rom coms starring Julia Roberts, Cameron Diaz, and Jennifer Lopez.
If you're like me and want to find those same feelings/plots in books, then The Fixer Upper is for you.
The Fixer Upper is filled with swoons and simple romantic gestures that just have you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next feet kicking moment. I loved the way this book had me laughing at the hijinks of the characters and the almost suspense of being paired up with someone you don't expect. This novel is a 2000s rom com meets Hallmark-ish with just the best dose of all things that make this genre so much fun.

Thank you Netgalley for this book!
It was an enjoyable rom com but unfortunately I didn't love it. I felt like the main character was trying to 'fix' too many people and change them and I overall didn't love the concept of her getting so close to her ex boyfriend while he was still dating someone. That doesn't sit well with me.
I thought the characters were overall likable, the concept of the app and the 'helping' people was great and I would love to have learned more about the social media influencer Nikki got her start and why she is the way she is.
I think I would still read another book by this author!
This book gave me major Hitch movie vibes! It was cute and quirky, but a lot of the things she said I kept hearing in Will Smith's voice! That is probably just a "me" issue though! Overall it was a cure book, and I mostly enjoyed it. Totally worth it to at least read once!
The plot for The Fixer Upper sounded promising, but the few chapters I tried fell flat. This was sadly a DNF, and after reading reviews it really seems this leaned more toward women’s fiction than I’d prefer.

I thought that this was a really cute book. I will say the characters here weren't my favorite. I found that the pace of the book was great. I wasn't really the biggest fan of the whole wanting to fix people's relationships because my parents had a bad one trope. I also didn't always agree with the characters actions. I will also say I would've liked to see more romance and steam from this book. I wasn't expecting a low steam romance ( literally only kissing in here). I also just didn't feel as invested in the romance as I would've like to be. Overall it was pretty cute and fast paced.
This was such a cute rom com! I don’t read this genre too often, but I found this one to be such a fun, good read. I loved Aly’s character as well as Dylan’s. This was a great, feel good read.
I love second-chance romances, especially with childhood friends! This was such a cute read and I really enjoyed it.
A clean romance that was also a fast read. I enjoyed the various main characters and was very invested in the storyline.
it’s giving hitch 2005 but make it a young british girl who reminded me a bit of emma woodhouse. honestly surprisingly strong exploration of the relationships and expectations between women. enjoyed it!
Aly has spent most of her life fixing messes: work, boyfriends, even dealing with the fallout from her own parents' marriage. Her friends give her the idea to start a side business: “fixing” boyfriends/husbands. The Fixer Upper - a company that will help "fix" a problem your partner has. Whether that be cleaning the house, being a better father, going for the promotion, Aly and her friends are there to do the emotional labor so you can just reap the rewards. It's fun and harmless, until a hugely popular influencer hires her company to fix her boyfriend - which also happens to be Aly’s ex best friend and first crush.
I enjoyed that this book was all about the emotional aspects of a romantic relationship. There was ZERO spice, but rather a lot of angst and pining and times where you wanted to shake the characters and yell WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS? It made for an interesting read that was a lot more about personal growth rather than the romantic chase.
I am not normally a cutesy romcom type of reader, but I really enjoyed this one! I couldn't put it down. The characters were relatable and I thought it was well written. I look forward to exploring the genre more!
This was strictly a cover made me request it and I sort of wish I didn’t. I didn’t hate it but this was suppose to be a rom-com, but it had almost no romance. I wouldn’t recommend. Thanks for my advanced copy
I liked Aly, the main character, but she also really ticked me off a lot. Lol. I wish she would’ve stuck up for herself more. However, this was a delightful novel about making mistakes and fixing things, and don’t we all wish we could do that? This was a sweet, quick read.
I loved that this was a British romcom with intriguing concepts. However, the pace was an issue as was the habitual lying of the main character. I get that it was somewhat part of her job, but it grated on me.
Overall, I enjoyed the story, but those aspects turned me a bit off.
Thank you to the publisher for the eArc. All thoughts are my own.
This book while light and easy to read, I couldn’t get past the main characters habitual lying. It made connecting with her and rooting for her extremely difficult
Aly is great at fixing things. Especially people’s relationships. When circumstances have her seeing her best friend from childhood again, she’s reminded of a kiss they shared years ago. Aly has to either expose the truth or put her feelings aside and do her job.
I loved that this was such a fast paced read! Aly’s friends were great too! I loved the Dynamic and Banter between the FMC and MC. This is a story about second chances, friends to lovers, and ends with a happily ever after.
This was a sweet short rom com that reminded me of the movie Failure to Launch. I enjoyed this book and did not want it to end. I definately recommend this fun, romance book
