I get so excited when Katie's series come out and I have been waiting for this one! Finally we get King and Aurora's book and you will not be disappointed. Aurora is a phoenix and King is wolf Alpha of New Orleans. We have caught both in the previous books. Aurora is a great heroine and alpha. She is caring and kind. She leads like a true alpha mate. King has been in love with Aurora and doesn't think its right to claim her. King treats her with nothing but respect and understanding through the book. You go on a journey from new threats, surprise kids (can't give this away!), trips to far away places, and surprise family! Can't give to much away or it would be the whole story and Katie tells it so well. This is a great book in the series. It is romantic, fun, and some many new people and future stories. I would definitely recommend continuing this series so many characters to learn about it and grow with!

Ancient Vendetta by Katie Reus
Ancients Rising series #4. Post apocalyptic paranormal shifter romance. Best read as park of the series.
King is the alpha of the New Orleans territory after the dragons exposed paranormal existence and scorched the earth. He manages construction rebuilding, shifters, vampires and humans as well as his own pack, plus reestablishing farming communities for food distribution. He used witches to bring the area above sea level and created a school system that has a practical curriculum. If he can just shift Aurora from friend to mate, he would be content.
An ancient evil threatens King and his territory.

Intense and gripping. Slow burn sexy for two couples plus a dozen different character stories from prior books and a hint of who may be pivotal in the future.
King and Aurora are both strong leaders. That they let down their guard a bit with each other, makes their relationship that much richer.
This series has been engulfing and absorbing. Plus dragon shifters!

A slow burn that ignites into a fiery crescendo. Aurora's past has left her hesitant and unsure of her own emotions, but she knows that King is, and will be more than he is now. But can her thoughts become reality when danger strikes close to home? Will the ancient enemy resurface to success or will the pack overcome the deadly evil?

Ancient Vendetta is a steamy paranormal romance in a series but is easy enough to read as a stand-alone. After the dragons destroyed the world, the humans and shifters that are left try to find a semblance of order to survive. The story has multiple romances in the works, the main one involving King, the Alpha of New Orleans. King’s life is chaotic but his rock is his best friend, Aurora. Aurora is a phoenix who was held hostage and abused. King’s wolf wants Aurora as his mate and Aurora wants King but the abuse has broken her to the point she’s afraid to try. As their territory comes under attack, King and Aurora face the truth about their relationship and their pasts. Steamy and action packed, King and Aurora have a friends to lovers HEA that will leave the heart pounding and a silly grin on your face. My voluntary unbiased review is based upon a review copy from NetGalley.

Four books in, and I’m still getting blindsided by everything that’s happening in New Orleans after ‘the fall’. Just when you think things are going smoothly there’s more drama thrown into the mix. This time it’s our territory alpha, shapeshifter wolf, King, who gets to exact revenge (again) on his childhood tormentor, vampire Lucius. This time he doesn’t have his mother’s support, but the support of the kind, gentle and loving Phoenix, Aurora. What a power couple these two could be, if they could just admit their feelings, even without giving in to their feelings their friendship is an unbreakable bond of love and trust. Whilst battling the evil Lucius the supernaturals of New Orleans are tested to their limits. No one more so than King, who discovers some surprising facts about his past along the way. Lots of action, a slow burn romance, and a perfect little dragon - Hunter is so adorable (as he has been throughout the series). Catching up with the supernaturals of New Orleans has been a blast - quite literally. I can’t get enough of them. Even though this can definitely be read as a standalone, a better understanding of the Ancients Rising world can be gained from reading the previous books in the series. A series which I’m addicted to. I love it. I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

It is finally time for King and Aurora's book!

King is the new alpha wolf of NOLA and he has his hands full with the melting pot of shifters and enemies. He is strong, loyal, fair, protective, and is preparing for a war that they assume is coming at some point.

Aurora is a rare phoenix just getting her life back after being held captive for a year. She is smart, kind, creative, and brave. Despite still dealing with the after-effects of her trauma, she jumps in whenever needed and has become a leader and liaison. And King is sure he wants her to rule beside him because he is already very attached to her. And she has feelings for him too even though she also has insecurities. But they have been acting as friends and avoiding it for quite a while, but it is getting harder to ignore.

