Great start to the series. Good chemistry between these two. Looking forward to meeting more of the team and watching them get their HEA's!

Owen and Emerie got me right in the feels! These two are so good together and Kelly Jamieson has given us so much more than just another hockey romance. Not that I should be surprised. I can always count on this author for a great blend of sports romance, emotion, and chemistry. Owen and Emerie both have baggage, and given the things they need to sort through, their fake romance start is kind of perfect for them. Kelly Jamieson caught me by surprise with this one. Usually, I can predict some of what will happen, including the angst and which one will be all in first, which one will pull away, etc. Not this time. What I did see coming was me falling into the story and not coming up for air until it was finished, but that's a common thing with this author as well as the reason she's a must-read for me.

I had just finished my latest Kelly Jamieson, when I saw another one on Netgalley.

And since it was one of the Bears team (like Talk Hockey To me), I requested the arc. The story starts with Emeric, who hates hockey. Her stepfather owns the Bears, so she wants nothing to do with them. Because ever since her mother died, Vince has basically ignored her and her half sister. So, Emeric has taken it upon herself to take care of her half sister. Stopping with her studies and focusing on her sister’s needs. During school hours, Emeric spends her time busking.

When she sees a nice guy checking out her performances, she asks him to be her fake boyfriend. Because Vince keeps pushing her ex Roman back in her face. Telling her they would be a cute couple. Well, he isn’t her ex for no reason. So, to annoy Vince and keep Roman of her back, she needs a cute boyfriend. Owen is surprised when the gorgeous subway singer asks him to be her pretend boyfriend. But pretend is something Owen can do: real relationships are not in the cards for Owen. His sole focus is hockey. The big shock, however, comes when he realizes that Emeric is Vince’s daughter. Oops. Didn’t see that one coming.. Now Owen not only has to pretend that Emeric is his girlfriend at her house, but also in front of his teammates. And the scary part: all his friends like her and think that she is good for him. Yikes!

Together, Emeric and Owen need to tackle several challenges, to convince everyone they are a real couple. But slowly playing pretend, doesn’t feel like pretend anymore. But there is a reason Owen needs to keep her focus on hockey. And when the lines start to blur, Owen is losing his focus. Can he regain his focus, or should he stop this fake relationship?

Same as with Talk Hockey to me, Kelly doesn’t shy away of topics like abuse, addictions and neglect. Which gives the characters a lot of dept and credibility. And therefore, very lovable. Outstanding story, four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

Owen Cooke plays hockey for the New York team and is enthralled with a musician he sees in the subway or other places when he is on his way to the stadium. Emerie Ross is the busker he sees and has been watching for some time. She has noticed him as well. He does not date his focus is all about hockey. Hers is music and her little sister. One day though she needs a date for a party to ward off an ex and her stepfather. He agrees and is totally shocked when he meets her before the party. Her hair and clothes are totally different. When they enter the party the next surprise is that her stepfather is the owner of the team he plays for.
Here is when the story really picks up for instead of ending things they continue, even to the point of her going with him and his friends on a trip where they really are a couple. Their relationship really takes off and you think that they will make it when he suddenly breaks up because of hockey. Read this very good story to see what happens. Wonderful characters and many different subjects being touched on.

The O Zone by Kelly Jamieson is a dual first-person POV romance exploring the fallout when a hockey player totally committed to his hockey career to the exclusion of all else falls for a singer/songwriter/musician who hates hockey and just so happens to be the stepdaughter of his team’s owner. It’s a sexy, sweet, steamy, and emotionally intense hockey romance. I love Jamieson’s hockey romances because it’s obvious she knows her hockey and skillfully balances the romance and hockey elements in her novels. Her characters are nicely developed with interactions that draw you into novels/stories, making you care about them/their lives. Jamieson writes romantic relationships that are intensely emotional, sexual, and about characters who start out with you thinking how this is going to work to them having this deep, romantic, steamy, and utterly romantic connection that makes you want them to have all the good things. All those elements are present in The O Zone, which starts happy-go-lucky, and suddenly things get real quick! Jamieson deftly explores serious issues, including guilt, grief, abandonment, and addiction, with nuance while balancing the novel's tone between humor, angst, and steam.

