This short novella was really intense and well crafted.
The story follows a serial killer as he selects and tortures his victims. Our main group of characters will have to find out the identity of the killer before the next victim’s body is dumped in a ditch. But working against time eliminating suspects will not be such an easy task.
Personally I do feel like this book is a bit intense and might not be for everybody. If you do love true crime and stories that depict the brutality of the crimes committed by a serial killer, then you will enjoy this quick yet really gripping story.
I was hooked from the beginning and was really invested with the investigation to try and find out who was behind the horrible murders.
Perfect for: people that enjoy true crime stories with serial killers with a decent amount of violence
This one didn’t work for me at all. I ended of dnfing - it really wasn’t going anywhere and didn’t keep my attention.
This book was a bit over just OK for me, I would have liked to see the characters developed more, and less stereotypical, I also would have liked the bad guy’s dark side explored a bit more, especially the supernatural element.
All in all, this book leaves a lot of unanswered questions about the plot, and it felt rushed and unpolished.
I am a huge fan of the Unnerving's Rewind or Die series, is reminiscent of the 80s and 90s classic cheesy slasher movies.

It’s 1995. A man has moved to the town of Chester River, a man who never takes off his leather gloves, a man who seems obsessed with doing good deeds…as if assuaging a guilty conscience.
Chester River has problems: someone is kidnapping, torturing, strangling, and dumping the bodies of women and girls; they also have an inexperienced and lackluster police department leading the investigation. This leaves catching and stopping the killer up to civilians, could they possibly be up to the task? Are they enough to save the women and girls of Chester River? Perhaps, if the killer were simply a man…
I think I went into this book expecting more and the was left unfulfilled.
There were moments when this book was intriguing and the plot line had me hooked at the beginning but I think bad writing and lack of character development made this a bit of a slog for me. Along with the ending being extremely too predictable this was a bit of an anti-climax after everything the blurb promised.

KTS, kidnap, torture, strangle, refers to the protocol followed by a small town serial killer. The story focuses on Peter, a newbie to the town who always wears gloves and sets up a low cost boarding house and his tenant, Susan, a single mother with a young daughter, who becomes intent in stopping the murderer.
I really liked the supernatural elements of the book and how they were executed. My favorite character was Nico, Susan’s BFF, who works at Adults Only, which sells video tapes and more. I would happy read a sequel if Nico was the protagonist. While I sympathized with Susan’s situation, I found her unlikeable because of the way she treated her daughter. The violence done to women and children in the book and the cringeworthy actions and dialogue of a racist character were really hard to read. The large cast allowed for multiple suspects, but felt bloated and a bit unmanageable. As a point of view purist, I wasn’t a fan of the author’s fluid use of point of view. I enjoyed the scenes where Susan and Nico narrow in on the killer. For me, Nico was the shining light in KTS.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
