My new favorite astrology book! I LOVE it.
This book is designed to please any person interested in astrology. So, it doesn't matter if you're new or a pro. Everything is explained in a way that is easy to understand. You don't necessarily need to read every page. If you're just curious about your birth chart, you can jump directly into the most relevant information for you. But if you truly love astrology, then it's definitely a pleasure to read front-to-back and learn more about all signs and placements. The graphic work is just amazing and also very helpful.
Totally recommend it!
I have loved the Sanctuary app for a while now because of its digestible content and I’m so glad they came out with a book to give beginners and advanced users alike more detail on how to get into astrology beyond that surface sun sign! While audio is available, I would highly recommend it as a companion to the kindle or physical copy. It’s necessary! I will be referring back to this one frequently. Read this to learn more about yourself, especially if you think your horoscope or sun sign doesn’t match you. I find this all so fascinating.
So I absolutely LOVE Sanctuary Astrology already on Instagram. I live for their daily posts. I was really excited for them to publish a book that was well rounded and a great starting place for someone to get involved in their astrology! This book was super informative, and I did spend most of my time reading and learning about my sign (Sagittarius) since that is where my focus is, But it is nice to learn about other signs and how you can interact with them.
And of course the graphics are stunning as always and super eye catching!
3 Stars (I received an e-arc from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review)
This book can work in conjunction with a downloadable app, which I did get and enter in my information. Primarily just to get information to see my birth chart, this is why I picked up this e-book. I found out my rising and moon signs and looked more into how that effects me. The first half of the book I fully read, the other half I skimmed over until I found my signs in my birth chart. I don’t know much about astrology and all that stuff, but I think this is a good intro into the subject.
Thank you to NetGalley for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Sanctuary brings their signature illustrations and info graphics to this book which is fun to view.
I would think this book is better for a hard copy so you can flip through it easier.
It's a quick read if you're going to read through it.
At first, I thought this would be a GREAT reference guide for astrology. The signs and planets are written in a way that's not difficult to understand. However, I was bummed there weren't snippets of each sign in each house. (I may have understood this wrong but I thought there would be these house snippets from something that was written earlier in the book.) I know a full reading couldn't be possible, but something about like "your 5th House is in Gemini means this." It would have set it apart from other astrology books since they rarely include that extra stuff.
At this point in my life, the only thing I believe in astrology and I have zero shame about it (very Scorpio of me). This was the perfect book for anyone getting into astrology, it describes all of the basics to understand yourself and those closest to you!
Thank you to Netgalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for this arc ebook in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I've always had some interest in astrology but only occasionally read something here and there and mostly about my own sign or the signs of people I knew. After reading Written in the Stars I was deeply intrigued and wanted to know more. This book is just what I needed. It's really interesting and thorough. The layout is also really cute which is a nice extra. Definitely something to read if you are interested in astrology or just a bit curious.
What’s Your Sign? is a really great overview of the massively complex world of astrology! Love the way everything is broken down and organized, and if you’re familiar with their social media the graphics will feel familiar and make the info easy to understand. There’s sooo much to astrology that I often have a hard time keeping it all straight in my head, so this will continue to be a great, easy to use reference book for when I’m reading charts for friends and family.
The most complete and enjoyable astrology book I've ever read. The illustrations are simply charming and beautiful to look at. If you're new to astrology and want to find out more about it, this is the best way to start. It not only has complete information, as it explains the basics very well. Rating: 5/5 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced copy in exchange for my honest review. This was a good book for readers that are interested in astrology. It is very detailed and also discusses charts and rising signs. Would recommend!
‘What’s My Sign?’ Is a great introductory read into personal Astrology. It lays out all the foundational knowledge required when you start to explore your birth chart. There are also lots of easy-to-read charts and pictures explaining the basics such as Houses, Planets, the correlating astrological signs and the attributes belonging to each one. Looking for a more in-depth read? You may need to look elsewhere – but this is an easy read, especially for someone just starting out. Thank you to NetGalley for providing this digital ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I thought it was very informative.
A great foundational study in astrology, an easy read, and a resource you can refer back to time and time again!