Owen Cook’s sole focus is being the best hockey player he can be. He works hard to improve his game, research the game, and be a student of the game. He never gets involved with women or relationships during the hockey season—until Emerie. Emerie Ross is a talented musician/singer/songwriter who gave up on pursuing her music dreams to take care of her half-sister after their mother's death. Her love of music won’t let her totally let it go, so she composes, sings, and plays guitar in the subway for money. But when her ex tries to get her to take him back, and her stepfather starts pressuring her to take him back too and marry him, she takes extreme action. She asks Owen, who she doesn’t know is a hockey player, out on a fake date to a party where her father and ex will be present, hoping they will take the hint and let it go. Neither man is happy to see them together, especially Owen’s employer. Will it cost Owen the most important thing in his life?

What starts as fake dating quickly evolves into a steamy, intensely sexual fling that becomes a deeply emotional connection far faster than either is prepared. I like that Owen and Emerie share a connection/interest in each other before meeting, which only grows stronger the more time they spend together. Each has unresolved trauma and issues from grief and familial tensions affecting their ability to live their lives for themselves. Being together helps open their eyes to possibilities, forcing them to honestly deal with the grief and other issues keeping them trapped, let go of the past, and choose to live in the present. It’s hard for both. Owen lives and breathes hockey—on and off the ice. Emerie makes her life all about mothering and protecting her sister, who's growing up fast.

The O Zone is a steamy, sweet, angsty, and sexy romance highly recommended for hockey romance fans about finding the person who helps you to feel comfortable in your own skin, accepting you, flaws, and all, who encourages you to chase your dreams because it makes you happy, gives you peace—not for anybody else.

A decent enough story. It got a bit too into the minutia of hockey for me at times and I just had a hard time connecting with the characters. I didn't get super pulled in but I enjoyed it well enough.

If you like hockey romance books then this book is a definite must read! As someone who has gotten hooked on them with another author, I have been looking for more author's that can suck me into a story-and this one definitely did that. I didn't realize when I started this book that it was related to a previous series, but honestly it can be read without having to read that series. Now that isn't to say that I have gone back and gotten those ones to read since I enjoyed this one!

Owen "Cookie" Cook's whole life revolves around hockey. He doesn't have time for anything else, nor does he want to make time for anything else. He has a goal, and he will do everything he can to meet it. Emerie gave up her dreams when she decided to take care of her little sister. When her stepfather pushes her to marry her ex-she comes up with the plan of bringing a man she is "dating" to a party in hopes it will stop them pushing her for something she doesn't want. But when Emerie introduces Owen to her stepfather-he realizes that is the man who owns his team, and has the power to crush his dreams. And it just makes everything even more complicated than it already was.

I really did enjoy this story. Owen seems so rigid and stuck in his rules-and I get exactly why he is the way he is. But he also doesn't realize what he was missing until Emerie. And Emerie is this sweet soul who gave up what she loves so her little sister will have the support that she needs growing up. But she isn't able to completely throw it away, hence how they meet. They have a chemistry I wasn't really expecting but really enjoyed, along with the laughter of their back and forth's. Definitely well worth the read!

The O Zone is a hockey, forbidden, fake relationship romance and I adored it.

This is Owen Cook and Emerie Ross’s beautifully written romance and their journey captivated me from the first page and there was no putting down until the final line had been read.
Owen lives his life being focused, he has routines to help him be the best hockey player and dating is not on his horizon but he does a good deed and throws caution to the wind one night and agrees to fake date a stunning beauty who is trying to avoid her ex’s advances. What he didn’t expect was for Emerie ( the fake date) to be the stepdaughter of the owner of the hockey team he plays for. Has he made a mistake, will she win his heart or will he be traded ………
I loved everything about this couple and can't wait to read more from this author and series!

This is the first book in the second series about the Bears Hockey team. You don't have to read the first series in order to read this book, but if you have, you will get glimpses of the couples featured in the first.