And now they are facing a formidable foe who has his sights on revenge against King, but all of their lives and very existence could be at stake. It might take all of their allies with special skills to battle this opponent, but they will not go down without a fight.

This is a story of two strong, intelligent, and resilient warriors, and love, loyalty, and sacrifice. It is full of tension, action, and has several romantic threads brewing. King and Aurora will be put to the test, but the seriousness of the situation also brings awareness of what they really want and need.

This brings back so many of the previous supernatural characters and seems to couple some more up. It also brings in some new characters. There are some surprises and twists too. I really enjoy revisiting this rich world with so many different types of supes that develop strong bonds and relationships. I am looking forward to more in this world.

I feel like I have been waiting for King and Aurora's story for a long time. It has definitely been a slow burn. There's a lot in this book that I didn't see coming and made me gasp in surprise. Faithful readers of this series already love the characters and will enjoy watching the relationships endure and strengthen. It could be read alone but to fully enjoy this book, it would be helpful and enjoyable to read the series!

I’m not sure where to begin this review as there is so much happening and so many characters involved. King is a wolf shifter and the alpha of his pack. His duty is to protect everyone in New Orleans, whether supernatural or human and especially Aurora, who he wants for his mate. There is his drangonling pet, Hunter, vampires, dragons, various shifters and witches attempting to coexist. Aurora is a shifter with glorious wings and her rare Phoenix blood. She is attracted to King and enjoys his protection, but fears that after being kidnapped she is no longer what King needs as his mate. King had thought his nemesis Lucius was dead and entombed in a cave, but he escapes and is plotting his revenge, revenge against King. When the two meet in the final battle, who will survive? Another fascinating visit to this paranormal world. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

I've been excited for King and Aurora's story and it was worth the wait! There are a couple of interesting pairings that happen and oh boy, the steam! There's suspense as things are rebuilding and the new normal is setting in while an old foe is determined to destroy. There were new characters that I look forward to more of. This world keeps expanding and I am completely drawn in and invested!

This is the fourth book in this wonderful series and we have had hints of King and Aurora's story in the earlier ones. King is the new alpha of the New Orleans pack and a very young alpha at that but he is determined to keep everyone safe Aurora as a rare phoenix has been kept prisoner for a year having her magical blood drained but now she is safe she feels a pull to King and thinks he may be aher mate but she is unsure of herself with all the scars her captivity has caused on her soul. When danger threatens King will have to make sure everyone is safe and in the process we learn just what trauma he suffered and how strong he really is Can these two realise that they are stronger together You will have to read to see

For a year, Aurora was held prisoner and drained of her Phoenix blood. She’s slowly coming back into her self. Phoenix are very rare and their blood holds great powers. King is the alpha of the New Orleans territory and a wolf shifter. He is slowly getting his territory up and running. Aurora is one of his best friends and thinks she’s his mate but is afraid to act because of all she went through when held prisoner. Now a new threat has descended and King will do whatever it takes to keep his people safe.

This is one of my favorite books. Two people who were both traumatized who are attracted to each other. Suspense. Action. And some sexual situations.

Ms. Reus has done it again. We are back in New Orleans with King and the groups. An old foe is back as well as new characters. In between King and Aurora's romance, we also have Cas finding his mate and some other surprised along the way.

The book is full of action, steam, family and love. Can't wait for the next installment.

Ancient Vendetta us another great addition to this sexy dragon based series. Katie is a go to author for me when I need a good paranormal romance. She writes her men with alpha tendencies and definitely some swoon worthy loving. Her heroines are always strong and characters I truly enjoy reading about.

Will her fears keep her from opening her heart to love …

From the first book in this series the hints about Aurora and King kept me on edge, so once the release date was announced I marked it on my book to read calendar, there was no way I would let it pass.
And while their romance had three books to move forward, Aurora is the one to still hold back, struggling from her year of emprisonnement and the scars it has imprinted in her soul. Yet unconsciously she feels more and more pressing pull.
King was the enigma in this series, a rather young alpha, with secrets and a dark past. But luckily the author by bringing him under the limelight finally shed light on who is truly King. And like Aurora, he survived traumatic events, rose up stronger and more determined to do the right thing. He is a protector in the soul, a being who shields, defends and passes others’ needs before his own.

