Princess of Shadows tells her tale of a young princess who becomes a sovereign. I like how this fantasy is set in a medieval world. The main character is also very likable. She grows from a naive princess to a mature ruler. Therefore, I recommend this for fans of Between Two Fires, Highland Queen, and The Norse Queen!

Aeryn Stonebreaker’s saga winds up and outward like a rollercoaster ride for readers who enjoy Arthurian lore,biblical scope, nuanced personal quandaries, and organically inclusive casts of characters. Briskly paced narrative, evocative details of place, time, and circumstances plus crises of conscience and faith are only a few of the features that make Princess of Shadows epic. Fans of Sarah J. Maas, Jennifer Estep, Rena Barrow and similar authors should devour this compelling tale and hunger for more.

I really enjoyed the plot of this book. I thought the political intrigue was unique. I also like the representation included in the characters- having a female MC interested in both male and female partners is refreshing. I thought the author did a great job having the MC examine their actions and open to criticism. One thing that I struggled with was the mixing of real mythological names into the characters and beliefs in this world. I also would've liked a little more world building as it really interested me and I wanted to know more about it. Overall, I enjoyed this book.

Very readable part-biography part-fantasy adventure story of a girl's rise to heading up her kingdom. Lots of good sympathetic characters - although Alexander is pretty ruthless at killing them off just as they're starting to grow on you. It reminded me of Philippa Gregory's historical novels - albeit in a totally fictitious setting.

I absolutely loved this book. The world building is brilliant. Aeryn is an amazing character, and the character development is just perfection. The landscapes, the adventures, even the side characters are great. I have nothing bad to say. I love it.
