I was disappointed with this book, as it is very derivative. There are so many books written with a similar theme, and in this case, very closely resembling another book I have read recently.
The characters were not particularly likeable, so I found it difficult to care what happened to them. The ending was predictable. It will appeal to lovers of domestic dramas, but it was not for me.
My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance copy of this title.

I felt like the premise of the story was intriguing, and the story could have been really good. It started out well, all twisty mystery, but then petered off. I wanted to like it, and tried really hard, but it just didn't work for me. I'm sure others will appreciate it.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

this was a well told story but the problem for me was I didn't like the characters and felt little sympathy for the main one - not everything just happens, you have to have input to make it,I did guess the ending but that did not detract from the twists, would read more from this author

Is Matthew alive? Is he dead? What was he up to before that night? No spoilers here, save to say this had me playing out various scenarios as I read it (I love when it's not black and white from the beginning).

I found it easy to empathise with Ali in this story, with everything going on around her and the wonder about whether everything was as it seemed.

Having thoroughly enjoyed reading this, I was especially gripped toward the end and had to see how the story was drawn to a conclusion. Believe me when I say I picked this up at every opportunity so I could find out!

Thanks again to the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to read in exchange for an honest review.

This book feels similar, many others have the same plot line so slightly disappointed. Main character needs an injection of life! Was readable.

Thanks for the arc

My Husband’s Secrets finds Ali married to Matthew, but after a night out their car is involved in an accident and Matthew is missing. So when Ali comes out of hospital she is met with secrets and lies from her daughter Emma and her best friend Liz and her husband Dane, and she uncovers that Matthew was stealing from their property development company and is shocked by how much money is missing and who is involved. It’s a good read which kept me interested until the final chapter, and I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys this genre, this is Louise Sharland’s second book and I think she has a bright future as an author if this book is anything to go by.A great 4 star read from me.

As domestic thrillers go this one was ok.
There are a few books out there that have the similar plot to this one and this was an interesting read with twists and turns but knew how the story was going to end up which isn’t always a bad thing.
I was happy to read it and would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in return for an honest review.

On the eve of their wedding anniversary, Ali and Matthew are involved in a fatal car accident, Grief stricken Ali can't bring herself to believe that her beloved Matthew is gone, The smell of his aftershave lingers in their bedroom. His voice still rings out on their answerphone. She sees his face in the eyes of strangers. But as the months pass, and her family and friends rally round, Ali starts to uncover secrets that Matthew kept from her.

When Ali's husband is killed in a road traffic accident, she can.t believe her husband is gone. While she is recovering from the accident, she learns Matthew had kept secrets from her. She's still trying to process the events leading up to the accident. The premise for this nook showed lots of possibilities, but unfortunately it fell short. This is a fast paced read with twists and lots of bad language. I wasn't keen on any of the characters who were all a bit flat. There's lots of information that we didn't need to know and some of it was rehashed over and over. This wasn't a bad read, if it wasn't for the repetitiveness and the unnecessary swearing, I would have given this book at least another star.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #AvonBooksUK and the author #LouiseSharland for my ARC of #TheHusbandsSecrets in exchange for an honest review.

A twisty domestic thriller! I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and the pacing! Louise Sharland is definitely an author to watch. I look forward to reading more by her! Don't miss this one.

I had pretty much guessed the ending fairly early on. The characters were rather unsympathetic, so it was hard to be invested in the story

This is my first book of this author. It’s always interesting to read something from across the pond.

The writing was professional on all accounts. However, the characters were not well developed or relatable, leaving me wanting more. Secondly, I would have preferred that the hunt for Matthew come to its’ conclusion sooner. Additionally, I would have preferred a more complex plot with more twists, turns, and surprises. I also felt that the book as a whole was overly predictable. And finally, the ending really bothered me. I would have preferred a final conclusion.

I would read another book by this author, as I would like to see her mature into a more polished author.

My Husband’s Secrets was an average thriller. The main character, Ali, took a while to warm up too. She was a bit whiny and quite a mess for half the book. Finally, she becomes the strong business woman she’s suppose to be, and it made all the difference in the story. The plot wasn’t anything new, and I did figure out what was going on early in the book. The writing style was decent, and there were moments of tension, but not enough to elevate this beyond a 3 star read.

A fairly complicated mystery . Ali's husband is missing, feared dead after an accident. In the aftermath of his death, Ali discovers discrepancies in the business. As the book progresses, the financial situation becomes quite complicated and is further complicated by Ali's best friend (and her husband) and her daughter also being involved with the company. Fortunately her brother is an accountant and her father an IT expert (despite them not being in touch) but Ali will not involve the police when evidence of fraud is found.
This book was OK. The characters were not very likeable, keen on designer labels and prone to jumping to conclusions and being dramatic about that and keeping secrets from each other rather than discussing things rationally. I also thought that the authoress missed the chance to describe the location (Devon & Cornwall) more.