Owen "Cookie" Cook is a hardcore hockey player in that he eats, breathes, and sleeps hockey. This is the one player that everyone calls the "hockey nerd" because he knows all the ins and outs of the game, right down to rules that govern play. You can see that when he argues with the referees on calls, he backs up his arguments with the rule number and exactly what the rule states.

He has made hockey his life, determined not to let his chance of playing in the NHL be squandered by partying, hooking up with puck bunnies, or being a diva on and off the ice. He's a player who often skates under the radar but is a solid performer rather than a standout star.

Emerie Ross is Owen's opposite. She's a subway busker who sings and plays her guitar most days until she has to leave and pick up her sister from school. As she takes off her wig and vintage coat, she assumes the role of big sister and stepdaughter to one of the wealthiest people in the city.

Emerie has noticed Owen staring at her while she sings, he's never spoken to her but she can tell that he likes her music. Owen has definitely noticed Emerie and her voice is something that calls to him when he takes the subway. What is unexpected is that Emerie asks Owen to accompany her to a party being thrown by her stepfather in order to help get her ex to take a hint and go away.

What neither realizes is that Emerie's stepfather is the owner of the Bears hockey team. Cue the drama. They agree to keep "fake dating" in an effort to force Emerie's ex to get a clue. It's a good thing that the couple gets along so well as this may take some time.

Both Emerie and Owen have to deal with some emotional baggage that they are carrying, and working their way through it allows the reader to become part of the story and root for the couple.

Looking forward to the rest of the Bears Hockey stories.

This is the first book in the new series, and whilst you would get some of the background in the first series, you can start here and soon catch up.

Owen is a man with a single focus – his hockey career. After the untimely death of his older brother, he has done all he can to ensure that he instead has a life in the NHL. He considers everything he does through that lens, so a love interest is definitely not on his agenda. So when a pretty subway busker, who had gained his attention on his way to work, asks him for a favour, he thinks he is safe to accept.

What then unfolds is both funny, sweet, hot, and utterly unexpected. Emerie somehow slots into his life under the radar, and not entirely intentionally. She might even threaten his career due to her family background. All of a sudden Owen's life is upside down, but maybe that is not all bad.

I really enjoyed the banter between the team members, the excitement of the matches, and the simmering, building heat between Owen and Emerie and just what that might mean.

Really good sports romance; I am already looking forward to the next one!

I enjoyed the story and found the premise intriguing and for the most part well executed. The characters were well set up and the progression of the story from their unusual meet-cute through to the hea was an interesting journey.

I loved how the complexities of the characters wasn’t hidden and the challenges they faced, being very related to their pasts, made this book a little more real and human.

I felt the relationships the characters had with their friends and relations were well crafted, the group bonding especially between Owen and his team mates was meaningfully written, as was Emerie’s realisation that she needed to focus on herself.

There were however parts of this book I found challenging…

I don’t think this book is a stand-alone, in fact I found it hugely confusing at times and had to keep moving back and forth to work out who all the peripheral characters were (specifically the hockey friend/team group) I did some digging and have identified where some of these characters have their own books, but not all so to be honest I think readers would benefit from having this mapped out a little or at least being told which books the characters stories are in. Also the change from first name to nicknames confused me and I found it hard to match up couples…eg who is Russ and Hannah, wasn’t it Evan and Hannah? or is that a nickname and they are the same people??
Emerie’s lack of ambition. I kind of felt Vince was right when he said she had to grow up. I get she felt she had to be there for her sister but why couldn’t she have done this and gone to college in NY? I felt like her sister was more a convenient excuse for her to not go rather than a valid reason.
The authors writing style is descriptive, and by that I mean there are at times lots of very in depth pieces about actions such as the first hockey game, it felt like a play by play of the game and a really deep dive but I couldn’t really work out why that level of detail was needed. I guess I just found it a little much and unnecessary at times - though after I got used to it, it didn’t really diminish my enjoyment of the book

It’s always hard for me when I don’t connect with a book from an author whose work I usually love yet that happens to be the case with The O Zone by Kelly Jamieson. The premise of this book was interesting, the way it played out fascinating; I genuinely liked the hero, but the heroine I just couldn’t connect with for the majority of this book leaving me feeling a bit ambivalent about it. I did enjoy the plot, I loved seeing the characters from Ms. Jamieson’s early Bears Hockey series, but I also have so many questions about the heroine.

