This was a cute “beach read” type of story.
Some of the plot details were a bit far fetched as far as how some of the character deceived each other (and got away with it) but it was enjoyable overall!
Great as a vacation read, read it by the pool and relax!
So this book wasn't it for me. I find second chance romance books a bit hard to read through. There is always a reason why you broke up in the first. And it needs to be a good reason in getting back together. And this book wasn't it. I really didn't like the main characters actions throughout the whole book. She acted way to selfish that I don't support her.
This book is slow to start but I think it is a really cute romance book. The main character reminded me a bit of Olivia Pope but honestly I enjoy that sort of character so for me it was a plus. I do wish there had been a bit of spice, but I understand that is not for everyone. Overall I think this was a fun read!
This is a very light, *cute* read that was the perfect palate cleanser between heavy/thriller binges that I often find myself on. This is not to say that it is a mushy story lacking depth. Forsythe does a great job at developing characters and holding your interest throughout the story; all without the use of spicy sex scenes which I applaud.
I very much look forward to more reads by Lauren Forsythe!
I'm normally not a huge fan of contemporary romances that lean more towards women's fiction, but I thought this book executed it so well! I think Aly's character development was so integral to the love story and I'm really glad we got to know her and connect with her outside of the romance. This was cute and I genuinely enjoyed reading it. The concept is unique and I loved that there were more aspects to the story than just Aly and Dylan's romance.
Aly learns a tough lesson in The Fixer Upper, real relationships cannot be built on lies. After setting up a business to help men get what they want, Aly meets an old childhood friend who according to his famous girlfriend, needs to be fixed up. As Aly rekindles her friendship, she realizes that he doesn't need to change, but rather he needs to dump his girlfriend.
The story is entertaining, but was a little slow to start. Overall, I enjoyed it. Thank you Netgalley for the advanced copy.
I thought this book was good! It has been so fun seeing it in the stores. I would give this book at 3/5 though just because I felt like it was a little slow in places. There were instances where I thought the characters could have made a quicker decision. I did however, like the banter and the dialogue!
Thank you to Putnam for this ARC!
Unfortunately, this book was a miss for me. Even though straight men are the worst, I do think that hiring a PR team to “fix” your partner is extremely manipulative and unethical. I had a hard time getting past that shallow aspect of this book.
Additionally, both the characters and the plot were one-dimensional. This book is advertised as a romantic comedy but I don’t think it delivered on that promise. . This really left something to be desired. If you’re looking for a quick, cute rom com to devour in a day, please look elsewhere.
This book was a rom-com dream! The female version and perfect combination of "Good Luck Chuck" and "Hitch". The Fixer Upper is fantastic. Aly's complicated relationship with her parents and their disaster of a relationship and how she carries that with her into her life is so relatable. The second chance romance that everyone needs. I cannot recommend enough.
I loved reading this book. I got to reading it late since I was not able to log in to my account. The storyline was super cute and I loved how the characters were written.
This is a new to me author and I have to say I am looking forward to reading more by this author! I loved this book
This started off really good, it had me hooked by the first few pages. Reading about Aly, always the gf but never the wife. Learning that she has the ability to fix the men she’s been in a relationship with. From surfer bum to business man!
She’s here to fix everyone’s man! But then it became very repetitive and disappointing. It just wasn’t for me. I carried on hoping it would become better, but the pace was the same. I truly hope it’s a different experience for whoever reads it, because The Fixer Upper truly had potential.
Special thanks to NetGalley for sharing this digital copy with me in exchange for an honest review.
DNF around 28%. Really bummed but for whatever reason this one isn’t working for me! The set up of the story is pretty interesting but every time I pick it up to read, I’m just not compelled to continue. I don’t know that I love the direction it’s heading right now. This is one that I could possibly pick up again someday but when I’m in a reading slump, I definitely don’t want to bother.
A predictable romance with a guaranteed HEA. While it was a romance, it was definitely a clean romance - no spice here. It was good, but not something I would write home about.
Have you ever known someone who can give you great advice but hasn't a clue how to fix their own life when things are wrong? Aly works at a marketing company and has been making every effort she thinks necessary to get a promotion. In the meantime she breaks with her BF of 3 years and thinks back on her other relationships and with her friends figures out that all her former BFs have gone on to success after leaving the relationships with her. Aly basically fixed them so that they were able to be successful in business and life. But what about her?
Aly and her friends decide to test the theory and start a small "business" to fix relationships - Aly is the Fixer Upper. They are hired by a celebrity influencer to "fix" her boyfriend who turns out to be an old friend of Aly from high school.
Can Aly put aside her old feelings and do the job?
The book was a bit slow at the beginning IMO, and the characters need more fleshing out, but once the story started to develop it was amusing.
This was hard for me to get through. I wanted to like it but it just fell flat for me. Aly got on my nerves by the end.
This is a cute, fun, easy, clean read. The pace is steady, the plot enjoyable, the problems are relable, and the main characters are likable.
I really enjoyed how the author used their childhood issue to develop them not just as individuals but as friends. It added a solid layer of character development often lacking in a romance novel.
This book is a second-chance romance between aly and dylan and i really enjoyed seeing them reunite and fall for one another again. however, i will say that i enjoyed the other aspects of the story just as much, if not more, than the romance, which surprised me.
overall, i enjoyed this book!
Such a good book and the banter was super cute! I loved the main character Aly as a broken heart heart fixer and making her have her own amazing goals! It was well written when she started finding love again for Dylan who broke her heart in the past. Such an amazing read!
Loved this one and love a book about matchmaking. Thank you to Putnam for the gifted ARC my honest review.