Overall: 3.8
The beautiful illustrations kept my interest throughout. The information is all accurate to what is currently acceptable by those that believe in it. There are lots of people that use astrology for fun or use it as part of various spirituality belief systems and either way I think this would fit those needs, as it is well researched. The book is well paced in the sense that it can be read straight through or you can bounce around and everything makes sense. The style/voice really wasn't for me. I'm probably just about the target demographic as a 25-year-old witch, but I found the attempt at being cool and hip just not really landing. However, somebody else might find it really conversational and accessible to read.
Overall I found this to be an enjoyable and beautiful reference book for my astrology needs.
If you enjoy Sanctuary Astrology’s Instagram content and/or are mildly interested in astrology but don’t know where to start, this book is for you. This book begins with the basics of a birth chart and slowly explains each concept, so you don’t need to have any prior knowledge of astrology topics. At a high level, this books introduces the meanings behind planets and their movements, the Placidus house system, and the 12 astrological signs. Even if you are not a total beginner, this book might still be a handy reference book to have. I knew some very basic things about astrology already, and I still found this to be a clear and informative resource.
I liked that the book acknowledges the existence of free will in the context of astrological interpretations and predictions, which I appreciated. The book analogized a birth chart alone as being similar to an electronic device’s default factory settings. It also shared a bit about the relationship between astrology and astronomy, which I didn’t know before, and also it mentioned that Queen Elizabeth I had her own personal astrologer (!). I like the style (e.g., fonts, colors, tone/voice) of Sanctuary Astrology’s Instagram content, so I thought the same style choices used in the book made it visually nice as well.
There were a couple minor reasons I personally didn’t give this book five stars. It might have irked me if I had purchased a copy of this book to find that I can see a bunch of its content (mainly graphics) for free on Instagram. However, the book mostly just uses these as visual aids to accompany more in-depth descriptions, whereas the graphics appear on Instagram with little to no context in the captions. I can understand the convenience of reusing graphics they had already made and expanding upon the content in the book. I also felt some of the sections—mainly the planetary transits and movements section—were too light on details, but I chalked that up to those being considered more intermediate astrology topics, and this book seems primarily aimed towards beginners.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and am considering buying my own hard copy when it comes out January 25, 2022. Thank you to the publisher for providing a free early copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I've always been interested in astrology since I was very young, but I just recently began the deep dive into full charts. I admit that I did come into this book with some prior knowledge, but I really enjoyed how easy this book was to grasp. Astrology has a lot of different aspects, and I really appreciate how I was still able to learn something new. I definitely recommend this book as a starting point for anyone that wants to learn more about astrology. I really enjoyed it, but I did wish for a bit more interaction either with more cheatsheets or worksheets to help interact with the aspects for learning purposes.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Full disclosure: I don't really believe in astrology and am not a follower. That's one reason I requested this book though, because it promised to show me why two people born on the same day (like two of my husband's friends who could not be more different) may have wildly different personalities. I am always happy to have a good book change my mind about something. I also never understood what on earth Mercury in retrograde meant and I'm all for the fun in any book that promises to tell me all about myself just because it's always sort of entertaining to see how right they are.
First off, I still don't understand a bit of why George and Nick are both Leos born on August 1st and absolutely nothing alike. I guess you're supposed to go on the internet and plug in your birth date and location to find out detailed astrology for yourself, but what good is the book then? It also goes into a ton of information about what it means if each of your "planets" (the sun and moon are planets here too) are in each sign. I had no idea what any of this meant. I'm a Capricorn. I guess that's my sun sign? I have no idea what my Venus and moon and so on signs are. How do I find that out? There are pages and pages of what each one means but I was utterly lost and honestly I'm not going to do extra research on the internet to read a book, especially about a topic I don't really believe in.
There's colorful artwork, and it seems to give you a fair amount of information about each of the signs in each planet, if that's what you're looking for. This will be a fine book for beginners who are believers. Intermediate and advanced learners may not find a lot of in depth information, and skeptics will probably not come away convinced of anything. Two stars for "it was okay" but I honestly was pretty bored by it.
I read a temporary digital ARC of this book via Net Galley.
Though this book looks interesting, I don't have anyway to read anything that isn't on the amazon kindle app, or a pdf. I would definitely check it out if I got a chance to see it in person!
it isn't the best astrology book by far. its ok for beginners . I would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for allowing me a chance to read this book