Owen Cooke lives, breathes, and thinks of hockey. Period. Hockey is his life; sure he spends time on occasion with his teammates, occasionally passes time with a woman, but he lives for hockey. When he’s not training and practicing with the team, he’s working out, he is watching game tapes, he is reading about the sport, and he is learning everything he can about their next opponent. His one indulgence is the busker who plays in the subway station that he enjoys listening too as he passes by even stopping once in awhile to listen a bit longer. There is something about her that calls to him. So when she asks him to coffee and then asks him to accompany her to a party to show her ex-boyfriend she’s involved with someone new, he agrees but soon finds out that she’s not simply a busker but the step-daughter of his team’s owner who is obvious not happy one of his players is dating her.

Emerie Ross knows she screwed up and has now put Owen in a delicate position with her step-father, but she had no idea he was a hockey player. She’d seen him in a suit and thought he worked on Wall Street and now she’s put him and his job at risk. While she offers to come clean about them, Owen tells her he doesn’t like the way her ex treated her and plans to continue helping her.

The set-up to this story was great and honestly Owen is a nice guy hero, the kind I love, and the fact he went above and beyond for Emerie made me love him. Emerie on the other hand, I just couldn’t figure out or warm up to. I get that she lost her mom at a tough age and never felt accepted by her step-dad and it was clear she was a wonderful older sister to Kat, but what I had a hard time with was she lived a very privileged life, was an incredibly talented musician and decent singer, but she chose to busk on the streets of NYC instead of going to school, or working in a club, or even teaching music to kids. She lived in her step-father’s home, was given everything she wanted including all her expenses paid, a credit card from him, and basically just did what she wanted while her sister was in school but couldn’t be bothered to make her own money and live her own life while still being there for her sister? I just couldn’t fathom this part of the story. I felt she had every opportunity and squandered it and I think she felt that too when she began meeting the women Owen’s teammates were with, but it wasn’t until she found herself without that her reality set in.

I did enjoy this story, I especially loved how Owen’s teammates rallied around him and were there as he managed his fake relationship that turned real with Emerie and dealt with the consequences of his actions. I even enjoyed watching the relationship between Owen and Emerie grow despite my issues and reservations about her and I’m sure some readers will love this story. Kelly Jamieson is a favorite author and despite the fact that The O Zone didn’t work well for me, I’m excited about the books to come in this series and I will always be the first one in line to read the next book she puts out.

Most of the original series couples return as secondary and supporting characters. We are introduced to Emerie’s father Vince D’Agostino, her sister Cat D’Agostino, Owen’s parents,and Emerie’s ex Roman Moretti.


THE O ZONE is a story of family, relationships, rejection and love. The premise is emotional and heart breaking; the romance is seductive ; the characters are energetic, broken but healing.

Owen and Emerie had a great journey to their HEA. This book was so much more than a sports romance and tackled some large topics.

This is the first book in the Bears II series which is linked to the first Bears series but all books can be read as a standalone. It was great to be able to get a glimpse of the lives of the characters from the first Bears series.

Owen and Emerie were able to help each other grow and become the best version of themselves. I'm do happy that Emerie was able to find a life for herself that would make her happy after she spent most of her life taking care of her younger sister. I was also glad to see that Owen was able to deal with the issues from his past.

I'm looking forward to reading more books in this series and the blurb for the next book is very interesting!

