All the Queen’s Men by S.J. Bennett
A special thanks to NetGalley and William Morrow for the arc of this book. I have voluntarily read and reviewed this book all thoughts and opinions are my own.
She’s back! Queen Elizabeth and her APS Rozie have teamed up yet again to solve a suspicious death at the palace‘s pool. This whole mystery begins when Queen Elizabeth realizes that a painting that used to hang outside her bedroom door isn’t there anymore. Not only has somebody been murdered, a painting has gone missing and no one is sure for how long but nasty notes are being left for members of the staff. Well the queen and her staff be able to figure out what is going on? This is the second S.J. Bennett book I have read in the series and can’t wait for the third one to come out in November!

I enjoyed this mysterious story. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites yet. This is a well written story that is full of action, mystery and murder. I enjoyed being pulled into the story by the characters. The author's writing skills are such that they brought life to the story as well as made it realistic. The characters are connectable and kept the story engaging. This is a fast paced story that kept me coming back for more. A story about a queen, a missing painting and a murder staff member. You will want to see what happens in this story. It has great growth with the plot as well as the characters. I really enjoyed this story and what the characters brought to it. I highly recommend this book.

What an absolutely delightful (and tricky) read this is! Don't worry if you missed the first book in this series that pair Queen Elizabeth and her Assistant Private Secretary (APS) Rozie to solve crimes in palaces- you'll be fine with it as a standalone (but I admit those who read the first one will appreciate this more). The Queen is upset to discover that a favorite painting (and you won't know why til the end) which has been missing for years is now in the hands of the Navy and she wants to know why so she sends Rozie off to get answers. Then Sir Simon, the private secretary, finds the body of a housekeeper dead in a big lake of blood by the swimming pool. And there are poison pen letters! Rozie finds herself exploring the Royal art collection, perfidy in the household staff, and more. Mystery aside (and it's a good one with tentacles), this shines because of the characters. Rozie- she's aces- but fans of the Crown will be able to hear Elizabeth and Phillip's voices in the dialogue. I found myself doing a bit of research on a few artists. Thanks to the publisher for the ARC. It's set in 2016 so there's room for additions to the series. I very much enjoyed this- the mystery made me think and the whole thing made me smile.

I wasn't aware this was part of a series, but that's not the book's fault.

Queen Elizabeth is back on the case investigating a death, missing art and some threatening letters. How are they all related? It all comes together nicely.

The "Queens Men" solve the case and no one knows she was involved. I think I would like it better if she was out in front being the solver. But maybe that's something that's addressed in the first book.

I was so excited to read SJ Bennett's sequel to last year's The Windsor Knot and it did not disappoint. Queen Elizabeth II and her trusty APS solving crimes on the down low? 100% yes. I'm in for as long as these books continue to be written.

I love how Bennett connects the fictional world she has created with actually historical knowledge of the royal family. It makes the reading even more fun. I thought the story had so many creative layers and Rozie (APS) is still SO cool. I think we see a bit more depth to her character in this sequel and I'm excited to see how she continues to grow throughout the series.

If you are a fan of the royal family and mysteries, absolutely read this book (but read The Windsor Knot first)!

4 Art Mystery Stars

I quite enjoyed the second book in this series and learning a bit more about Rozie, Assistant Private Secretary. This time Rozie has been tasked with figuring out what happened to a painting that used to hang outside the Queen’s bedroom. She’s sure she saw it at a recent exhibit, and she wants it back!

Along the way, there are some tragic accidents and poison-pen letters keep turning up. Are the two things related? Are these more than accidents? What secrets has Rozie been stirring up? Things are quite tense in the household staff as a refurbishment campaign is coming up.

I enjoyed learning more about the royal art collection and thinking about the work that goes into keeping track of everything. And how tempting it might be to have some small items disappear through the years. This was a fun mystery to solve and I love this series, very British indeed!

How is a missing painting connected to the death of a staff member? A painting that wasn’t all that well liked, but very important to the Queen. A very enjoyable read! The writing kept me engaged throughout. And with the Queen, herself, investigating with her Assistant Private Secretary, Rozie Oshodi, the mystery will be solved in quick fashion. Twists and turns throughout. Looking forward to the next book from this author.
Thanks to Net Galley, Harper Collins and Scene of the Crime for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I loved this book. So well written and the author really knows the ins and outs of life in the palace. Typical British sense of humor throughout the book.

I am not usually a fan of cozy mysteries, but I love anything to do with the royal family and this book was a delight. Despite the premise, this book was a well-thought out art heist mystery with a satisfactory ending. I will definitely go back and read the first book in the series (although All the Queen's Men can be read as a stand alone).

I read All the Queen's Men as part of a giveaway from Scene of the Crime. Charming characters and this book developed their personalities further from the first book in the series. The pacing was good as the action unfolded gradually and realistically over a period of weeks and months, Excellent sense of time and place with vivid descriptions that make the reader feel like a fly on the wall of the settings. The expository scene was a bit long; it may have been good to spread out the conclusions a bit more gradually through the book. Overall a very good continuation of the series.

