The plot was tense with great twists to keep you guessing right til the end. I would never have guessed who it was.

I love the strong female characters in these books and we definitely need more Amy.

I look forward to the next book.

This made me rethink going camping!
I have to start out by saying I have not had the pleasure of reading the previous books in the Detective Morgan series. I did not realize this was book 5 in a series when I requested it. With that said, I do wish I would have had more of the backstory to this series. But, I do have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed reading Find the Girl and had no issue reading is as a standalone. I will definitely pick up the previous books as I feel the need to know more about the beginning of Detective Morgan.
This was intriguing and engaging story. The authors writing style is easy to follow and flows well. So many twists and turns throughout the story! I was on the edge of my seat from the first page to the last page. I read way late into the night because I just had to know the ending. And, what a ending it is.

Find the Girl is a crime thriller and Book 5 in the Detective Morgan Brookes series, though I hadn’t read any of the previous books and it works perfectly well as a standalone.
The story starts back in time, when a twenty-year-old girl gets murdered at Forest Pines campsite. Then we fast forward to the present day when a woman goes missing from the same campsite and the police become involved in the missing person’s case. I really don’t want to give too much away, because it’s a book you want to follow as it all reveals itself.
The story gripped me from the start. At bedtime, I was tired and thought I’d just read a few pages on the Kindle. By the time I went to sleep, I’d read 31% of it and could happily have read more, if my eyes hadn’t started closing! It’s a really exciting, well-paced read which draws you into the action straight away.
Detective Constable Morgan Brookes is the main character and she is excellent, a real police officer with a heart, but every person in the story is well-described and comes to life off the pages. I loved the police team and also Brian.
This is only a short review because I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I absolutely loved the book, it’s a real page-turner and I look forward to reading more of her books.

this was a good overall detective novel loved the twist and turns of the story and the characters was a great story overall. This was a great book and I would look forward to more books by this author.

I have been a fan of the Morgan Brookes series since the second book and a fan of Helen Phifer for just a tad longer, with her Dr Beth Adams series. It is immediately engaging and fast paced from the start to finish with a rollercoaster ride of twists...some of which you would never expect! FIND THE GIRL is the fifth in this exciting series and it takes an interesting turn in two aspects...but you will have to read it to find out how.

A young woman goes missing from Forest Pines campsite in the Lake District and her best friend Sofie is quick to raise the alarm when Sara doesn't meet her as arranged. At first it is thought that she had gone for an early morning walk in the forest but when the police are called they find her tent ripped, blood on her pillow and drag marks leading to the forest. DC Morgan Brookes knows at once that something is not right. Calling in for a search team the search dog finds something no one was expecting...skeletonised remains buried deep in the heart of the forest. But the trail for Sara has gone cold.

When a forensic anthropologist called in to recover the remains, he ascertains they are between fifteen and twenty years old. But the case for finding Sara is still young and so the team begin to investigate any and all possibilities, most of which lead to dead ends. But Morgan has a gut instinct. When she receives a call from a retired DI down in Kent who claims to have had a similar case on his books, as well as a couple of others he suspected were linked, Morgan knows the skeletal remains and Sara's disappearance have to be linked. And what of the fatal bashing of an 82 year old woman some miles away? Could that too be linked?

But what kind of killer goes cold for almost two decades before he kills again? One that's been in prison maybe? And that's when Morgan gets a chill run down her spine. It can't be...can it?

Not for the first time, Morgan's past comes back to haunt her as she and her partner DS Ben Matthews race to find this cold-blooded killer before it's too late.

There isn't much more I can say without revealing spoilers because this book is riddled with them! Prepare to be shocked...because this case is like no other and Morgan will find herself in a race against time like never before...with a most unlikely ally. I will say that I thought Morgan had a death wish thinking that she is immortal after all the scrapes she has been in previously and survived. And I think Ben agreed.

FIND THE GIRL is thoroughly addictive as well as terrifying from start to finish and it kept me up until the wee hours of the morning. The suspect pool is small, even non-existent, until Morgan's instinct kicks in. I suspected one and then the other and then another was revealed before I was surprised my first suspect was right... This installment really is a thrill-ride of all thrill-rides.

The penultimate climax, I have to say, was the best. I even shed a few tears for a most unlikely character. But that ending...WOW! That was the best yet...and I hope this is not the end of this series. But it does leave one wondering where it will go from here. I do hope to read more and I do so love this series.

A great cast of characters - both likeable and unsavoury - and the relationship between Morgan and Ben. Their attraction has simmered over the course of the series...and I like their camaraderie.

Chilling and gripping to the end, FIND THE GIRL is probably the best yet of the series. Although I have enjoyed them all, this one will certainly stick out in my memory for a while yet.

Recommended for fans who love crime thrillers that are fast paced and chilling. Bring on Book 6!