I just loved this story, it is at the image of their relationship, on the length a slow burn romance. As while Aurora is unsure to be ready for a connection beyond friendship, King does no push forward, he gives her the lead, letting her set the pace.
This story is not a straight line even if the background plot is common to everyone, we follow the blooming of Aurora and King’s love but of other couples too, with the introduction of new characters and other realms.
An intense and action packed gratifying and pleasurable read.

Thank to NetGalley and the Publisher for granting my request for an ARC of this book. The review below is purely my own opinion.

I was so excited to finally read King and Aurora's love story. Their romance has been building for a while now and this book didn't disappoint! I love how Aurora has come into her own. And I love how King, contrary to his instincts, patiently waited for her. We get lots of action in this story too! I couldn't put my Kindle down. I'm very happy with King and Aurora's book!

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this amazing book

this has to be the most exciting series ever about survival and supernatural beings helping the human race and each other survive

the human race had never known about the supernatural world until one day that all changed and then they were no longer the top of the chain, their lives were never going to be the same again, but luckily for them there were supernatural who would take care of them and try to bring some order to the chaos

this is king and aurora story, king is in charge of the new orleans sector and he is a fair and just leader, a very powerful and strong leader is also a wolf when he shift

aurora is still recovering from her ordeal after being held captive for over a year, who wanted and used her blood for the power it gave the kidnapper...aurora is a phoenix and guards herself well

they are destined to rule as alphas but an ancient enemy is hunting king and will take away all that king owns and rules killing all

oh my goodness me this is a book that you will not be able to put down and will lose sleep over, its so amazingly good that any book you read after whatever genre will suffer badly as it wont be able to compare with how well this one reads and pulls you in

cant wait to get back to this world again...even if i have to re-read the series from book one again

I was luckily approved for an ARC of Katie’s 4th book in her Ancient’s Rising Series. I have been waiting for King and Aurora’s story pretty much since book one, after she was rescued from her imprisonment, so I was SO pumped when I got the note telling me I was going to get my hands on this early.

These two, gosh they have had a lot thrown at them. And Katie does a really great job showcasing the realities of the stress and pressure King is under as The Alpha of New Orleans. She also touches on how Aurora is slowly working through her own PTSD from being imprisoned, and how the friendship between the two (although it is heating up to more) has remained solid. I was really nice to see how Aurora is branching out into Kings territory, and loved that she was so fiercely protective of King's pack.

Things are slowly rebuilding, and the threats are seemingly never ending. We bounce between a few POVs: Lucius (the baddie), Aurora, King, as well as Casimir (from book 3) and Jo, which kept the story moving quickly, but left me selfishly wanting ALL the page time with our two mains (I'm greedy). Fans of earlier books will love the little updates and cameo’s on our past hero’s and their mates.

Lots of reveals and insights on King’s backstory, which I’m assuming has to play into future books, and it was really REALLY fascinating to see the Fae realm. Only wish we got to spend more time there, not in peril.

Overall, it’s a great addition to this series and fans of Aurora and King will not be disappointed in how these two (against literally ALL THE ODDS) finally find their way to each other.

I absolutely loved getting King and Auroras story! I went back and did a series reread and it made this story even more anticipated. I don’t want to ruin the arc the story takes, but let me say it’s fast paced and full of action. Quite a lot happens in this story, lots of potential storylines are started here too and I’m incredibly excited to see where the author takes us from here.

For series lovers, this is an absolute must read!! If you haven’t had a chance to start, go back to the beginning you will not be disappointed.

A big thank you to NetGalley and KR Press, LLC for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This book is part of a series, and while it can be read as a stand alone, I personally think it would be better to read them in order. Mainly, because there are soooo many names to remember. I think the backstory would help solidify the people. I believe that this is the 4th book. This book is action packed. There are a couple of romances. Cas and Jo , and the main one is King and Aurora. King and Aurora are super interesting people with great charisma and chemistry. New friends, old enemies, are all included. I felt bad for King as he just couldn't seem to catch a break. One drama or emergency after another. Great read. I think most paranormal romance readers would enjoy, I would recommend. 4 stars
