Good hockey story, better romance story. I loved their meeting and how they seem to just fall into dating - even if it was all pretend. Of course the pretending doesn’t last long and falling in fall isn’t without its bumps and bruises, situations and obstacles. Kelly reminds us that hurdles can seem insurmountable at times, but true love will come through.
The O Zone, was a great book. I laughed, cried and sighed repeatedly. I loved Owen's dedication that he has to everything that he does. I guess he takes that dedication a little too far sometimes though. Emerie has the same problem, too dedicated. The romance between the two is fantastic and the sex is off the chart.
When Emerie asks a stranger to pretend to be her date at a party to try to convincer her ex that there is no way they are getting back to together, she has no idea the man she acts is a professional hockey player. When Owen agrees to help the beautiful busker he has no idea she is the step-daughter of his team's owner.
It was very fun to read about Emerie and Owen trying to make their innocent fiction work as it grows more and more complicated while getting to know each other on a deeper level. I really enjoyed watching them introduce each other to their lives and seeing their trust grow alongside their attraction. If things had stayed lighter I would have rated this book higher. All of added emotional struggles for each character seemed convoluted and tacked on. Owen's hockey focus is framed as an addiction and Emerie's concern for her sister as co-dependence more than once but idea is really ever developed further. Emerie's family issues were made to seem like a huge deal and were repeatedly stressed only to be very hastily resolved. The constant switch back and forth between Owen and Emerie's issues made the book seem longer than it was especially when I had stopped trying to make sense of it all. I really enjoy this series and am glad I read this book although the first half was more enjoyable than the second for me.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
LOVED this book! I fell in love with the characters, especially Em, who put her own life on hold to care for her younger sister. Em's stepfather doesn't appreciate her or like her, but she finds a way to persevere so her sister doesn't suffer. Then she meets Owen, and brings her into her home on a fake date to keep her ex away. Owen is stunned when he sees the owner of his team - who is also Em's stepfather. This leads to lots of complications and challenging situations for both Em and Owen.
This sexy novel is filled with romance, a bit of humor, and poignant moments. I couldn't put it down and found myself flipping pages just as quickly as possible. This is one of (in my opinion) the author's best books yet. Put this one at the top of your TBR list. The author is on my must read autthors' list.
