Cute and quick read! The characters were loveable and the setting pulls you in from the very beginning. I only wish I would have read the previous books.
This was so funny, I really enjoyed Vacations Like This, within the first chapters I was HOOKED! I haven't read any of the previous books in this series but I love that it could be read as a stand alone, I definitely pan to read more of the series! I loved Kimber and Mack, they ere so fun and I loved this plot!
This was a quick, easy to follow book, that had likeable characters & dual POV (which is my jam!) But I felt that this had so much more potential, and I was like with a bit of a meh feeling. There wasn't anything really exciting that gripped my attention, and I felt that some things were just kind of thrown in to add a little drama here and there.
I did REALLY like Mack's character, and his love of helping his family and friends was perfect! He was a great character that made me smile, and Kimber's personality kept me on my toes also! I enjoyed getting to know both of them, and I thought they balanced each other out really well.
The description of this book really caught my attention, and I was looking forward to more of an enemies to lovers kind of story, but I felt like there wasn't any enemies part. I still enjoyed the forced proximity and roommates to lovers aspect (because I am a sucker for ALL tropes lol), but was a little thrown off. I also didn't realize until I started it that it was the fourth book in a series. But I was happy to see you can read it as a standalone, though now I am interested in seeing what the other three books are about.
Overall, this was enjoyable to read, but it wasn't as gripping as I wanted it to be. If you're looking for an easy read, fluffy, closed door romance, then this could possibly work for you! This book in OUT NOW!
This was my very first book by Carina Taylor...but by no means the last! I loved it! Funny, romantic, silly at times...I loved Kimber and Mack and the author's style of writing!
Kimber and Mack end up sharing a cabin accidentally (or was it?)! And the sparks fly! I loved Kimber's sense of humor and Mack is just a sweetie! Kimber's there to write an expose on a new resort coming to town and, wouldn't you know it, Mack is the surveyor! One tiny problem...he doesn't tell Kimber what his job is and when she finds out...watch out! She is not a happy camper!
Mack spends a lot of time on his phone taking care of his family. That doesn't leave him a whole lot of time to take care of himself and things he wants to do. So Kimber hides his phone from him and sends out a group text to those family members about how much they are depending on Mack. None of them really realized how much they were depending on him until she says something and they come to the conclusion that maybe they can be a little more independent.
Mack realizes Kimber is behind his family's change of heart and he loves her all the more for it. The end is sweet and romantic. I loved this book so much! Now I'm going back to read books 1 through 3!
If you've never read a book by Carina Taylor, this series, to me, seems like a good place to start. You'll love it!
This was my first time reading anything from this author. I'm a huge fan of RomCom book and this was a very cute story. It had me smiling and laughing out loud a few times. This one totally had that slow burn build up. I really wished we got more in the Epilogue but over all I really enjoyed reading this one. Thank you so much for allowing me a read the arc of this book. I will be recommending it to my fellow book lovers.
It was alright. I felt like the writing was a bit juvenile and it would have been much better if emotions and feelings were showed to us instead of told to us.
This story was fun and entertaining. It is described as enemies to lovers but I didn't get that vibe. It was cute and I enjoyed the forced proximity.
A cute, fun read where a double booking takes an unexpected turn for both Mack & Kimber. From an almost 911 call to the kiss that started something they both didn't know how to follow and one of the funniest stranger-danger encounters.
I received an advanced copy of this book from Netgalley for my honest opinion.
This novel is a standalone within a series that is connected through characters. I hadn't read any of the other books in this series, and still thoroughly enjoyed this closed door romantic comedy.
Kimber is a reporter for her small town newspaper, and a mistake has her eagerly accepting a contract job investigating a resort being built in a small Colorado town.
When she arrives there she learns that the cabin she was to stay in was. double booked. And not just with anyone. But with Mack Boone who is a part of the family her family has been friends with for years.
They agree to share the cabin and she soon learns why he is there. And the reason puts them on opposite sides of a line. But the more she investigates the resort and the more time she spends with Mack...the more she wonder what she's really fighting against and what she's fighting for. She realizes that may she can take a chance on love, and it will end well.