I have recently fallen hard for Kelly Jamieson’s hockey romances and her Bears Hockey II Series is off to a fabulous start with Owen and Emerie’s love story. I already cannot wait for more in this series to come! Owen is driven and focused. He is committed to his hockey career and won’t allow himself any distractions, including romantic entanglements. He lost his brother unexpectedly and it is important to him that he see all his career goals through for not only himself, but also his brother. When Owen stumbles across a beautiful busker in the subway station she completely takes him by surprise and when she propositions him for his help he cannot seem to resist helping her out. Emerie is my kind of heroine. Loyal, selfless and hard working. She is talented and has a creative soul and loves her sister fiercely. Her connection with her sister is so special. She gave up her music career to look after her. Now her dad is working with her ex-boyfriend to get them back together. In efforts to derail him she brings in Owen as her fake boyfriend. One small problem is that Emerie’s dad turns out to be the owner of the hockey team Owen plays for and he may have inadvertently put his hockey career in jeopardy! The emotional impact of this book took me surprise. Emerie and Owen’s relationship was not an easy one. They fought hard through many obstacles and getting to their HEA was so satisfying after all they endured.

Owen Cook is so focus on being the best hockey player, that he eats and breathes hockey. On his off days, Owen studies films on other teams, reading books on hockey. This is his life. Doesn’t date, except for a quick hookup. Instead of driving to the arena, he takes the subway. This is we’re he observes a beautiful girl singing to make some bucks. He tries to be in the background so he doesn’t come out as a creeper. Then one day she actually approaches him and asks him for coffee. Owen is so stunned that he accepts. Turns out she needs him to be a plus one at an event her ex-boyfriend will be at. Owen has no idea what he’s in for. When he meets her in the lobby of an exclusive hotel, he’s skeptical that she will even turn up. What Owen sees when she shows up, leaves him speechless. Emerie is even more beautiful than he could imagine. She hides her appearance so not to be recognized. Her stepfather wants her to marry her ex and that is the last thing she wants. How hard can it be to pretend to be involved with someone you don’t know, not that hard it appears.

Emerie Ross is convinced that the handsome guy she asked to pretend to be dating, will show up to be her plus one. One thing they never discussed was, what he does for a living. Whoa what a shock to find out when she introduces him to her stepfather that he plays hockey for the same team he owns! Yikes this is getting crazier by the minute.

I loved this book, just like I love everything Kelly writes! This is a must read more than once!

The O Zone is a wonderful hockey romance by the author. I loved Owen and Emerie together, enjoyed watching them grow together, learn about themselves and each other and what they want to be. A book that was equal parts emotional and Hot.

Owen is focused on hockey. He lives and breathes the sport and that doesn’t leave him time for anything else in his life which his is fine with. Emerie has always wanted to feel like she belongs, she loves music and spends her time taking care of her younger sister and busking on the streets of New York. When she needs a fake date, the mysterious tall man she has noticed watching her play is perfect for the job…little do they know how connected they are.
There was a lot more to Owen and Emerie’s story than I expected. I loved every single moment of it. I devoured this story. It takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions, but in the end the ride is worth it. THe chemistry between Owen and Emerie is off the charts from the moment they meet or even before they know who the other truly is. Owen and Emerie are perfect for each other, even though, everything started out as a fake relationship that quickly changed. However, the both of them both have a lot about themselves they need to work through.
I loved seeing more of the Bears hockey team and I can’t wait for more of them in the future.

It's been ages since I last read a Kelly Jamieson novel. So I jumped at the chance to review an early copy of The O Zone, and I'm so happy I did.

As The O Zone was a delightful read, but then I shouldn't have expected anything less as Ms Jamieson knows how to write hockey romance and this is a hockey romance with plenty of heart.

Not to mention characters who grow, and with plenty of sweetness, emotion, and soaring highs and lows this was a story I found increasingly hard to put down and one I'd definitely recommend to others.

I loved this story! Emerie is just the best and Owen is awesome too! A great start to a new series I can’t wait to read more of!

Oh wow so complicated!

In the first book in the Bears II series of books we get to visit some old friends and fall for a new batch of hockey players and the women they love. I’m all in for this series.

The author writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of these two authors. They write with so much intensity, humor and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

Oops. I hate hockey. How was I supposed to know who Owen is? How are we going to keep Vince from trading him away? How am I going to make sure I stay happily un-married? We’re going to have to keep up this pretense even if it means me going to hockey games. Ugh. Even if it means disrupting Owen’s rigid routines. Even if it means everything gets a lot more complicated.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.