I can't get enough of The Queen solving mysteries without all but one person knowing! Her Assistant Personal Secretary, Rozie, is the one who knows about it and helps her gather the clues that they somehow make sure Inspector David Strong gets without knowing it came from them.

This adventure starts out with Sir Simon, The Queen's Private Secretary, finding a body by the pool. It appears to be an accident but as The Queen and Rozie look into it, they realize it might have been murder!

In addition, The Queen is trying to find out what happened to her favorite painting "Brittania" and how it ended up as part of an exhibition.

A terrific cast of characters bring these two storylines together for a satisfying conclusion. I cannot wait for the next one!

Thank you S.J. Bennett, @BookClubGirls and NetGalley for the advanced readers copy. I highly recommend All The Queen's Men!

The premise of this series is just plain fun. The Queen as a detective who is astute, caring and five steps ahead of everyone else? Sign me up! I also appreciate the interweaving of real life events (this one includes a reference to the US election) which lends another level of credibility to the plot. Not sure how many murders can happen on Royal properties, but keep them coming! Loved it

I enjoyed this book very much. Queen Elizabeth is once again solving crimes from behind the scenes assisted by her APS Rozie. The book is delightful to read and moves along at a good pace. The Queen discovers a painting that she has missed is hanging at the Royal Navy Base and has Rozie start to investigate how it ended up there. I read the first book, The Windsor Knot, and enjoyed it very much. Eagerly awaiting the next one in this series.

I adored The Windsor Knot last year, which was the first in the Her Majesty the Queen Investigates series. All the Queen’s Men is book two in the series. It’s the summer of 2016 and one of the Queen’s housekeepers is found dead from a cut to the ankle by the pool at Buckingham Palace. While it's deemed an accident, the Queen thinks there may be more to it. She also has her Assistant Private Secretary, Rozie Oshodi, who helps her investigate mysteries in the palace such as, why did a painting that used to hang outside her bedroom turned up at a maritime museum in Portsmouth? Why are members of the household receiving mysterious threatening letters?

I enjoyed the mystery and its conclusion. I love how the Queen is the mastermind amateur sleuth and has to put the clues in order to the actual investigators to figure out. Her characterization is wonderful. I love the bits of humor and a look into behind the scenes at the palace. I also really love the character of Rozie. She’s got guts and the smarts to help the Queen out as needed. I enjoyed that current events for 2016 were also interwoven into the story. There were also hints of the Queen solving crimes as a youth. I would love prequels with a young crime solving Queen.

Overall, All the Queen’s Men is a very enjoyable cozy mystery. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

I received this book as an advanced reader copy from NetGalley..

I read the first book in this series, and now this one. Both of them were interesting, and well written but just did not pull me into the story.

In this book Sir Simon finds a woman's body at the Buckingham Palace pool. It was decided to be an accident, but the Queen thought otherwise. She asks Inspector Strong to look into the death. She also has someone look into a painting that seems to be missing from her collection.

So, it does become involved as to what happened and there are a few twists in the plot. Generally a good story that brings you into the life of the Queen and palace life.

The second book in this series doesn't disappoint. Queen Elizabeth quietly solves the crime with the help of her assistant personal secretary and scatters enough clues for the men who are officially in charge to figure it out and take the credit.

The puzzle is interesting but the real star of this series is the portrayal of the queen as a benign old lady on the surface and steely, smart, and witty at her core. The descriptions of life above and below stairs at the palace are hugely entertaining.

Highly recommended for escapist entertainment.

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. A women was found dead at the palace. The queen felt it was her job to figure out why. I enjoyed this book.

The first mystery that jumped out at me about this book was, well, they changed the title from A Three Dog Problem: The Queen Investigate a Murder at Buckingham Palace to All The Queen’s Men.

Actually the second title is more fitting since there are three top men in the Queen’s household who are in charge of supervising just about everything and who manage to rise to the top as the heroes who solved the murders with Scotland Yard’s help. Well, we know better. The Queen and her trusty right hand Rozie in reality had to leave clues and hints for Her Majesty’s top men to follow and finally discover not only who dun-it but more or less why.

.Now back to the name change. The original release of the ebook was by an English publisher and the ebook copy I received was by Harper Collins so I can only assume the US publisher preferred a different title. Doesn’t really matter when the book is just such a pleasure to read and unquestionably kept me guessing all the way to the end, which is how a mystery should be. This was a lovely sequel to The Windsor Knot which I had previously read and enjoyed .I have fallen in love with these books and I am very happy to know that the third book in this series in the works

Thank you to Scene of the Crime, William Morrow, Harper/Collins Publishers and the author SJ Bennett.

I had some trouble getting into this book, maybe because it was second in a series and I didn't read the first one. It was interesting to learn about the Queen and some of the inner workings and also the politics. The mystery was'nt my favorite type but I am sure others will enjoy it

Second book just as charming as the first. Well written characters, good back stories, but the same concerns with centering a black character in an exceedingly white situation and written by white author.

Read in advance thanks to Netgalley.