Thank you NetGalley for an arc of this novel.
"How could a girl resist him? Good looking, kind, protective, and fun to be around. He's the killer combination."
Vacations Like This is a funny and sweet romantic comedy set in a small snowy Colorado town. Due to a mix-up, Louisiana locals Kimber and Mack are both booked into the same cabin but decide to be friendly and share the space. Things get complicated though when Kimber realises that Mack, a surveyor, is in town working on the new resort... and she's there to write an opinion piece against it.
Vacations Like This is just fun to read. Kimber is an awkward yet sassy heroine who will have you laughing from the first page. Meanwhile, Mack is a total cinnamon roll hero with a heart of gold. In fact, some would say he's too nice and doesn't know how to say no to his large but demanding extended family. I loved his character growth though and the heartwarming way Kimber helped him.
The pair has great chemistry and I loved the sexual tension and little pranks they played on each other when they reached the "enemies to lovers" stage. However, Mack's sweetness always shown through.
So, if you're looking for a cosy closed-door winter romance, which has elements of lots of different tropes (forced proximity, friends to lovers and enemies to lovers) and a fun cast of supporting characters, I definitely recommend checking out Vacations Like This.
"His groan rumbled through my soul and he tightened the hand on my waist. So this is what it was like to have a firework go off in your heart."
Thank you to the author and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for this honest review.
I enjoyed this book! At first I felt like the romance was a bit rushed, but I ended up totally falling for the characters. This book is not only romantic, but funny and heartfelt with a great ending! If you're looking for an easy-to-read, cute, rom-com, this is your book!
Vacations like This by Carina Taylor was hilarious from the start. This book had me laughing out loud on many occasions. The book switches back and forth between both main characters, Kimber and Mack, and reading their points of view had me rooting for them immediately. I could easily relate to Kimber’s intuitive nature. My heart fell in love with Mack’s caring nature. I read this book in one sitting; I could NOT put it down! This may be the typical/predictable rom-com but it definitely had be craving a nice vacation in a cabin in the woods with a sexy surveyor…
Favourite quote: “Nothing sexier than a man who drink straight black coffee.”
Carina Taylor's Vacations Like This was such a fun read! I've read all of the other books in the A Love Like This series too and love the Boone family!
After Kylie and Page's books, I was really excited to read Mack's story. Like the rest of the series, this book was hilarious. I really enjoyed Mack and Kimber's banter and their relationship was adorable. I love a good forced proximity trope, so I was a sucker for this one too!
The book was slow-burn and closed-door romance, so it was a sweet and chill read. I definitely recommend it! Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC!

A cozy, feel-good romcom! Perfect for curling up near the fire and enjoying a winter day.
Carina Taylor’s books are the very first ones I devoured when I first got KU in 2020. She is the queen of this specific genere and I’ve been eager for this book since finishing the other three.
It’s part of a series but it’s not necessary to read them to enjoy this one.
One thing about this author’s book are that you always remember how they made you feel. Even after nearly two years of pandemic induced binge reading, I always remember laughing out loud and equally swooning over the first two books in the series.
I enjoyed being ‘dropped’ in the middle of this book and being immediately hooked. Mack and Kimber are immediately interested in each other, after getting over the whole chip burglar fiasco, but find that despite their forced proximity, there are still obstacles in their way.
It’s a perfect cozy winter read full of spark and all the feels.
The end author note said, “I hope that it brought a goofy smile to your face along with an awkwardly loud laugh.” It definitely did.
Mack may be my favorite hero from the series. He has a hero complex and Kimber is just what he needs. They compliment each other so well and help each other overcome their personal hurdles. Loved seeing a sensitive main male protagonist filling a role typically attributed to women.
A sweet spot is we get to catch up with other characters!
It’s a perfect cozy winter read full of spark and all the feels. A must-read! If you only read one in the series, make it this one.