(4.5) Helen Phifer takes you on a ride every single time. Morgan is so relatable as a human being. The stuff she has gone through is mind boggling. Even though these can be read as a standalone I highly recommend reading the series in order. Be with Morgan from the beginning to appreciate her strength, her intelligence and just her. I love the fact that are always little twists in this series and we get to know everyone in the teams. My biggest issue is Ben. I still am not able to see what she sees, from the beginning he came across as slovenly to me. I am not sure why. That and how can he be her boss and seem a step behind? Maybe its because Ben won't color outside the lines and Morgan will. They say opposite attracts. I did figure out who was behind, but it didn't leave be bereft because there was even twists with that. Creepy - yes, twisty - yes take this with you camping - Oh H No!!! This was my first Helen Phifer book but won't be my last. When Sara Fletcher goes missing from a Forest Pines campsite it proves that women should not go camping alone. Three other women have disappeared in the past and The Traveling Man has been blamed. He usually waits 72 hours before killing his victim so time is running short. The book is full of suspense which makes this fast-paced plot unputdownable. I guessed the killer even though there were plenty of twists. I enjoyed learning about Det. Morgan Brooks and Det. Ben Matthews' relationship and look forward to the next book in order to see what develops. Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for a copy of the ebook for an honest opinion.

Yet again Helen Phifer has come up trumps with her latest Morgan Brookes story.
I have never fancied the idea of camping, I just wouldn't feel safe with just canvas between me and the rest of world, but after this book you can be sure it is not something I will ever do. A young woman has gone missing from a local campsite and Morgan is convinced that it cannot be a coincidence that searchers stumble over the skeletal remains of another woman while combing the nearby woods. I found this book ever so slightly creepy, the sort of story that has you checking your doors are locked. I don't want to leave any spoilers so I will just say that I liked the way Morgan's backstory seemed to come full circle and feel that this will have a positive effect on her life from here on. Can't wait to find out.

A good book. If you have not read the series I recommend if you like Crime Fiction.

Find the Girl by Helen Phifer is another book in the Detective Morgan Brookes series. A girl is taken from her tent in the middle of the night and the search for her turns up another body - a body that has been there for more than 15 years. So are they linked?

This was a great thriller and detective novel. There were twists and turns, several suspects and a very unexpected ending!

Loved loved loved this book and definitely recommend!

Find the Girl is a page turner of a story. That easily kept me guessing, as DC Morgan Brookes and the team are called in to investigate when a woman disappears from Forest Pines campsite.

Yet, the discovery of skeletal remains, an escaped prisoner, a brutal murder and the appearance of a retired detective all combine to complicate what Morgan and the team hoped was just a simple missing person's enquiry.

And with fantastic procedural detail, great characters and the wonderful Lake District as a setting this was a story I genuinely couldn't put down especially as it neared it's thrilling conclusion.

And it's one I would happily recommend to others and I really hope there will be more to come from these characters in the future.

Book 5 in the Detective Morgan Brookes Series and another great read. Reads well as a stand-alone but the other books are equally good and you should consider reading them. Fast paced and for me an unputdownable read.

Briefly, when Sara goes missing from her tent on Forest Pines campsite Morgan starts a missing persons case but it soon becomes clear that she has been abducted. Following the trail into the woods they find remains of a body but no sign of Sara. When she is contacted by a retired police officer who believes Sara is the latest victim of a serial killer it seems like they may have a breakthrough. Then an old lady is found brutally murdered and they think it might be connected. Can the team find the killer before he kills again?

A great cast of characters and I love the relationship between Morgan and her work partner Ben, and the simmering attraction between the two of them. A very enjoyable read with enough red herrings to fool me until the reveal. I’m already looking forward to book 6 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the 5th book in the Det. Morgan Brookes series. When Sara a young women camping on her own disappears from a camping site leaving behind a ripped tent and blood it quickly becomes clear that this is an abduction case but no sooner have they started following the clues from the camp site they come across the remains of a buried body. Detective brooks has to find out quickly if the two cases are connected and when she finds that there are similar cases to this one she then realises that the time for finding Sara alive now has a countdown attached..........72 hours is how long the killer keeps them alive. meanwhile Morgans estranged serial killer father is on her mind since his escape from prison and since she believes that he's in the area she wonders if he's the killer she currently looking for.

Absolutely loved this book it drew me in right from the start and kept be glued to my kindle I just didn't want to put it down encase I missed something. I did have a hunch earlier on, on who the killer/abductor was and I was correct about that but even though I had a hunch it didn't take away from the story. I loved all the characters even Des, my favourites were obviously Morgan, ben and tom. I hope we get to see more of Brian in the future books , I thought he was a really good character and someone who Morgan could confide in, in the future kind of like a sounding board. It would be nice if he could even join the team as a consultant. I'm looking forward to reading the previous books in the series as well as future ones. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves police crime thrillers, you'll definitely find yourself getting pulled right into the story.

I love this series and it keeps getting better and better.
Morgan has a habit of finding trouble and this time is no exception!
A woman is snatched from her tent at a camp site in the Lake District and Morgan and the team are desparate to find her before it’s too late.
A retired DI contacts the team with information on the case and Morgan is keen to hear his thoughts as it seems this man has been killing women for many years, but has not been caught.
The final few chapters will definitely have you on the edge of your seat as more than one life is in danger.
A real nail biter of a finish.
A brilliant book that I highly recommend.

The third of them is the despicable attack on an 82 year old woman. Just what is going on? And are these three incidents connected?

Well it’s up to DC Morgan Brookes and the team to investigate. They discover similarities with Sara’s case with one in the past, where a twisted murderer kept his victims alive for 72 hours before killing them! The race is on to find Sara Fletcher before it’s too late.

Well, what can I say other than this was a really fast paced read with unbearable tension (nails bitten accordingly)! Helen Phifer also made a great job of bringing the characters vividly to life, (both good and bad) let’s just say it was completely gripping!