My Husband’s Secrets is Louise Sharland’s latest domestic thriller. We are introduced to a British couple having an argument and subsequently having an automobile accident in the Prologue. The woman is rescued and heard saying, “save Matthew.” When the first chapter starts, it is two months later and 43-year-old Alice (Ali) is recovering from her injuries. The crash happened during a torrential downpour when they were on their way home from their third anniversary celebration. Her beloved husband, Matthew Penrose, is missing and presumed dead by family and friends. The wrecked car was recovered from the river where it was swept by floodwaters, but his body is missing.

Ali owns a successful property developed company that she founded with her first husband, who died at age 36 of lung cancer. Their 22-year-old daughter, Emma, works with Ali at the firm, along with Ali’s best friend since age 13, Liz. Liz’s husband, Dane, knew Matthew from their army days, and introduced the pair. Ali was reluctant to date Matthew because he is eight years younger than her, but he overcame her fears. He was an online trader and frequently lost money, and their prenuptial agreement said any future money trading by him is grounds for a divorce.

In addition to physical injuries, Ali is dealing with memory loss. She can’t remember all of the details of the accident, nor what caused their ugly fight and the horrific words that Matthew said to her immediately before they got into the car. Matthew and Emma never got along, so Emma hopes that he is dead. Emma and Liz are stressed from Ali’s absence from the business but won’t share any details with her. Liz’s husband’s financial business is slow. So he’s helping out too.

Ali discovers that 500 pounds is missing from their home’s secret cashbox, so she is convinced that Matthew is still alive. Then she learns that his laptop is missing, and so is his custom-made leather jacket. Ali schemes with Dane to look for Matthew in small towns in the southwest region of the country, keeping it secret from everyone else, especially Liz. Ali’s gay account brother, Graham, audits the financials at the business and finds that Matthew embezzled money.

Ali loves Matthew and believes the best of him, excusing his indiscretions. Everyone else thinks he was using Ali for financial gain. With Ali’s memory lapses, the story jumps around in time as Ali remembers past events. The reader wonders if Matthew is dead or alive, and if he’s dead, who is doing things to make him seem still alive.

My Husband’s Secrets is a well-written British domestic thriller. While I didn’t identify with Ali, she was likeable, and I was sucked into the missing-husband mystery. The characters are well-identified and the hints are dispensed slowly to keep the story moving. My one caution is that there is a lot of alcohol consumption in this book, so some readers might find it offensive. I recommend this book for thriller fans.

This started out with a bang, but it fizzled out pretty fast. Ali is adamant that her husband is alive after the car crash that left her with serious injuries, but everyone around her is just as adamant that Matthew is dead. This conversation is repeated many times through the book, and soon becomes tedious. I also felt that the story was predictable - there's so many stories out there that have the same basic plot, and many of them do it better. I found the characters to be unpleasant & didn't really care what happened to them. There's a huge market for domestic thrillers but this one was just not for me.

This was.a really on the.edge if you seat book. It had me from the start. Characters were awesome, really liked them. Would recommend it

The premise of My Husband's Secrets was immediately intriguing: On the night they were celebrating their wedding anniversary, Ali and Matthew are involved in a fatal car accident. Ali struggles with her recovery, both physical and mental, as she struggles with daily reminders of her husband. And as the days go on, she begins to uncover secrets he's been hiding from her. Worse still, she can't shake the feeling that he's still alive...

But the book itself fell a little flat for me.

Come on, Ali, just accept he's gone and marry a new guy like you already did.

Sorry if that sounds harsh, but unfortunately this book is full of such unlikable characters that I didn't really sympathize with what anyone was going through. More than twenty percent into the book and it's just Ali over and over and over again telling someone else that no! Matthew just isn't dead!

Look, I get it--authors are bound by publishing standards to hit certain word counts based on genre. And let's face it--every story's basically been told; Now it's a matter of how different writers will spin the tropes. Unfortunately, it seems like many of the current plotlines aren't sufficient enough to carry a book through 90,000 words. And so, to hit required word counts, we end up with so much...filler.

I can understand that a wife would struggle to accept her husband's death. And it's a compelling premise to ask if he's really gone or if instead there's some shenanigans going on and he's hiding out somewhere else. But Ali just became annoying about it--that much repetition is frustrating for the reader--so I skimmed ahead just to find out the ending. I was never invested in this story and the twist wasn't that exciting.

There's also a little ew factor going on with Ali's casual dismissal/excusing of evicting people from their homes to flip properties ("just keep your eye on the goal girl boss").

Thanks very much to Avon Books UK for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for a review through NetGalley.

After an accident Ali can't believe that her husband Mathew is gone. There is no body and until he is found she has to keep believing that he is out there somewhere trying to get home.
As time goes on things come to her attention that mean her husband wasn't truthful to her. Was it only him or is anyone around her trustworthy?
What a rollercoaster ride Ali took us on. I didn't know who to trust and suspected everyone.
This is quite the page turner with believable characters. I loved it.