this was a very cute, fun vacation read set in a cabin with all the tropes one could love. there's forced proximity thanks to a scheduling mix-up, banter between enemies - though they never become true enemies through the tail. there's hilarity than ensues in a small town setting. it's everything one can ask for.
what i really enjoyed was the lack of an inciting incident that led the two apart. instead, there was a realization that each had something to tackle before they could commit to one another, which i appreciate more than anything. even though it felt like one small secret could have been used to break them apart, it was never used as such.
this was a closed door romance, which was a small bummer considering there were some very heated moments that i would have loved seeing explored on the page, but that didn't stop me from loving the comedic moments between the characters and the story in its entirety!
TROPES:
- Forced Proximity
- Roommates to lovers
- Small town romance
- Clean romance
- instant attraction to rivals to lovers
Triggers:
- Loss of a family member
Vacations like This was the perfect small town romance I needed to end this year. It was funny and sweet and I teared up a little bit. Kimber was strong-headed and a bit immature if I can say. I some points I thought she could be a Gen Z Karen. I learned to like her because even though she had her moments, she was still kind-hearted and wanted what was best for others.
If there was a walking green flag, its name would be Mack Boone. Mack is the definition of a good man. Protective, polite, respectful, funny, good-looking, gentle and self-less, he's always there for everyone. He has a hero/protective complex. He's ready to do whatever is needed to help others even if they would be able to do it themselves. He has difficulties saying no which makes it easy for others to take advantage of him. *Golden retriever energy* Men like Mack Boone are rare to find, I wonder if they can even exist, but if they do, I'd like to find my own, one day.
Hear me out! When I requested this one on Netgalley I wasn’t aware it was part of a series! As soon as I got approved and found out I did some research to see if I could read it as a standalone and it turned out I could so, that’s what I did. Little did I know that as soon as I finished it, I was going to run to the kindle store to get books 1, 2 and 3…yes, it was THAT good for me!
Not only did Mack and Kimber have great chemistry, their banter was hilarious, the setting was perfect for this time of year and it left me with a smile plastered on my face.
I loved the internal monologues and the quirkiness of the characters. It was a feel good story with lots of heart and it turned out to be my last read of 2021.
If you’re looking for a light, cute and funny book to make you smile, check this one out!
Thank you to the author and NetGalley for an eARC of this book in exchange of an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
I really wanted to love this book, but it ended up just being okay for me. It was a lighthearted, easy romance read, that I read fairly quickly. I appreciated how quickly the story began, there was no drawn out introduction to the characters or their stories. I really enjoyed Mack's character, and thought that he and Kimber had some really great chemistry throughout the book.
I found the synopsis of this book to be slightly misleading as it paints the two mc's as enemies, which is far from the truth. They had lots of playful banter and sassy moments together, but it never came across that they genuinely disliked each other.
I also was not very invested in the main plot of this story where Kimber is in this small town to investigate a resort that is being built there. I unfortunately found myself uninterested in Kimber's story most of the time, and at times found her to be immature.
Overall it was a cute romance, and a really quick and easy book to read!
Full disclosure: I went into this a weary reader. It was a matter of fulfilling an ARC commitment after having read a few things I didn’t love. Within the first chapter, I was SO glad that I had done so. The writing style was enjoyable from the get-go and I especially liked that the plot started right away. I know that sounds silly, but there are so many books that spend the beginning going into backstory and take a long time to pick up.
Without giving up too much, I will say that I loved that the characters had to figure out their own issues independently without the whole “you complete me and loving you magically makes everything perfect” nonsense that is sometimes present in other romance novels. Also, it should tell you how much I was enjoying the book that I was 85% in when I realized it was not 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 but closer to 🔥. Even low steam, the book kept me hooked.
This is actually not the first book in this series (although it is a standalone) but I liked it so much that I’m planning to go back and read more from the author. Overall, would definitely recommend this as a super cute, feel-good read.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
I am struggling with this review because I wanted to like this book but just couldn't connect with it. Mack was great but I struggled with rooting for or liking Kimber. At first she was great - fun, feisty and not so closed off to Mack and the possibility of him. But then it just went south when she accused him of lying to her and demonizing him in her quest to rescue the town she never stepped foot in previously from big 'bad money.' She felt too childish although she did redeem herself at the end as she tried to help Mack get some boundaries with his friends and family. I'm glad to see other positive reviews and hoping it is just that I didn't click with the humor or characters.
